Error Code 0x490. Read Every Forum On The Site An Nothings Worked?
Oct 6, 2012
got a dell 531s aint sure for the specs right off hand, BUT i got this error code after putting my hard drive into a different tower an I can NOT get it to go away.i've done everything possible that I'd found online an everything. I'm ready to just part it out to my sister & brother in laws but my fiance needs a computer
I've had trouble with my machine starting. I've done all the advice the 7 Forum suggests, running start up 3 times...etc and it will work for a day or two, then not start. Then if I hit the reset button a couple of times, it will go into the start up repair and I end up with this message: Repair Action/ System files Integrity check and repair Result Failed / Error code = 0x490 Time Taken / 700863 ms I've run sfc from an elevated window and it says everything is fine.
i recently got a computer from my aunt, and decided to put windows 7 on it. Before I installed it, I put in a Geforce 8800 graphics card and a (2nd) cd rom drive. After 20 failed attempts to install windows 7 (it kept freezing at the completing installation part) it worked after i disconnected the new graphics card and one of the hard drives. Now, however, i keep on getting periodic blue screens with the following error messages : Memory Management, and PFN_List Corrupt. I ran a memory diagnostic and it said that the memory is fine. What is wrong with my computer? I also ran a system repair thing from the windows 7 disk, and it came up with this error: System File Integrity Check and Repair Error Code 0X490
My Hardware is:
AMD Anthlon 64 x2 Dual Core Processor 6000+ 2 Hitachi HDT725032VLA SCSI 320 gb hard drives Nvidia Geforce 8800 GS Graphics Card 3gb of system memory
I want to remove my optical drive (ASUS dvd/rw) as I never use it, however after I disconnected it Windows wont load. It begins to load and then flashes a blue screen and restarts. If I plug my optical drive back in everything is boots up fine. how I can remove my drive and still be able to boot?
Things I have tried (with no success):
- Disabling and uninstalling the drive from the control panel
- checking boot priority (SSD is my boot drive), optical drive is now completely removed from boot sequence in BIOS (it was 3rd)
In windows repair (following the restart from blue screen) I found this: Root cause found recent driver installation or uprgrade may be preventing the system from starting Repair Action: system files integrity check and repair Result: Failed Error Code: 0x490
Im running a single Windows 7 Ultimate x86 OS on my laptop and it used to work very well till earlier today once I get back home trying to use my computer as usual to find out that it always runs the startup repair after showing the words windows is loading files instead of starting windows normally. Once the diagnostic & repair process is done it tells me that Startup Repair cannot repair this computer automatically. When I view the details I get the following under Root cause found:
After many times doing the previous repairs with no result I went to Command Prompt in order to check my system drive to find out that both Windows & Program Files directories are not existed there anymore. Instead, theres a Windows.old directory that contains those 2 system directories as well as Users & PerfLogs directories plus the autoexec.bat & config.sys files. Sure theres noway to use the system restore tool or anything else even using my Windows boot DVD. Still cant use the cmd commands single handedly to fix this.As I said earlier I have never faced such problem before plus I have no idea how to regain my windows since I can never format my system drive as I need to backup all the files, settings, bookmarks & favorites located in my user profile first.
A site I visit occasionally - Sport Lemon - From Bar - From Sport - Watch Live Sports Online - FromSport - recently changed names and since then the home page shows but all of the links return a "404 - Not Found" error. Tried with four browsers - Opera (2), IE9, Waterfox 16 - with caches cleared. Works fine at public library and ISP says it's ok for them. Firewall is Comodo and Java is disabled, tho it doesn't seem the site's using it. Win 7x64
Trying to decide who to use for my Medicare Drug Plan, I'm getting this error message from this site (SilverScript). The error (on Firefox 17) occurs after I enter a drug and click enter.
as I need to make a decision before the end of the week.
I need to read several .txt files and search them for a specific string, lets say "key1" and "key2." If the file has key1, then it needs to be moved into directory1. If the file has key2, then it needs to be moved to directory2. There's no telling ahead of time what line the string is going to be on, so I'm guessing I could use "Find" to search for the key? Then how do I loop through all the files, read them, then sort them into the different directories?
In the last few months I have been getting error messages in my Yahoo mail account. It will not go to next email and returns an 'Error Code 5' or recently an 'Error Code 15'. It says "Sorry for the inconvenience. You have stumbled upon an unexpected, temporary problem." This happens every other email. What are these codes and why is this happening?
i need the driver for windows 7....error code 28.My laptop is a philips x58......please help....the message i get is Mass Storage Controller Driver not installed
TLDR: I get the "A disk read error occurred" error but the system disk is readable and checks OK in the recovery USB. So, I have two hard drives--a terabyte drive with some data on it and a smaller drive with the Windows 7 installation on it--and a USB drive. I made the USB drive into a recovery USB using the instructions here Installing Windows 7 System Recovery into USB Flash Drive | Raymond.CC Blog with the addendum found in the comments. I made a system image of the smaller drive via the control panel and then put the image in the terabyte drive. I then replaced my smaller hard drive with a new drive of a comparable size.In order to restore the drive, I booted into the recovery USB, formatted the new hard drive with ntfs, made it active, and ran wbadmin start recovery -version:xxx -items:C: -itemtype:Volume -backupTarget:C: -recoveryTarget: where C was the terabyte drive and D is the new drive. I may have the drives mixed up here, but I assure you I had them correct when I actually ran the command
After a reset, I got some generic error so I went back into the bios, and set the new drive to be at the top of all boot lists, and then rebooted. It was at this time I got the above error. I feared that my drive was actually DOA, so I booted back into the recovery. I did a D:;dir and saw that all of my old files did indeed exist, so I figure it was a boot issue. I ran the boot repair utility in the recovery menu and it said there were no errors and I should restart. I didn't restart, and instead ran a chkdsk D: /f and found no errors. I did a bootsect /nt60 /all /mbr and restarted and still nothing changed. I even tried a "bcdedit /timeout 10" and I do not see the boot loader before getting this error. Not sure if that is expected or not but I'll throw that in here.
I am using Windows 7 32-bit Premium. I'm trying to run a Batch file with several dll's, and I'm getting this error:Banner: Error Occurred - Add LicenseBody: Unable to enumerate resources. I have this issue resolved but I still wonder why it always resets to the wrong way.I always have to click on the set mode to "What you see is what you get".This wan't true until a few months ago. This isn't a big issue now that I know what to do (it drove my crazy for a while) but I'm curious as to whether there is a way to set the default to "What you see is what you get".
I using MS Word Office 7 - while typing, the caps key is locked now when striking letters. When hitting "4" key on top row, changes to $ sign and back just fine.

I am trying to join multiple pc's to the same workgroup and would like to know if its possible to set up to have one master pc control that can change all passwords in workgroup to mirror its changes without making it a domain?
I'm having the same issue though, and to every suggestion I still cannot get in. The only difference is my HDD is not partitioned. Even if i go into the BIOS and change it to boot cd first because i have a vista dvd in there it still gives me a read disc error.
I upgraded to 7 with student upgrade discount downloaded fyi.
All of my specs are in my profile ( i think, first time so yeah. )
The things that i've tried are:
Plugged my HDD into a friends computer, was able to access all the files.
Between last night (Oct 4th) and today (Oct 5th) My cd rom or Sims 2 Launcher isn't working. It tries to auto run without much success and then when I click on the Sims 2 Launcher, my cd rom will tell that a disk is not inserted into cd/dvd rom or I get get an error message that simply says Sims 2 and a Red X. Have un-installed Mansion & Garden pack then re-installed hoping that would resolve the issue..
