My screen goes blank every now and again but all the lights on my pc, mouse and keyboard stay on but i can't make it do anything. I have to power off and on again and sometimes when i power up i get a message of system boot failure
I was wondering is there a way to stop that, on my pc i dont have to do that i click to install things but on a friends computer i have to right click for instance mozilla installer and run as admin how do i stop that?
I just reformatted my computer because it was having problems. I want the computer to stay at a balanced power level, so I selected the 'balanced plan' where it shuts the monitor off after 10 minuted and puts the computer to sleep after 30. When the computer is put to sleep, the wifi goes out, which is a problem for me. I was wondering if I could keep certain things running while it sleeps such as the wifi and other programs that normally stay on during the day.
I had to do a fresh reinstall today and I wanted to know if I should download and install any of the drivers (other than Ethernet LAN to get me online) for my comp'?In particular, the SATA drivers for a 64-bit install http://ca.gigabyte.com/products/pr [...] l=1#driver,I do have to install the audio and video, but otherwise, not sure about the SATA.
i would try to load up a game " minecraft" i get about 20 or so mins into the game, then my monitor, ( which is an hd tv ) goes black randomly, the screen does not come back untill i turn the whole computer off and turn it back on. this has also happens in the middle of watching " netflix" instant streaming and sometimes just watching plain Internet. why is the screen cutting to black, and how do i fix it?
Everything shows up fine until the welcome screen after that it normally used to fade to the desktop but now it goes blank. The screen in Black with only the mouse pointer. Its not hung, i can move the mouse pointer. Then after a minute or so it advances to the desktop. Everything on the desktop loads up in less than 5s. The PC runs fine, it is really fast as there are only a few programs, but only boots slow. My total boot time is about 3-5 min. I think it should be like in a minute or so.I have not tweaked much with the system but have installed a few programs like MS office, Nero, Acrobat and Photoshop. These are the only heavy programs in the PC right now. The only games on the PC are AC1 and AC2. I have uninstalled my graphic driver and reinstalled. I already minimized the programs in the msconfig>startup to the minimum. I have run ccleaner, spybot s&d, Antimalware and i also have a trial copy of Kaspersky AV (upgrading later to 1-year license). there are no peripherals attached during boot except the USB keyboard and mouse. A printer is attached too but is most of the time turned off.
After leaving my comp on overnight i wake up to non-responding programs, i shut down manually and then as i restart this happens. 5minute lag on welcome screen and then it turns blue with a moveable cursor. i have used system restore and created a new user but neither works. i can run perfectly on safe mode.
I've been using my laptop for a while now and had a friend install Windows 7 onto it (because i'm quite rubbish with this sort of thing) and everything has been going great until a few weeks ago.
I loaded it up one day and everything is going fine until it reaches the part where it's supposed to load the log on screen. Instead of a log on screen all i am getting is a black screen with the cursor. Now i can't give you specs to my computer or anything of the like because i simply don't have access to it but i can give as much aid as possible to help find the problem.
One of the things that happens is that when the black screen & cursor appears if i move the mouse or push any buttons the screen goes VERY dim as if i've put it into a lower power mode or i've taken out the power cable. If i push the power button to turn it off even if it's just a tap on the button the screen will go off immediatly even if the laptop is still running.
One of the green lights that i believe is showing if the hard drive is busy or not flashes during the process but after a minute or so of the black screen it'll stop flashing altogether.
I've tried all three safe modes with all the same results, F8 to system repair has given me no love with startup repair finding NOTHING wrong, memory check running through the process only for the same thing to happen and system restore has no restore points to go to.
I've looked for answers in several places and some say i have to use sticky keys to get the screen to come on but the problem is that as of last nights use i turned sticky keys off for a few minutes so i could play a game and forgot to turn them back on afterwards. I've taken a look around the net and can't find a fix to my problem. Reinstall simply is not an option under my current circumstances so i really need a favourable reply.
well yeah used it on my windows vista it did make it faster and never had a problem(no I never bought it :P). then I upgrade to windows 7 and I ran it cleaned the error's and just screwed it up. I need to restore my registry, start up fix doesn't work and I don't have system restore on don't have a backup so I go to CMD in start up fix enter notepad look for files to restore stuff can't really find anything.
I can restore reg files by notepad I mean I tried a lot of stuff so is there any CMD command to restore registry or a reg file I can use to restore registry? tried sfc /scanow (i don't think it restore's registry only file's that are modded files that are not from Microsoft).
I also have an old computer with SATA hard drive running XP SP2, it is connected to samsung LCD tv, it was working properly for months but today while i was using it, the screen went blank(black) nothing showing on lcd, I tried every thing i can but of no use, even connected to other monior also but... nothing displaying, Cpu is running but when I tried to turn it off from power button it didnt response, have to switch it off from electric board.
I am running Windows 7 64-bit and whenever I start up into normal mode it loads a blank desktop with only a mouse. When I try right clicking or doing ctrl-alt-delete and starting task manager nothing happens.
running windows7 x64, i can hear music and my mouse over links, but cant see anything at all. i searched all over Google but cant find an answer either. tried all the normal stuff (running in xp mode, reinstall drivers) but nothing seems to work.
Pc: g73jh-a1 Os 7 Ultimate build 7600 Cpu- i70-stepping b1 Gpu - Ati 5870 Catalyst 10.8 Anti virus - Eset Security 4 All window's and driver's updates are successfully loaded.
Ok last night i was bored so decided to re-paste my G7 so i opened her up and cleaned the Cpu and Gpu nicely. Did my thing re-pasted her up and put everything back in order.I downloaded some benchmark tools such as Hwinfo, Amd gpu clock tools, cpu-z, gpu-z and aida64.I also have ccleaner installed so far that is all i have as of now besides the bench mark and anti virus tools.
I was running hwinfo and checking my temp's earlier today everything seemed normal as i was curing my tim and making sure the temp's where ok.While i was checking the temps on my g7 i went ahead and downloaded some files on my other pc transferring it to my usb so i could plug my usb and download the files from there. All of a sudden my monitor goes blank and everything seem to be fine all the light's where on except the monitor.So i went ahead and dissembled the g7 to make sure that i wasn't pinching any wires that run to my monitor nothing was wrong there i double checked took a look at all my wires and they where fine.I restarted the pc up 3 times before the picture came back so i decided to run a chkdsk scan and this is what i pulled up.

My system is set to shut power to Monitor after 20 mins and to HD 30Mins. This has been working perfectly and suits my position as i frequently have to leave my PC fo 30 mins or so.Add thing last night the monitor was showing the open page (actually Win Live Mail) but the screen was also sjowing a number of rectangle areas a couple of inches wide with pale green and pink lines. The curser was still visible but the mouse an w]keyboard did not work. There was no response at all. I had to close down by pressing the on button for 5 secs. It appeared that the HD had closed down as had the monitor but the image stayed on the screen. Onrebooting I get no response on the Monitor at all. Not even a flicker. I have tried a different monitor but the result is the same. I listened carefully when I pressed the on button and I could hear the HD spin but it stopped very quickly and no other sound emitted aprt fromvery slight fan noise. So I'm stumped as I can't even get into the bios.
have a Dell Inspirion 1525 with Windows 7 RC dual booting with MacOS 10.5.8 on two separate partitions on one 160GB drive.
Windows 7 has been running great since installing on release day, this morning after i turned my laptop on, i got to the Windows bootloader, selected Windows 7, it then goes to a blank screen with the hard drive light constantly on. left it for about 10 minutes, nothing.
my MacOS install on the second partition still works 100%.
i tried a few things, startup repair from the Win 7 install DVD, it sees my Win 7 install on C: but gave an error saying it couldn't fix, the error report mentioned something about "startuprepairoffline" & "NoOSinstalled".
then tried a system restore from the disk, says it couldn't find any restore points (?!)
then tried to fix the mbr via recovery console, says it did the fix, but still won't boot.
Ever since I put Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit on (about 6 hours ago) I get a black screen after boot screen, no login appears.
Black Screen:
* No Mouse
* No Keyboard
* No Screen (Duh) Its not a "Black Screen" more of a blank screen
I have attempted many fixes:
* Update Drivers for mother board
* Update Drivers For GFX card
* Batch Files in Start up (two different ones based on display)
* Updated BIOS
* Removing all other hard drives
Things that Have Worked:
* Running in Safe Mode
* Disabling GFX card
* Remove GFX card Drivers
This is how i came to the conclusion that my black screen is caused by my GFX card. But i don't want to have Windows 7 installed with out it (what would be the point).
I'm having a strange issue with RC1 x32 on my Dell XPS M1330. Everything was working fine a few days ago. It's a relatively fresh install (all I have is avast, itunes, firefox). Now when I boot all I get is a blank screen with a mouse in the center. There's hard drive activity, and I can move the mouse, but I can't login. I've tried typing my password and hitting enter to no avail. Also tried sleep cycling it, no luck.
I think it might be related to a driver called zFlashpoint that I just installed for my SSD. It's been rumored to corrupt parts of the registry. Does anyone have an idea how I can fix this if it's the case? I have a desktop which I can put the SSD in to perform repairs.
Just today I upgraded from Vista to Windows 7. This was a problem I had a few months ago with Vista on this same laptop, and I was hoping it would be fixed with Windows 7, but apparently it hasn't.
I just finished the installation and final reboot and everything, and I logged in, only to have the Welcome spinning circle on the screen for about 30-45 seconds, and then a blank screen with a moving cursor, but nothing else. After using Ctrl-Alt-Del to log out, I logged back in, and this time after 25-30 seconds of the Welcome spinning circle it logged me in.
Like I said, this was an occasional problem I had with Vista as well, but if possible, now that I'm using Windows 7 I'd like for it to not be a problem at all.
I'm running a 5 month old HP G60 laptop. During the upgrade process today I had to update my BIOS and everything else, so I think those should be fine. I just thought this would be the best place to ask if others have had the same problems and if so, what they did to fix it.
Yesterday I recognized, that my screen was blank at start up.I rebooted in safemode, and then the screen was ok.There I restored the computer to an earlier state, and it ran ok afterThe same ocured this morning, and now I don't have the opportunity torestore as there is no restore point.What I did when the computer ran ok was that I started up NFS.
I have a three year old HP laptop running Windows 7 (64 bit) that is misbehaving. It would not boot up recently, and I believe the root was heat related issues. My son likes to use it while setting on his bed - fan gets covered up and the laptop overheats. I added some large rubber feet to the bottom to improve clearance for the fan and that has helped, to a point. The laptop will boot and I can log into my son's account. After 5-10 minutes, the screen goes blank (50% grey scale, neither bright or completely dark). At that point, nothing seems to bring the screen back, so it is unusable and a hard shut down is necessary. I have cleaned it with Malware Bytes in the past and now have Microsoft Security Essentials installed, so I think/hope any virus issues have been resolved. My suspicion is that this is heat related, but exactly what is failing I do not know. Two months ago I replaced the power jack in the laptop and the power supply because of power connection problems. The battery is shot and will not hold a charge, so the laptop can not be used unless it is connected to the power supply. Since I replaced the power supply and jack, the laptop has been functioning okay. It would crash on occasion, but I attributed that to malware. I had to purge the hard drive earlier this year and restore the system because of a malware infestation.
for work, i am making a few Wim files to deploy different versions of windows 7.everything is setup and merged my multiple wim files together. the issue i'm having is when i come to the "Select the operating system you want to install" screen. it shows up blank but i can still select the many versions. it's like i didn't edit a file or add detail somewhere. picture below
I have a HP Pavilion Elite, OP windows seven. The problem i have is when i turn the computer on, it goes through the RAID boot up and the Ethernet Boot up. But after that, all I receive on my monitor is a blank black screen.
Yesterday I upgraded my ACER ASPIRE 7535G from vista to Windows 7. All went smoothly until I had to put the ACER cd back in after the installation to update drivers. It seemed to have crashed during this as the screen simply showed my wallpaper and nothing else, so I turned it off.
Now when i turn my laptop on, it powers up normally, with windows 7 logo etc, then the screen goes blank, the start up sound plays and the screen just stays on, but black.
I recently built a new system and installed Win 7 Home Pro. The install was relatively quick and painless, however, I've got a little problem. Every time I power up the machine Windows begins to start but then stalls at a blank black screen. My keyboard and mouse are powerless although there still seems to be HDD activity. I've let it sit for some time with no resolution and so I hit restart. Restart take me to the "Windows did not close properly screen where I get to choose from various start up modes (safe / normal). I always choose "normal" and the machine boots up just fine and, here's the kicker, if I restart the machine Windows continues to boot up fine. It's only after the machines been powered down to a boot to this black screen.
I have a windows 7 and it has only been one year since I got the computer.Several weeks ago, a problem began to occur where once I turn on the computer and monitor, and I am on the welcome page where I enter in my password, the screen goes black. But the monitor is still on. But when I turn off the monitor and on, it comes back. But immediately after that it goes blank again. Until 1-2 minutes after I log in.
Everything was fine until yesterday,while watching a video,when I went to switch to pt 2 the screen went blank! I was not getting videos anywhere! Not even commercial videos! So I did a system restore,which usually works,and it did! until I went to watch part 4 of the video! it did it again! this time system restore didnt work! I uninstalled and reinstalled adobe flash player and mozilla firefox! nothing has worked! But I can watch videos on internet explorer.But I love Moziila
I'm hoping there' an easy solution that I may not have located yet. A few days ago I sat down at Windows 7 PC and foud the scree wouldn't wke up from sleep mode. Had to force a PC restart and still tyhe same problem I could hear Windows booting and Icold ellwhe I needed to enter my password, could hear Skype etc starting in the background but absolutely nothing from the monitor. So I started in Safe Mode and that worked fine (ie monitor worked fine). So I'm hoping this means there's nothing nasty happened to the memory or anyhing like that. Tried a system restore and still no joy.
I'm having problem when i make install windows 7.when the setup is over and the pc restart for the first time windows7, then my screen turn to black and only the logo is appearing down in the corner of the screen..and i was thinking , maybe it want a lot of time to start so i let it for many many hours but it continues to look like that with the black screen and the logo..
So i try to install in another pc and everything gone just perfect!!
WHAT IS THE PROBLEM FOR MY PC? WHAT CA I DO? don't know:
I tried a lot of times to install it, for almost a month every day! what is wrong with my pc? is it real? only mine?
I didn't think my PC had a problem, I just wished to start it in Safe Mode to do a thorough virus scan.
I could not do so using F8, and when looking at forums to find out why, I see there is a small window of opportunity before the windows logo starts for you to use F8 - unfortunately, for some reason my screen is completely blank until the Windows 7 blue screen appears with the dove, and then my log-in. I don't get anything else before that, nothing loading, nada. But it starts fine.
I remember when I installed Windows 7 (legal copy) that I DID have the normal 'windows starting' and logo - I don't know why it is not showing now! This seems to be my problem starting in Safe Mode, it is difficult to judge the window of opportunity when your screen is blank. Apparently you can use msconfig to reboot in safe mode, but some forums advise against this because malware can use this to keep you in a loop that cannot start..... I am worried now that I have a malware that's stopping me from entering safe mode..
Any advice from the more knowledgeable ? Sorry to babble on, I suppose I need to know why I am not getting the windows logo starting (is it an indicatino of a problem)and is it safe to use msconfig in this case, to boot it in safe mode.
