Jan 4, 2013I using MS Word Office 7 - while typing, the caps key is locked now when striking letters. When hitting "4" key on top row, changes to $ sign and back just fine.

Feb 3, 2011There are strange icons when I am in Windows 7 with Office 2007. I first noticed this when I needed to do a project. Because of the lack of new software, I had to save the file in the doc file format. Then, when I tried to open it to edit it, I noticed that the file icon was not right. It was the blank file icon with the Word 2007 icon on it. Then, I noticed that the rtf files have the correct file icon for doc files. The files can still open, but the wrong icon drives me nuts!

Jan 18, 2012Just got a new Windows 7 machine. Installed Word 2002 and Excel from my Office XP disks with no problem whatsoever. Once in a while text in my document will be highlighted and start flashing, and closing the document or stopping the program in task manager is the only thing that stops it. It might have to do with erroneous commands coming from my Dragon Naturally Speaking program, but I'm not sure.
Question: Is it likely that if I ran Word 2002 in Windows XP compatibility mode it might run a little better? I have Home Premium Windows 7 so I don't have the Windows XP MODE, but it's my understanding that I can run things in a compatibility mode, or are those the same things? I'm OK with it how it is but wouldn't mind eliminating this glitch.
Office 2010 SP1: Opening Word 2003 Documents?
Sep 15, 2011since I installed SP1 for Office 2010 I have problems with opening some (not all!) older Word documents created with Word 2003 (*.doc). I get a message that Word can't read the document and it is probably corrupt.On a other client (same OS, Office 2010 without SP1) I can open the same document without difficulty.

Oct 20, 2011Just started using a new workstation with Office 2010 installed by OEM. Everything worked fine for a few days, and then every time i attempt to open a Word file or Excel file i get the MS Office dialog box that states "please wait while windows configures Microsoft Office 2010". The dialog box stays visible for 30-45 seconds and then the program opens and works fine.
Ran a repair, four times, didn't fix it.
All of my research leads me to a solution of uninstalling and re-installing. I'm not buying that if everything worked fine for several days, that a bad install will make the program stop functioning properly.
I also noticed, while visiting help within outlook, that the product was still a trial version and not currently activated. I have entered the activation code numerous times with no luck.

Mar 3, 2011Ok this is wierd I have a client using Office 2007 pro and some of her docs that she recently updated and the problem is when she prints the docs text that she deleted is printing over the top of new text she inserted into the doc.
Now when you have said doc open in WORD the deleted text is not there in any view and does NOT show in "print preview".
I opened said doc with WORDPAD and the deleted text shows up at the bottom so its still in the word doc somewhere imbedded so it prints over the top of the actual text in the doc.

Oct 13, 2011I am trying to install office 2007 as part of a system rebuild after installing a new hard drive. I get a window saying install was successful, I can open power point or excel but when I try to open word it hangs up at the word logo page. I have done remove programs in control panel, I have used revo uninstall to try to clean the registry. I suspect a corrupted fragment in the registry but don't know how to get at it.
