I was wondering is there a way to stop that, on my pc i dont have to do that i click to install things but on a friends computer i have to right click for instance mozilla installer and run as admin how do i stop that?
At my job we just went from a windows xp machine to a windows 7 professional. when Some one with out admin rights does anything it asks for someone with admin rights to type in their info (their username and password). For instance, I had one user trying to download an email attachment and it asked for admin permissions. We have other windows 7 pcs in the building and they don't do this. The xp machine before we installed the windows 7 pc didn't do it either. So anyone know how to make it not ask for admin right when doing tasks that shouldn't need admin rights? Yes we are on a network, but their group policy allows them to at least download an attachment or even change their wallpaper.
My screen goes blank every now and again but all the lights on my pc, mouse and keyboard stay on but i can't make it do anything. I have to power off and on again and sometimes when i power up i get a message of system boot failure
I just reformatted my computer because it was having problems. I want the computer to stay at a balanced power level, so I selected the 'balanced plan' where it shuts the monitor off after 10 minuted and puts the computer to sleep after 30. When the computer is put to sleep, the wifi goes out, which is a problem for me. I was wondering if I could keep certain things running while it sleeps such as the wifi and other programs that normally stay on during the day.
I had to do a fresh reinstall today and I wanted to know if I should download and install any of the drivers (other than Ethernet LAN to get me online) for my comp'?In particular, the SATA drivers for a 64-bit install http://ca.gigabyte.com/products/pr [...] l=1#driver,I do have to install the audio and video, but otherwise, not sure about the SATA.
If you run an app as admin, what is happening exactly? I searched around a bit, but all I could really find was how to run as admin. I did find this: Some applications wont run on Windows Vista because they were designed for earlier versions of Windows. Most of the time, the problem is caused by UAC. Well, I am asking b/c an app that was having some issues (myself and several others) seems to be ok when the .exe is set to 'run as admin'. I can go into details if need be, but basically, this app was designed for Vista/Windows 7 (or so the dev says), and UAC is off.

Also for non-real time protection but for a 2nd opinion, sometimes do a scan with MBAM or Super AntiSpyware. And after learning about it thru this site, currently doing a free online ESET scan, which the one other time I used it found junk that none of the other programs did.I saw an article stating that most problems involving keyloggers, trojans, scareware, etc., could be prevented by my running my computer as someone without Administrative privileges - that this would prevent most programs from being able to take control, even if I unknowingly clicked on a downloader for a trojan/keylogger.I am in the USA and interested in some non-USA sports, so use free streaming sites a lot which sometimes contain various types of malware.I try to be careful, but occasionally, as tonight, I have to do a System Restore when scareware gets a program into my computer.
I am having issues with running certain apps with admin privilege.I have installed Notepad++ which i use for my .js files. Now here's what's happening: When im editing a file which is located in the programfiles folder, it wouldn't allow me to save it. I can only save it if i close the app, give it admin privilege(right click->compatibility->check run as admin). This is fine with me. But if i do that, another issue pops up. I am then not able to open files in notepad++ via the context menu. neither can i drag drop the file onto notepad++.
I am trying to change the folder properties of a applications folder from read only. I am doing this per instructions from the apps provider to prevent crashes.
When I go to change the permissions it states I need admin privileges. The only account I have on the box is the admin however I did change the name to something besides admin. The account is definitely an admin account.
My problem is that even though I have only one user account defined on my machine and it is set to "Administrator" it is not being allowed to do admin types of things like deleting folders. I tried to create a user group but that's not an option on the Win7 Home Premium version that I use. How can it be that the sole account is not the admin even though it shows that it is in the account user setup?

Things like compressing a 4 gig or above file using winrar, Trying to convert a 15 gig MKV movie to MP4 format using Avs Video Converter, playing avengers in facebook while listening to MP3 using Winamp. This are the ones I noticed that is guaranteed to cause a BSOD after quite a while. checking event viewer, everything seems in order except for this error, which always occurs at the exact time to the second when the BSOD happens.
For some reason lately some applications I click on show up on my taskbar but do not appear on screen. For example I click Google Chrome and its automatically expands to the right side of the screen and I am not able to move it or see it, I can only see the icon on my taskbar. This happens with a few other things too. I have restarted and it didn't work. This also happens when I click on My Computer, downloads etc. It is very annoying.
I came back home after being gone for 6 weeks to find that everything involving Java seems to fail or crash. I noticed it originally because the launcher program for Minecraft would not open at all. Also going to the Minecraft website to try and play online said I needed a Java plugin. When I downloaded the plugin and reloaded the page my browser (IE and firefox) instantly closed down with no error report. The browsers also crash at the Java website after clicking on the "Verify java Version" button.I have uninstalled all Java related things, restarted, scanned for viruses with Security essentials and malware with malware bytes. Reinstalled Java and still the same problems. I have tried this with only 32 bit java or only 64 bit or both installed together. I have also tried downloading an older Java 6 version.I also noticed that the Java control panel does not open (open control panel, search 'java' and click 'Java 32-bit') and if I have Java uninstalled then the Minecraft launcher pops up telling me that I need java installed.I am using 64 bit Windows 7 but my main browser is 32bit firefox. All my searching online involves browsers crashing but showing error messages or Minecraft launcher opening but then showing only a black screen rather than not opening at all.
I have just started having a problem that I can see others have had in the past, where my browsers (Firefox and Internet Explorer) have suddenly stopped being able to display webpages, but only on one of the computers on my local network. In Firefox I get a message "the connection was reset" for every page including connections to local devices (I can't bring up my router page, for example). Here are some of the things I think might be relevant: I have checked to make sure I am not using proxies in either Firefox or Internet Explorer, or in my System Settings This problem seemed to start occurring after I lost all power in my apartment The 64-bit version of Internet explorer DOES still work I can connect to a range of other things (Dropbox, Windows Update, etc)
I'm working with an Acer 9920 Laptop, with win 7 u installed. Until quite recently everything worked well. But now I have problems. For instance I want to install some software by doubleclicking on the msi file I see in Windows Explorer. After entering Admin credentials I get a message that the file I'm just seeing in WE cannot be found.Similarly, when I want to edit extended system properties, C: Windows system 32systempropertiesadvanced.exe cannot be found.Something apparently related is that when I want to start Eclipse which is a Java app the system fails telling me that no client JVM at xxx can be found. When I log in as an admin everything seems to work right.
On only one of my websites, I am unable to log off or close the window. This happend to me last week on another website. How can I fix this problem. Instead of showing my normal mark it shows as a + mark
When my motherboard fried on my Acer 6930g I bought another Acer 6930g from ebay.
My intention was to put my old hard drive in the new machine and put the new hard drive in the spare hard drive slot that the 6930g has. I have done this and it all works. However.....
As my old HD is nearly full and not running as fast as the empty new one I was thinking of swapping them again. I would though like to put some of my essential programs and docs on the new HD. The new HD has windows 7 home pro 64 bit. My existing HD is windows home 32 bit. I haven't got any of the product keys for my software so i can't reinstall.
How can I move my essential stuff over and keep it working? Not sure if this makes any sense but hoping womeone will know what i am on about.
I just recieved a brand new gaming computer the other day with windows 7 64bit. I downloaded world of warcraft with utorrent and everything went well, I was able to play and all, shut down my computer, but then when I turned my computer back on world of warcraft was gone for some reason, and I dont know what to do now. Is their any way to get my world of warcraft client back? also is there any way to make sure windows 7 saves everything when it shuts down? because it also didn't save my preferences for my desktop either.

PS: i JUST switched from mac to pc, and I haven't used a pc in 5 years. how to prevent my stuff from not being saved that would be awesome.
so i recently downloaded a series of windows updates. i guess it's been a while. anyway. ever since i've downloaded and installed the updates, not all content is loading on webpages. also, everytime i try to load aim, it starts to open but randomly closes.for instance on twitter, no matter what link i go to or what i click on, it just goes to the main page. in addition, when i click on a link that should prompt a menu, it won't work. oh and Internet videos aren't loading.
There's something on my screen that has been occurring recently that I have no idea what it is, where it comes from, or how to get rid of it. I can't click it of do anything but move it and cancel it. It occurs at random occasions but mostly when i'm playing games. It prevents me from typing in those games and on the computer. I don't know where else to go for this or how to get rid of it.
Mostly just speaking to myself, but it'd be awesome if the sticky notes included in the os were networkable. So you could throw sticky notes to other seven machines on your network.
I know there's a couple of programs that do it, but blah to installing a bunch of programs on different computers just for virtual post its, lol.
I clean formatted my Toshiba satellite L745d -s4230 (psk16u) with amd radeon 6520g , a6-3400 vision apu with radeon ,HD graphics 1.40 GHz4gb ramwindows 7 home premium 64-bitI played heroes of newerth on my laptop ,but after formatting it I experienced some lag in game.

I bought this computer as an custom product. It was fine but it slowed down drammatically over the past week. So some people suggested i should try to reinstall Windows 7. The installation went fine but when I was done with the installation i found out lots of things were not functioning any more. For example the computer can't detect the graphics card and claims that it only finds the Standard VGA thingy. I used to connect to interest with Lan cable to the router but that doesnt work either as no options showed up when i want to connect to a new network. Sound isn't working either as it says no headphones detected while there was one plugged in all time. The sata-3 usb port isnt working at all. So is there anything i can do to fix this total mess and get back to work soon? I did create an system image before i reinstalled the system but that wasn't recognized when i have the hard drive plugged in. So everything was in an chaos and i have no clue what should i do next.
I noticed that when I save anything using Google Chrome (my primary browser), whether it be Pictures or Websites, my three gadgets (calendar, clock, weather) blink and flash to the top of my processes. I've tried disabling them and renabling them, but it doesn't work. Turning them off obviously solves the problems.
