SD Card Reader Not Working After Upgrading To Windows 7
Jan 18, 2010
I've looked around some, but most other people's problems seemed to be that they could at least see a grayed out version of the card or locate it in the Device Manager, but absolutely nothing shows up for me. It worked fine a couple of days ago (when I was still on Vista), but after upgrading to 7, it no longer detects the SD card at all. Other topics had lots of random driver downloads, but the ones I tried did not seem to work.
I have a "SanDisk Ultra CompactFlash" 4GB card and an internal card reader (HP desktop). When I insert the card into the reader, the green light above the slot turns on as if it recognizes the device, but it doesn't show up. Device Manager says that the driver is installed and working properly, and I have uninstalled it,reinstalled it, and restarted my computer. A system restore isn't really an option because it isn't my computer.
flash drive or any card reader is perfectly working in windowx xp but when i insert in my windows 7 it show drive is not formated .
then I formated on windows 7 it works but when i restart windows 7 it again show flash drive is not formmated . every time i restart windows 7 it does not open flash drive or any card reader and show drive is not formated . at the same time when i boot in windows xp they all work perfectly in windows xp . what to do within windows 7
I have an older HP Pavilion zt3349cl that just keeps going. I installed Windows 7 on it and now when I put a sd card in the reader(built in) it wants to try and format the card-the card has pics on it. Card will work fine in another computer.
For some unknown reason, my multi card reader is not being recognised when I start up my computer. I suspect it has turned off the Auto Start. Can anyone help me please. I suspect that if I could make contact with the reader and turn it on manually all would be well.
i am trying to use a sandisk card for readyboost. But it only showed up once when downloading something like a update device driver or whatever. But it is not showing up.
I decided to replace my old internal card reader with the Akasa 3.5" internal 6-slot multicard reader with Superspeed USB 3.0 [AK-ICR-07U3] What I thought was going to be a 5 minute job became a bit of a headache. I've installed it and powered up the pc, it seemed to be working but then I got the message that the device could not be installed and no drivers were found. So off I go to Akasa website, I located the model and under support I found a "installation software" (even though the manual makes no mention of it and it's supposed to be "plug & Play"). I installed the driver and again it seemed to work, I was able to use my camera's memory card but when I tried to use another memory card it just froze, the reader gets stuck with the "reading light" all the time on even when I take the card out ... if I switch off the pc the card reader will still be stuck with both power and reading lights on, the only way for it to go off again is if I switch the power supply off. When I power the pc on it all looks fine until I try to actually use the card reader ... the usb port seems to be working fine though. My system is this:- Intel Core i7-2600 3.40GHz (Sandybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor
I've got a new Lenovo Z470 with Windows 7 32 bit. When I put an SD Card in the slot from my camera nothing happens. The card doesn't show up in My Computer.I've looked on the Lenovo website for drivers but can't find anything specific to this problem.
My USB ports and memory card reader have all of a sudden stopped working correctly . the mem card slots i cant tell if they are working at all but the usb ports are still sending power as iv still be able to charge my mp3 player but it just will not send any data .. this is made even more frustrating as i was using them both less that 10 hours ago iv not installed any new software and i have not changed any hardware so tbh im completely at a loss as to why they arnt working .iv done only the basic things to attempt to get them working again.. i un-installed them from device manager and let windows re-install them to no avail . I also went in to my bios and made sure that the ports were enabled .. they were
Saw similar problem below but my computer is brand new (out the box today) Sony Vaio VPCEH14FM came with on board Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit. When I input my SD card, the card reader lights up briefly so its seeing it, but it is not appearing on my computer and when i try and run the extra drives nothing shows up. When I plug my mini sd into the usb port it works, but id like to figure out the actual sd slot for my camera?
I recently updated my laptop to win 7 x64 from win vista x32(which came preloaded)everything seems to ne working fine except the SD card i checked Dell drivers website for the latest drivers but they dont seem to be working..
I own Sony Vaio VGN CR123E.I've formated my computer which came with vista and installed 7, but I found some problems with drivers:Card reader isn't working, It seems I cannot find proper drivers. I had some before reformating but It wasn't working with 0.5G and 2G SD card, but It did work with my 1G card. I need help to find proper drivers for it.USB is working much slower than in vista/linuxIntegrated webcamera isn't working.
On my PC there is a card reader connected. It shows up as 4 different drives when I look at "My Computer" and elsewhere. One of the slots in the reader is for sim cards. When a sim card is inserted a Windows sound is heard and the "Installing Device Driver" window shows up and then another window stating the installation was not successful. Any further action from within windows does not solve the problem. I tried an external card reader and the same negative results. this was tried with 3 different sim cards.
I have some perfectly good USB flash-card readers from Transcend. They work just great on my XP office machine, and on my home machine if I dig out my XP boot drive and boot XP. But Win7 can't use flash in this device. Disk Management shows the correct size but can't show Properties; no drive letter is assigned, and I can't see the drives. They all work just find under XP.
I hesitate to go buy another brand of reader; USB is supposed to be plug-and-play.
i bought a multi card reader and tried using it on Winodws 64-bit sony vaio laptop but it does not work.which provided the driver software for windows 7 64-bit. It worked for me.
