SD Card Reader Not Working On Brand New Sony Vaio?
Sep 3, 2011
Saw similar problem below but my computer is brand new (out the box today) Sony Vaio VPCEH14FM came with on board Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit. When I input my SD card, the card reader lights up briefly so its seeing it, but it is not appearing on my computer and when i try and run the extra drives nothing shows up. When I plug my mini sd into the usb port it works, but id like to figure out the actual sd slot for my camera?
I have just upgraded to window 7 (64-bit) from Vista (32-bit) and now my sd/memory stick pro reader/writer will not work!!! Sony website does not support windows 7 drivers with my model laptop(sony vaio vgn-nr220e). The reader/writer is a Texas Instruments™ PCIxx12 Integrated FlashMedia Controller. CAN ANYONE HELP ME FIX THIS?
Since I've upgraded to Windows 7 64 bit from Vista, the webcam and sd card reader that are built into my laptop will not work. I have searched for drivers on the Sony site and they have not worked, and I have also downloaded some Ricoh drivers but to no avail.
I just upgrade my comp.to windows 7 evrything it's working fine but the mass storage controller no drivers for it.Some one told me that the driver for win. vista were compatible with win.7 I try to load it but the comp don't let me.It said no compatible. It's anyone out there with the same problem?
I have a "SanDisk Ultra CompactFlash" 4GB card and an internal card reader (HP desktop). When I insert the card into the reader, the green light above the slot turns on as if it recognizes the device, but it doesn't show up. Device Manager says that the driver is installed and working properly, and I have uninstalled it,reinstalled it, and restarted my computer. A system restore isn't really an option because it isn't my computer.
Notebook model no : VGN-FZ24OE..After installing windows 7 the SD card reader slot is not working.Plz give me the link to download the SD card reader driver...
I was working on an email Saturday when my Sony Vaio stopped working & flipped over to the black & white Vaio screen. Since then, I've been able to reboot it once, but it flips right back over to the Vaio screen. At one point, I was able to get to the Advanced Boot Options menu by hitting F8. I tried to restore to the last known good configuration. It got to the Windows logo screen, then went back to the Vaio screen, then went to the "Operating System could not be found" screen. The computer has a One Touch Web Access Without Booting Up feature.
For some unknown reason, my multi card reader is not being recognised when I start up my computer. I suspect it has turned off the Auto Start. Can anyone help me please. I suspect that if I could make contact with the reader and turn it on manually all would be well.
i am trying to use a sandisk card for readyboost. But it only showed up once when downloading something like a update device driver or whatever. But it is not showing up.
I've looked around some, but most other people's problems seemed to be that they could at least see a grayed out version of the card or locate it in the Device Manager, but absolutely nothing shows up for me. It worked fine a couple of days ago (when I was still on Vista), but after upgrading to 7, it no longer detects the SD card at all. Other topics had lots of random driver downloads, but the ones I tried did not seem to work.
I decided to replace my old internal card reader with the Akasa 3.5" internal 6-slot multicard reader with Superspeed USB 3.0 [AK-ICR-07U3] What I thought was going to be a 5 minute job became a bit of a headache. I've installed it and powered up the pc, it seemed to be working but then I got the message that the device could not be installed and no drivers were found. So off I go to Akasa website, I located the model and under support I found a "installation software" (even though the manual makes no mention of it and it's supposed to be "plug & Play"). I installed the driver and again it seemed to work, I was able to use my camera's memory card but when I tried to use another memory card it just froze, the reader gets stuck with the "reading light" all the time on even when I take the card out ... if I switch off the pc the card reader will still be stuck with both power and reading lights on, the only way for it to go off again is if I switch the power supply off. When I power the pc on it all looks fine until I try to actually use the card reader ... the usb port seems to be working fine though. My system is this:- Intel Core i7-2600 3.40GHz (Sandybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor
I've got a new Lenovo Z470 with Windows 7 32 bit. When I put an SD Card in the slot from my camera nothing happens. The card doesn't show up in My Computer.I've looked on the Lenovo website for drivers but can't find anything specific to this problem.
My USB ports and memory card reader have all of a sudden stopped working correctly . the mem card slots i cant tell if they are working at all but the usb ports are still sending power as iv still be able to charge my mp3 player but it just will not send any data .. this is made even more frustrating as i was using them both less that 10 hours ago iv not installed any new software and i have not changed any hardware so tbh im completely at a loss as to why they arnt working .iv done only the basic things to attempt to get them working again.. i un-installed them from device manager and let windows re-install them to no avail . I also went in to my bios and made sure that the ports were enabled .. they were

I have an older HP Pavilion zt3349cl that just keeps going. I installed Windows 7 on it and now when I put a sd card in the reader(built in) it wants to try and format the card-the card has pics on it. Card will work fine in another computer.
I own Sony Vaio VGN CR123E.I've formated my computer which came with vista and installed 7, but I found some problems with drivers:Card reader isn't working, It seems I cannot find proper drivers. I had some before reformating but It wasn't working with 0.5G and 2G SD card, but It did work with my 1G card. I need help to find proper drivers for it.USB is working much slower than in vista/linuxIntegrated webcamera isn't working.
I recently installed Windows 7 on my VGN-FZ31S Sony Vaio notebook, I have had to manually download all the drivers from here however, I have downloaded the 'Memory card reader writer driver' when I find it in my downloads, the application doesn't download, I click it and it just loads and then nothing happens.
I have been in to my device manager and there is nothing about SD cards or magicgate in the list! I'm going crazy trying to get my memory card to work but I can't as the driver won't work!
I recently installed a new HDD (Seagate ST9500424AS; p/n 9RW143-567) in my Sony VAIO VPCEH11FX and installed the OS using the Sony VAIO Recovery Media Kit (VPCE_10FX Series 989203008). During the installation, I selected the default or normal settings. A short while (1-2 weeks) after the installation was complete, I noticed that the track pad was not working after enabling it using Fn+F1. (The pointing device dialog box DOES appear when I press Fn+F1 and shows that it will toggle between enable & disable). I took the computer into Fry's (where I bought it) and they booted a different OS (I think it was Windows XP) using a CD. Using this OS, the track pad worked. So it was confirmed it wasn't a hardware issue. I proceeded to contact Sony. They had me do the following:
1) download the latest drivers & driver updates and install both. This didn't fix the problem. 2) uninstall 'Alps Pointing-device for VAIO' and run the .exe files for the driver & update. This didn't fix the problem. 3) boot the computer to recovery mode (press F10 when it starts); I noticed that the track pad was working in this mode. 4) Confirm that the other ALT keys functioned properly. (they do function properly)
The Sony rep asked me to confirm the type of HDD I installed (I forget what specifically he was interested in), but upon my reading him the part number, he confirmed the HDD was compatible. The Sony rep then suggested I either recover the system to a previous version/date and see if the track pad is working. (he seems to think some software I installed might have prevented the track pad from working) He also suggested I could reformat the HDD and reinstall the entire OS. I've balked at doing either, as I'm guessing there is an issue with the registry.
I'm having trouble with my Sony Vaio VGN-FW520F with the Function Key not working i tried looking up the drives from the Sony US website and cant seem to find it. I had updated my Windows 7 Home Premium to Windows Pro and cleared my hard drive in the process.
The notebook is Sony Vaio VGN-CS21S-W. I've upgraded to Windows 7 and the multimedia buttons stopped working. I'm talking about the sensor/touch buttons. I've installed drivers and the function buttons are ok, but still without success with multimedia buttons.
I have purchased Sony VAIO E series three months back working without any issues. But after 2 months, the built-in keyboard and mouse not working after windows starts. USB mouse and other features working without any issues. To make the keyboard and mouse, i have should restart the system 2 to 3 times or uninstall the driver for same. The laptop having Windows 7 Home Premium. After the problem, i have reinstalled Windows 7 Enterprise and also did built-in system recover. Still the problem persists. Is the problem related to Windows 7 or with hardware? But once the keyword and mouse drivers uninstalled via device manager working fine. OS is 64 bit
my sony vaio's built-in bluetooth is not working. im using windows 7 32-bit. what am i gonna do?? ( i already tried "services.msc" but still it is not working.
Cannot seem to get the webcam to work in any application, I think I need correct drivers or something, been on the sony website and downloaded everything that I thought would be relevant to no avail...
For example when I use Windows live messenger it says "we cannot connect to your webcam, your webcame may be in use by another program, please check it and try again"
