Dec 29, 2010Why does Windows 7 say my 32gb sandisk SDHC 4 is not suitable or does not have the caracteristics for readyboost. Is there anything I can do to change the cards caracteristics so that it will work with readyboost?

Oct 24, 2009Recently installed Win 7 Ultimate 64 bit. Everything works fine except my Belkin F5D5005 v2000 network card.
There are no drivers for it on the Belkin site and none of the older vista drivers work.
Is there a list somewhere of NIC's that are compatible with Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit since it looks like I'll need to buy a new one.
The on board network point on my motherboard works fine (realtek NIC on an Asus Fatality fp-in9 SLI mobo) but has been faulty for some time now.
Any advice?

Feb 18, 2012Upgraded Dell XPS 710 (2006 build) from Windows XP to 7. Only issue is no sound from the Sound Blaster sound card. I've tried ALL trouble- shooting tips from Microsoft and Sound Blaster. I'm able to hear sound when I perform a sound test during SB's setup through all my 5.1 speakers. Otherwise just crackle or silence. Do I just need to break down and buy a new sound card?

Dec 13, 2011I bought Sony PC Speakers and some 900MHz Wireless Stereo Headphones so I can watch Net flex without disturbing anyone. I paid about $50 each so their mid-range. If the movie is quite I can just barely hear a little buzz but that's only about 5% of the time so I thought it might be a good idea to get a sound card instead of using the motherboards sound so what would you recommend but I don't know crap about sound cards?

Aug 21, 2009Seen this enough here and elsewhere with people not knowing or understanding the differences between the different cards. For example have seen too many instances of someone recommending regular X-Fi drivers with the Xtreme Audio. With that said here we go,
1. Audigy SE/LS/Value, X-Fi Xtreme Audio and the Sound Blaster 24 bit
All of these cards are virtually identical hardware-wise, and for the most part the drivers are interchangeable. The only thing the Xtreme Audio has over the others is that it gets to use some of the X-Fi software (and supports Entertainment mode only). Drivers for all of these cards can be found on Creatives support pages,

that has been modified to work with all the above cards (single installer and driver) as well as return the use of some of the applications that used to work in XP (and Vista if the card was bought recently enough and came with Vista drivers on the CD).
2. The Audigy 1, 2 (all, including the 2 Value) and 4 series. These cards again all use the same driver and can be found through the saem link as above. And again there is also the Daniel_K driver set,

Again like the regular Audigy drivers, these will not work with the Xtreme Audio.
4. That leaves the original SB Live series of cards. There is not now and never will be any support for these cards from Creative, and I really wouldn't expect them too considering most of these cards are from the Windows 95/98 era. For anyone with one of these cards the only option you really have (applies to Vista as well) is yet another Daniel_K modified driver set,

Sound Cards That WORK
Jan 28, 2009I'm after a list of Sound cards that people absolutely know work in Windows 7 (beta build 7000) and have drivers that support them which also are compatible with Windows 7.
List of Sound Cards and Drivers that work:
-Creative Sound Blaster Audigy 4 (Drivers Located here)
-M-Audio's Delta 1010 LT soundcard with drivers made for Vista SP1, with Windows 7's compatibility program (All Delta series may work with Vista SP1)
-Asus Xonar D2 sound card works, Recording features may not work in some with some driver software.
-Sound blaster Audigy 2 SE works with the drivers from windows update
-Soundblaster live, only with kxproject drivers. WARNING: The windows update drivers give terrible sound.

On it, he had installed a form of creative volume control in addition to windows volume. The way it worked was he had the windows volume set to 100% at all times, and the creative volume control around 3% for regular browsing, 10-25% for gaming and 50% or higher for rocking out with music. I recently acquired windows 7 home premium x64 and upgraded my operating system. My soundblaster card has all the necessary drivers and the audio is all hooked up properly, and the only thing missing is this form of volume control. Jan 20, 2013I just purchased a "refurbished" Dell Optiplex GX 620. When I turned it on everything worked fine until it rebooted after an automatic Microsoft update was installed. Now I have no sounds. According to the Device Manager "Your sound card is not working properly because a compatible driver is not available for this version of Windows." (I'm running Win7). My sound card is a SoundMAX Integrated Digital Audio. I have tried several SoundMAX drivers (found online) that said they were compatible but they don't work either.

Jun 23, 2009I have seen a few posts of people trying to get a list together of sound cards that WILL work in Windows 7. Surely the moderator could compile and forward this request to MS to see what they have to say? I mean, we can't all be dumb! They also can't expect us to throw away our expensive cards just because there are no drivers. Of course, it's not MS's fault that a third party manufacturer doesn't update their drivers, and we all expect Creative Labs to drop us like a hot stone once they have our cash in their greedy little paws, but there HAS to be a solution somewhere? (Solution 1: make mental note not to buy Creative Labs *anything*, and I'm basing this on experience stretching back a bit).
My sound is from an onboard chip, so I will probably have to purchase a new card just to get sound. I have tried everything: BIOS enable/disable audio, get drivers from the Fujitsu site for a SCALEO 800s (you try that one...good luck), uninstall Windows 7 updates, move IRQs around, allow ESCD reset in BIOS, XP compatibility mode...no luck. The chip is a Sis 7012 with ESS ES1968 Maestro-2, according to those lovely driver update applications that are all FREE until you have to put in your credit card; you know the type.
The only thing hardware manufacturers CAN design and implement properly is a cash register, because that's all they seem to want. Once you've made the purchase, they don't want anything to do with you. MS, please come to the rescue with the following:
a) a list of Windows 7 compatible sound cards - LEGACY - ,
b) a list of new cards on/near the market
c) a more subtle compatibility mode that will say "I haven't found your driver, but in the interests of your sanity, click OK for me to install a compatible one until we get this mess sorted out."

This card works perfectly fine and I had no issues with it and I plan to continue using it. However, now that I have three monitors and I need another video card I'm running into a lot of issues. I tried installing another PCIe 16 card I had lying around but my setup didn't seem to recognize the new card. I do not have the exact model number on that since it was given to me, but I believe it was a GeForce 6 series card. I also tried a PCI ATI Radeon card that I had laying around found here Newegg.com - SAPPHIRE 100945L-BK Radeon 7000 64MB 64-bit DDR PCI Video Card - Desktop Graphics / Video Cards
This card showed up in the device manager as a Standard VGA adapater but in the properties it had an error saying "The device could not start".
So I guess my question is this: What is the cheapest way to get three monitors working on my windows 7 64 bit machine? I want to use the first card I linked to and one other one.

Aug 28, 2012i have a question. i am running a quad screen set-up. i have been running windows 7 32-bit. with 2 video cards1 pci-e ati radeon hd 4350 now it was working great in windows 7 32-bit, but ever since i upgraded to windows 7-64 bit. its not working at 100%now i have been reading alot on this forum that alot of people have trouble getting the fx 5200 working. after trying many different drivers i finally was able to get it working. the only catch is that. i had to turn off aero and disable other aero features so it can run with better performance.but even after doing that. the ony problem i have is that videos such as in Internet. run slow seem to lag a little and worse when i put it on full screen.i figure its the card because its so old and its a pci card

Feb 6, 2012any computer running windows 7 but this new laptop i have (hp g6 core i5) seems to be continually corrupting memory cards out of my camera! when i first insert the memory card and view the pictures and go to change their orientation; windows comes up with a message saying it can't change it because the picture is no longer there! when you go back to view the folders on the card they appear as symbols as they have been corrupted! the first time it happened i downloaded (and purchased the key) for recovery which seems to do a good job of recovering the images. its really annoying me as to why it is happening! i'm now very careful and transfer images from the sd to the laptop straight away and safely remove the card afterwards. the laptop also corrupted a different memory card when the lid was shut and re-opened but im assuming this is because the computer was hibernating without the card being safely removed.has anybody else had this problem and if so how can it be sorted?
