View 1 Replies View RelatedOn my old computer I have Excel docs prepared using Windows XP and MS Office 2000. I have transferred all to a portable hard drive. My new computer has Windows 7. I've installed Office 2003 because I do not like the current version of Office. When I open the Word docs they are fine. However, when I open the Excel docs they appear as a .pdf not supported by Adobe. When I open them on my wife's computer which is Vista and MS Office 2000, they are fine. I really do not want to have to recreate the Excel docs using Office 2003. What, if anything, can I do to have the 2000 Excel docs transferred to 2003 Excel.

View 1 Replies View Relatedsince I installed SP1 for Office 2010 I have problems with opening some (not all!) older Word documents created with Word 2003 (*.doc). I get a message that Word can't read the document and it is probably corrupt. On a other client (same OS, Office 2010 without SP1) I can open the same document without difficulty.
View 1 Replies View RelatedJust started using a new workstation with Office 2010 installed by OEM. Everything worked fine for a few days, and then every time i attempt to open a Word file or Excel file i get the MS Office dialog box that states "please wait while windows configures Microsoft Office 2010". The dialog box stays visible for 30-45 seconds and then the program opens and works fine.
Ran a repair, four times, didn't fix it.
All of my research leads me to a solution of uninstalling and re-installing. I'm not buying that if everything worked fine for several days, that a bad install will make the program stop functioning properly.
I also noticed, while visiting help within outlook, that the product was still a trial version and not currently activated. I have entered the activation code numerous times with no luck.

Is Microsoft 2007 compatible on Windows 8 or do I have to go to 2010? If I purchase the Microsoft 2010 from you, how many times can that be installed on my computers? I have 3, and I need the office version with outlook, excel, word, etc

View 1 Replies View RelatedThere are strange icons when I am in Windows 7 with Office 2007. I first noticed this when I needed to do a project. Because of the lack of new software, I had to save the file in the doc file format. Then, when I tried to open it to edit it, I noticed that the file icon was not right. It was the blank file icon with the Word 2007 icon on it. Then, I noticed that the rtf files have the correct file icon for doc files. The files can still open, but the wrong icon drives me nuts!

View 4 Replies View RelatedMy old Office 2003 is unable to work normally on new Windows 64 bit Dell. Old files (transferred from old computer) and New Documents created on new computer using Word fail to open immediately and require User Account action from winword.exe every time I try to open any document (several steps). Any way to resolve this short of buying Office 2010?

View 3 Replies View RelatedHad to re-format HD, and seems to be working now.But for how much longer, who knows. On the old setup, I had MS WORD and Excel. Many existing files of both.I only have, if I remember right, 2 or 3 downloads allowable/available from the Student Edition of them that I purchased a while ago.So, I don't want to use up what is left on my present PC, as I have real doubts about it lasting much longer.I heard about Open Office, and that it is free, and "completely" compatible with the MS equivalents. True? Are there "better" free ones that would work very well with my existing WORD and Excel stuff?

View 1 Replies View RelatedIn the old Microsoft Word 2003, the user is capable of printing an address on the envelope with an associated bar-code to make the USPS sending process go much faster. I believe this was accessed through E-postage properties. On Word 2007, for some reason, the same functionality is absent. Word 2007 allows you to print an address, however; only absent the bar code. Is there a way to put this functionality back in 2007 or is there an alternative way to activate it?When accessing E-postage properties through the 2007 version, it's saying that you have to install a third party application.
