I'm just installed windows 7 on my 2009 imac through bootcamp. However there are some problems. Ive noticed when i try to play something on windows media player it will tell me that my computer is running low on memory and to close some windows. Also games run poorly if at all. I suspect its a driver issue but have gone through all the auto updates etc.
View 4 Replies View RelatedAs I shutdown/restart my laptop, I notice it switches to a secondary desktop that has been running programs.A good example would be trying to open my Task Manager, I can Ctrl-Alt-Del and it will allow me to open Task Manager - however when I click on Task Manager, it opens on the Desktop running in the background. I can't even access the Desktop in the background, it only shows up as I'm shutting down - closing programs that I tried opening awhile ago.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI am running into this issue of having complete access to one PC running windows 7 from another one that is also running windows 7. One of the PC's is a windows 7 pro 32 bit and the other is window 7 ultimate 64 bit. I have had them setup with public and dedicated folder sharing. But from time to time I find that a file I want to get off one or the other was not saved to a shared folder. I have been looking for a way to allow complete access from one PC to other one (going both directions). I use 2 PC all the times and it really depends on where I am in the house as to what one I am using as one is laptop and the other is a desktop. They are both on the same network. It is just one of the strange things that I have not been able to find a way to get complete file access without the use of software like Teamviewer or others like it.What I would like to do it just go to the network location in the windows explore to get the files I want from the other PC.
View 5 Replies View RelatedWhen I logged on to my windows 7 computer it was slow and then I noticed that the clock and date were wrong. I opened the task manager and found that the cpu was running at 100%. After using bleepingcompter website to find that there was a malware I also went through the startup menu and removed unwanted items. I also uninstalled Itunes which was the last program installed on compter. Right now I have malware software called Malwarebytes. I am doing a full scan its been running for and hour and a half. I just checked and the cpu is still running at 100%. The only thing I did not remove was the lastest windows updates.

Similar to like when you are playing an online game and you experience lag and bounce forward several spots or something like that. Resources are available and cpu is not running high under load. Checked drivers and they are up to date.

View 3 Replies View RelatedYesterday, I installed Foxit Reader, then decided I didn't like it. When I attempted to re-install, I received the error message that "the windows installer service could not be accessed." It was listed as running in the services applet of administrator tools, but would not work. While then exploring the system, I found other things that wouldn't work--for example, audio, which is what put me on to the same problem last May--and others. I got many "class not registered" errors. SFC won't run. When booting to the CD and running SFC, I got the old message about a pending repair, although I can find no trace of one. Ran malware scanners, of course, and the system came clean. Clean boot was not useful. The most significant thing I have found, which is probably at the root of this, is that in task manager, there are no instances of svchost running, unlike the usual ten or fifteen that normally run.I had this problem in May, and ended up doing a complete re-install of Windows 7 Home Premium. I would like to avoid going through that again. It's difficult with visual impairment. There is one potential similarity to now and the situaton in May, other than the symptoms described above. In May, I had tried installing a new nvidia card, which Windows wouldn't recognize, so I took it out and when I booted back to Windows, the above symptoms appeared. Yesterday, I saw in event viewer a dcom error, which traces back to the nvidia updatus "user."

I have a HP Pavilion dv6 laptop that is running on Windows 7 and is a little over 2 years old. Often it, for no good reason, starts to run at 100% CPU and makes doing anything impossible.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI was backing up to an external Seagate hard drive and got the BSOD. When Windows restarted it shows the backup is running even though it is not. Nothing I do has any effect. According to the Task Manager Backup is not running. Rebooting doesnt help. I am running Win 7 Ultimate (64) on an ASUS computer, 8 Gb ram, AMD Athlon II X2 2.80 GHz processor. This is not the first time I have been backing up to this external drive for about 6 months and I have had no problems.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI had a virus a few weeks ago and had to do a system restore. Don't know if my problems started than but I know I have them now. My IE 9 (64bit) running on Windows 7 does not show any Javascripts. The Javascripts tag is enabled in the security option and I do see the Javascript with both Chrome and FF, but not IE 9. Also, when I go to IE 9's about box there is no version, cyper strenth or product ID. I tried to reinstall the program, but could not because I would get an error notice that a new version of IE is already installed. I also tried to install IE 10, but it would not install and messed up my IE9 to the point that I had to do a system restore again. I have been searching the web without too much luck.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI am trying to run a USB microscope on my work laptop (Win 7 Enterprise SP1, 32bit, Core i5). As I am not an administrator I am having trouble getting it working
The microscope (Veho VMS-004) requires its own drivers and program to operate. I have solved the latter by running the program from a U3 memory stick, but I still need to find a way of installing/running the drivers. Can the drivers be run in the same way, and if not is there?
(And yes I know that I am not strictly supposed to be using non-approved drivers/programs on a work laptop, but the approval process takes months to complete.)
Been trying to play Zoo Tycoon 2 for a while, I've uninstalled and installed many times, installed new updates, run at different compatibility and as administrator but still get the same problem of it doing nothing. What happens is that start it up, changes to windows basic then nothing happens but when I go into task manager it shows Zoo Tycoon 2 Executable is running when its really not.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI recently bought the Bioshock PC-DVD despite having some worries about compatibility, and I've just completed it without having any issues. Unfortunately I still can't install the 1.1 patch, and there's a bit of sound crackle at the loading screen, but hopefully there should be no problems that affect your experience with this configuration. I've heard Steam copies work without problems anyway, but this may not work as it did with my hard copy.
I'm using Windows 7 x64bit, build 7100. Hopefully hardware info is in my profile.
Part 1: Right-click the Bioshock.exe icon and click 'Properties'.
Select the 'Compatibility' tab, and check the box which says "Run this program in compatibility mode for:", then select 'Windows XP (Service Pack 2)' from the drop-down menu.
Part 2: Download Game Booster, install, run, then click "Switch to Gaming Mode!".
A dialogue box will pop-up asking if you want to close other applications. It's up to you what you close, but I'd advise closing them all.
This program temporarily stops all unnecessary processes to maximise free RAM and processing power. It happens to disable all of the fancy Windows effects which I've heard is the main cause of issues with running the game. Don't worry, once you're done playing you can restore all of the closed processes by clicking the 'normal mode' button.
Make sure you save any important documents before running the program, as it won't restore these.
Part 3: Right click on your Bioshock.exe icon again, and select "Run as administrator'.
Part 4: Be nice to the little sisters.
I've read that making sure the Bioshock folder isn't set to 'Read Only' is important, though I've not had any problems with this option still checked.
I know everything but the Game Booster step is pretty much common knowledge, but I thought I might as well go through it all.
I've done this before, but can't remember how to now. I have a folder which contains the contents of a CD. I'd like to run this cd without actually burning this img to a cd. I know there's away to use magiciso to run the files as if from a cd without requiring burning the image.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI just completed a new HTPC build. I was able to install the Corsair Neutron GTX SSD just fine and loaded Windows on it no problem so everything is peaches and cream. Since I am only planning on running the OS and programs from the SSD I bought a 3TB mech HDD that I plan to rip movies to and store all my media etc. I bought the Seagate Barracuda ST3000DM001. After reading on the web I realized the way to utilize the full 3TB of the drive was to format it as a GTP drive. This worked just fine and now Windows can see the full 3TB but the problem is that now the system is getting confused between the SSD and the mech HDD. What I mean by that is that every time I restart the system it goes to the black screen with the blinking cursor because the system is trying to boot from the Seagate vs. the Corsair Neutron.
I can't tell you how many times I have went into the BIOS and made sure that the the ONLY boot option available is the SSD, I have tried making it the number 1 option with the other hard drive as number 2 etc...etc...I have tried every configuration and no matter what I do it tries to revert back to the Seagate as the number 1 boot option. Also even when I have the OS booted up on the SSD it runs slowly and gets hung up and applications don't respond. The minute I take the mech HDD out everything runs smoothly again.
It is an HP dv7-4080us Notebook with Intel i7 processor, running windows 7 64bit. for the past 2 years, it has been running very fast, but then I brought it on one of my vacations. After that, it ran very slow, and I have not been able to fix it. It runs fast in safe mode. I scanned it with Norton, and I'm currently scanning with Avira. No viruses. I also made it so that no processes or services that weren't needed for the system started on startup. I barely noticed any change in speed.
