As the titel says I have a software (a messenger for textbased RPGs similar to Skype, so it is nothing illegal) I want to run twice.
Before I had Windows XP with the same software and it worked like a carm with "Run as user..." After getting a new computer which runs with Windows 7 Premium Home x64 I installed the exact same version of the software, it simply won't open another instance with the "Run as user..." command.
As it is the same software version there can't be any lock within the software to prevent multiple instances as it worked on XP before. So I assume maybe it is some setting in Windows 7 but I haven't found anything useful yet. go through using VM or anything like this just for a simple messenger
i have a toshoba satellite with windows 7 home version I have a couple of old 2.5 hard drives from an old IBM thinkpad that I want to get the pictures from. I bought a SATA/IDE USB cable and plugged it in after a while it loaded and i could see the drive in "my computer", and I could access all the pictures, which was great. (unfortunately I didn't copy across the pictures..). I then tried the second drive, that one hung during the loading process. however since then my laptop just doesn't see either of the drives when I plug them in. Just for clarity have only tried them one at a time and I they both power up.
My 32 bit IE has not worked for a long time I have tried everything and finally tried turning off my add ons and it worked so I went back and tried turning them off one by one and counld not find the one that is causing the problem. Im not even sure what these add ons do im not very advanced in pcs I can just follow instructions.
I have a backup .bat that I have hobbled together from forums such as this. The original was made a few years ago. It worked flawlessly, until I brought it to windows 7. Very funny, now, it only works between 10am and midnight. This has been hell to figure out because sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. I know it has something to do with the context of the "set hour" or "if "%hour.." part, but I can't figure it out. Should be an easy fix for someone familiar with .bat programming. Here is the relevant part:
Code: set hour=%time:~0,2% if "%hour:0,1%"==" "set hour=0%time:~1,1% set folder=%date:~10,4%_%date:~4,2%_%date:~7,2%-%hour%.%time:~3,2% set DateFolder=%date:~10,4%_%date:~4,2%_%date:7,2%
I have built all of the PCs currently in use - one that my youngest has access to has an MSI Motherboard in it (sorry haven't got the mobo manual to hand at the moment.Purchased an upgrade from Windows XP Pro to Windows 7 as youngest in education got a discount on the upgrade. Windows XP has to be present at point of install - cannot be a direct install or installation upgrade from within XP. In XP all the USB ports work normally but in 7 the bottom 2 (USB2) are 'dead' in 7. The MSI forum begs to differ. And I know not to add any USB peripheral device before installing software. Processor is a 2.4 Ghz AMD Athlon 64 AM2 Processor and an AGP card (8x) that requires two power sources. Power supply is 450 W - is this too low? 1 Gb 400 MHz RAM, 170 Gb Hard Drive shared equally between Windows XP and 7.
I have Windows 7 ultimate installed. I used the Task scheduler one time to do a Shutdown of it set at 10pm it worked fine one night now when i set it for a different day it does not work anymore. i have the right trigger, time and date etc set correctly WTH.
I was importing Pix from my Kodak Easy Share camera. After doing that, I unplugged my USB plug, but inadvertently unplugged my Ext HD USb plug(formerly Drive F). I then removed the USB for the camera and then plugged in the HD USB plug.
My computer now showed my Camera as an external device. I uninstalled it. I turned off the computer, but still I can't access the F drive. Finding the device via Ctrl Panel doesn't help either.
I'm new to this. I was working with Windows 7 32 bit and recently decided to take advantage of more RAM for recording music by upgrading to Windows 7 64 bit. However, after the upgrade installation my WD MyBook Studio II 2tb is no longer recognized in "My Computer" when I hook it through firewire OR USB (Yet all other devices work as they should) - So I've been to Disk Management and it shows up as a disk. However, there is still no letter assigned to it. When I right click on it, the only option is to delete volume. As you can see in this picture it shows up as disk 2 with three separate regions.
Now, when I hook it up to a MacBook running Leopard the WD MyBook Studio II works just fine and all of the files are accessible. I've also tried uninstalling the drivers, powering down and reconnecting, updating drivers. I've also switched my firewire controllers to (Legacy) in Device Manager. I still am not able to access my external drive within Windows 7 64 bit Home Premium - YET it worked great with 32 bit.
I can't remember if I disconnected the external drive from the computer when I upgraded Windows, but would that potentially have affected the install? How do I get access to my external drive if it won't show up in "My Computer" when it shows up perfectly fine on the MacBook running Leopard? Right now I'm using just less than half of the drive at around 800 GB and it's made up of two separate 1tb drives. I'm completely lost. Does anyone know a solution to my problem? Also: Windows lists my specific external drive as compatible with Windows 7 64 bit.
I had dual monitors working from Vista desktop, using a VGA/DVI from a single video card. Last week, the HDD failed, so I figured it was time to step up to Win7. Bought Win7 Home Premium, bought HDD and installed.... See dual copies on monitor screens during boot, but when the boot goes to switch over to the HDD, both screen go and remain blank... Hitting keys and moving mouse, I hear disk noise that leads me to believe the machine is processing my input, but I just can't see it. Confirmed by disconnecting one monitor. The machine boots fine w/single monitor hooked up, so it doesn't appear to be a "sour" install. Just odd that everything worked fine in Vista, but balks in Win7.
I have a USB DVB card that works good! 3 days ago I have working on virtual com ports in matlab soft! and after that when I connect dvb card to my laptop usb ports the dvb software doesn't detect dvb card! and shows this message: all capable dvb adapters are busyno free device has been found after that I try to reinstall matlab and dvb soft and dvb driver too, but it hasn't work yet
I got a new laptop but it has windows 7. 1 of the extremely huge problems this operating system has is this absurd thing where you cant arrange your own files in the order that you want.Im not gna waste my time ranting on here as it wont make any difference, but it does astound me that microsoft would employ such thickos who were unable to create an OS that was capable of offering such a basic function! i followed the (this) registry-edit steps lastnight to enable free-positioning of my files (unawave. de/windows-7-tipps/disable-sorting-auto-arrange.html?lang=EN).I did it lastnight and it worked perfectly!I then turned my laptop off as it needed to install its daily updates, but when i restarted it i can no longer move my files around in my pictures/videos/or my music folders!Photo/video files in other folders can still be moved around freely, however as all my pictures and videos are saved by default into those 2 folders this causes me a huge problem!
My harddrive went out and I put a new one in. It was a brand new drive and I loaded Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit from my laptop's recovery disk that came with the inital purchase. When I started to add the drivers 2 of them came up as unable to verify the signatures. Most importantly the driver for my Wifi adapter, which is an Intel Wifi Link 1000 BGN says this. Windows refuses to run it in that state. So I have no internet and it says that the adapter is not installed or is disabled. When I go into the Device Manager the adapter is there with a yellow "!" and has an error code 52 (for unsigned driver). It shows installed and enabled though I installed the driver from the intial driver disc and it says unsigned, I was able to get the latest driver from Intel's website and that too says it can't verify the digital signature. When I boot into the F8 screen and disable driver enforcement I am able to get online.I'm not sure if this is related or not, but regardless of how I boot, Windows updater and troubleshooters do not work.
I have had high definition audio device in my system which never worked despite much effort. Finally I bought a new sound card and installed it's software from it's CD. The sound function started working but now I am again seeing the red cross on volume icon which says no audio output device is installed. I went to device manager but I can't see the new sound card there so that I can reinstall it's driver.
got a dell 531s aint sure for the specs right off hand, BUT i got this error code after putting my hard drive into a different tower an I can NOT get it to go away.i've done everything possible that I'd found online an everything. I'm ready to just part it out to my sister & brother in laws but my fiance needs a computer
I have just installed Windows 7 Home Premium 32 bit on my Dell Precision 670 desktop. At first the sound worked OK untill I downloaded and installed R145551.exe. audio driver. Now there is no sound. The older driver which worked in Windows XP does not work now. Is there a sound card that will be compatible my system as it is now?

I'm just installed windows 7 on my 2009 imac through bootcamp. However there are some problems. Ive noticed when i try to play something on windows media player it will tell me that my computer is running low on memory and to close some windows. Also games run poorly if at all. I suspect its a driver issue but have gone through all the auto updates etc.
As I shutdown/restart my laptop, I notice it switches to a secondary desktop that has been running programs.A good example would be trying to open my Task Manager, I can Ctrl-Alt-Del and it will allow me to open Task Manager - however when I click on Task Manager, it opens on the Desktop running in the background. I can't even access the Desktop in the background, it only shows up as I'm shutting down - closing programs that I tried opening awhile ago.
I am running into this issue of having complete access to one PC running windows 7 from another one that is also running windows 7. One of the PC's is a windows 7 pro 32 bit and the other is window 7 ultimate 64 bit. I have had them setup with public and dedicated folder sharing. But from time to time I find that a file I want to get off one or the other was not saved to a shared folder. I have been looking for a way to allow complete access from one PC to other one (going both directions). I use 2 PC all the times and it really depends on where I am in the house as to what one I am using as one is laptop and the other is a desktop. They are both on the same network. It is just one of the strange things that I have not been able to find a way to get complete file access without the use of software like Teamviewer or others like it.What I would like to do it just go to the network location in the windows explore to get the files I want from the other PC.
When I logged on to my windows 7 computer it was slow and then I noticed that the clock and date were wrong. I opened the task manager and found that the cpu was running at 100%. After using bleepingcompter website to find that there was a malware I also went through the startup menu and removed unwanted items. I also uninstalled Itunes which was the last program installed on compter. Right now I have malware software called Malwarebytes. I am doing a full scan its been running for and hour and a half. I just checked and the cpu is still running at 100%. The only thing I did not remove was the lastest windows updates.
So past week had this odd problem with my mouse pointer. It will sometimes glitch/lag on my desktop screen while I am moving it. Similar to like when you are playing an online game and you experience lag and bounce forward several spots or something like that. Resources are available and cpu is not running high under load. Checked drivers and they are up to date.
My son's Acer laptop seems to be running at 100% all the time. When I check Resource Monitor, spool service seems to be the culprit. It runs all of the time?
My cpu usually run around 30%My PSU recently died and I replaced it with a larger one.I cleared my cmos when I mistook it for the power button (no idea what it does).after putting in the new psu my cpu runs at 80-100%.my resource monitor puts my browser at 50-60% and everything else >5When I close my browser and open any demanding program (games) my cpu will spike and stay at 100%.
Yesterday, I installed Foxit Reader, then decided I didn't like it. When I attempted to re-install, I received the error message that "the windows installer service could not be accessed." It was listed as running in the services applet of administrator tools, but would not work. While then exploring the system, I found other things that wouldn't work--for example, audio, which is what put me on to the same problem last May--and others. I got many "class not registered" errors. SFC won't run. When booting to the CD and running SFC, I got the old message about a pending repair, although I can find no trace of one. Ran malware scanners, of course, and the system came clean. Clean boot was not useful. The most significant thing I have found, which is probably at the root of this, is that in task manager, there are no instances of svchost running, unlike the usual ten or fifteen that normally run.I had this problem in May, and ended up doing a complete re-install of Windows 7 Home Premium. I would like to avoid going through that again. It's difficult with visual impairment. There is one potential similarity to now and the situaton in May, other than the symptoms described above. In May, I had tried installing a new nvidia card, which Windows wouldn't recognize, so I took it out and when I booted back to Windows, the above symptoms appeared. Yesterday, I saw in event viewer a dcom error, which traces back to the nvidia updatus "user."
I have an Acer 5810tz running windows 7 home premium, my computer just started running very slow. I have ran an indepth scan with Mcafee and no issues were detected. The computer constantly runs at 100 %.

I have a HP Pavilion dv6 laptop that is running on Windows 7 and is a little over 2 years old. Often it, for no good reason, starts to run at 100% CPU and makes doing anything impossible.
