HD crashed on Dell Inspiron 580 desktop. Replaced with a new one. No back-ups discs available. Installed Windows 7 Starter from Notebook backup disc to boot it up.
Now it will not connect to the internet. Message is that it can't find a network adapter.
Is it because of the Starter version of Windows? Will installing a new copy of Home Premium fix it
I just installed this product USB Dual High Gain Antenna Wireless N Wifi Adaptor USB Dual High Gain Antenna Wireless N Wi-Fi Adapter (eBay item 170608181616 end time 25-Jul-11 14:23:40 AEST) : Computers
Soon as I plugged it in, my Win 7 (64) machine instantly identified it and installed the driver. Only problem is, the adapter remains disabled. I try to enable it, but it instantly disables itself when I do.
I could not find any clues in the System event log.
It's actually an rtl8187 chip by realtek. I tried installing drivers from the manufacturer (from the CD and from the internet) but windows insists that the microsoft driver it installed on detection is the most up-to-date driver and it ignores mfr driver. I tried installing a "legacy device" and I manually chose the mfr driver, but it does not work (and still has the microsoft driven device listed in device manager).
I tried this unit on another PC (also running windows 7 64bit) and it worked flawlessly. But on the two machines which really need the device, they both cannot enable the device once installed.
Infected with the Adobe flash player update/windows system32 services trojan. After failing to fix it myself i passed it onto a so called expert. He seems to have fixed the trojan but now im having a problem with PC not recognizing the network adapter for a few minutes when switched on and when awakened from sleep mode. I have since found out that combofix was used to remove the trojan.
While working in windows 7 x64 rc, every so often, the little networking icon gets a little yellow ! sign over it.
I thought at first my internet connection had been lost, but i couldnt' connect to the router SO i tried my laptop, and it connected fine to the router. And the internet was working.
Now, about once an hour, this happens. It is only fixable by disabling, then reenabling the ethernet adaptor itself. The adaptor simply stops transmitting and receiving, randomly for no reason.
I have an nvidia EVGA 680i SLI (nvidia) board, it has 2 on board 10/100/1000 ethernet ports. I have tried uninstalling them (with deleting the driver) and then reinstalling them, no such luck.
Worked perfectly in build 7077, but in the release candidate, i'm getting this recurring problem.
The problem, to reitterate, is not with the router, or with my internet connect. I'm saying that to stem the expected tide of "trun off your router, leave it for 30 seconds, turn it back on again" type responses
If anyone can help me, i would really appreciate that.
BTW< i have the latest drivers for my motherboard and so on. I have tried both WITH and WITHOUT the nvidia network manager. (network manager was incompatible with Vuze, and didn't solve the disconnects problem anyway).
Give me instructions if you need more information and i'll get it for you.. thank you so much.
Oh, and lastly, this is wired networking, in case you thought it might be a wireless problem. I've even tried using new ethernet cables. TO NO AVAIL!!
I have been using Windows 7 beta (386) with no problems up until a few days ago.I've run into the The Network Adaptor "Local Area Connection" does not have a valid IP Configuration message. When I go to Network Sharing I see that I am connected to an Unidentified Network but unable to connect to the internet. This has happened all of a sudden.
I used to have a ton of problems with my network adapter. It would always encounter and error saying "default gateway unavailable"
I recently reinstalled windows and updated the nvidia drivers for my motherboard and when I looked into the drivers folder in Cwindows/system32/drivers, I saw that there was a driver that says nvm62x64.sys and nvm64x64.sys. When I uninstall the drivers and leave the stock windows ones, i only get nvm62x64.
I think this is significant because the fix I found to this problem on a windows support forum was that if you download the vista driver for the motherboard and extracted it to folder, you would find a file named nvmfdx64.sys and you would then rename that to nvm62x64.sys (the win 7 file name). Then you would replace the windows driver with the aformentioned vista driver and everything worked for me and never had that default issue again.
so I am wondering what the heck is that nvm64x64.sys file that nvidia put in there and I think this may be the cause of the problems because everything works without the particular file.
I bought a new laptop and I can't connect to the internet because it says "Windows could not find a driver for your network adapter."
I can try to manually download one but I don't know what network adapter I have. When I bought the laptop the only information it gave me was that is has an HM65 Express Mobile Intel chipset based motherboard. No word about what kind of network adapter.
I just purchased an Acer Aspire One mini notebook and im trying to connect to the internet via the router in the house, but it keeps telling me i need the network security key. where do I find that security key information.
I bought my laptop from best buy as an open item (purchased and return) for a good price. I cant connect to my router i can only hardwire my laptop through ethernet. I go to device manager and it says my network controller is unknown and i cant figure out for the life of me what to do. i downloaded drivers from the asus and still a no go.
I just installed Windows 7 Ent. (64) and can not connect to the internet due to the fact te system can not find a driver for my network adapter.I ran the DEVMGMT and it shows no network adapters BUt it shows two yellow.
I am trying to restore my Dell E6510 Windows 7 64-bit Pro. laptop from a image created by Windows backup that is located on a share on a network drive. Using windows explorer, I can view the image folder. I have not renamed or moved the folder. When I run the Windows restore process, restore does not automaticly find the image so I click on the network button, type in the network share and type in the correct user and password. I receive the message "network share cannot be found. code 0x800704cf"
I just bought a laptop, and I want to integrate it with the desk top I already have. How do I find my wirelesss security code from my older PC to connect with the new one?
Have 3 computers in my HOMEGROUP (2 wireless, 1 wired). When I try to connect to one of the other computers from any of my computers, a window pops up asking for a USER NAME and PASSWORD. I know my HOMEGROUP password but do not know the user name. How do I find it?
So, a long time ago i had wireless, but after a while it stopped working that well so i switched to a Ethernet cable. I couldn't connect to it because it wouldn't show up so i disabled the wireless and then it connected. Now back to reality..We now have fibre-optic so it's a lot faster so i tried to get my wireless signal back. Can't find it in the network and sharing centre, checked device manager as well. Have tried taking the Ethernet out to see if it would pop up but it hasn't.
