View 3 Replies View RelatedI think someone copied a file from my laptop onto their USB stick while I was at work. I got home and started to work on the file, then when I pressed save it said 'cannot find location, insert removable storage device into drive d' (or something like that) so I 'saved as' in another location, then checked my 'recent places' folder. Sure enough there was evidence of a removable disk being modified on my laptop whilst I was at work. I confided this to my house mate, checked my laptop again later that night and it had been deleted from the recent places folder. I now want to confront that person about what happened as it is now obvious to me that they had copied my file, but wondered if there's any way I can get the evidence back. I have tried the undo button, but to no avail. This happened on Tuesday (8th).

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a "SanDisk Ultra CompactFlash" 4GB card and an internal card reader (HP desktop). When I insert the card into the reader, the green light above the slot turns on as if it recognizes the device, but it doesn't show up. Device Manager says that the driver is installed and working properly, and I have uninstalled it,reinstalled it, and restarted my computer. A system restore isn't really an option because it isn't my computer.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a multi-function card reader installed in my computer and it will not read any of the flash cards I have, this card reader has USB connection on the front which works fine. I am attaching a screen shot it is the generic USB Hub right under Universal Serial Bus controllers that is the cause of this problem. As you can see the the Sony cam USB device on this hub is working fine, but I cannot plug in any CF Flash XD or SD or MS flash card to the reader they are not seen. I have disabled the reader restarted the computer no luck. I am sure it is a realtek card reader I have tried installing latest driver from realtek with no luck. This was working fine in the past in fact the realtek drivers also worked and showed up in device manager.

im on a dell dimesion ive searched dells website to see for a fix but found nothing so before i go out and buy another card reader that is 7 compatable i thought id ask you folks.
"One of the USB devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned, and windows does not recognize it. I have 4 USB ports in the back which are connected to my printer, mouse, keyboard and external hard drive which are all functioning fine.
I have two USB ports on the front which are unoccupied. I have an internal memory card reader in this desktop, and that's the only thing I think it can be.
To resolve the problem it is asking me to reconnect the device or replace it. I have disconnected and reconnected th memory card reader while the pc was on, the pc recognizes a device has been disconnected and reconnected, but not what it is.
Under device manager, it says, "Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)" I have therefore disabled it for now, but would like to get it working. Do you think this problem wil be fixed automatically in an update sometime.
When I go to driver details, it says "No driver files are required or have been loaded for this device" And when I click on update driver, it says I have the latest driver.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a problem getting Media Center to display my Photos showing the individual photos contents of each folder.I am running Windows 7 HP 64 bit with all updates. My MEDIA (movies, music & photos) are on a separate hdd (M). Each of the media formats has it's own folder on the M drive, Movies, Music & Photos. I have no problem with the movies or the music. However, when I choose "pictures" in Windows Media Center only the individual photos folders are shown....no photos are shown in these folders. I see the individual folders but no contents. I have set up "Libraries" on the C: drive; Music, Video & Photos. When I click on photos in the "Libraries" all the photos folders are show each with it's own photos. I have "Shared" these libraries as well as each folder on the Media drive M. The format of the individual photos is jpg. I have run SFC/Scannow.

I've been using my parents computer for the last few months and decided to make my own user/log-in the other day. After doing so, I cut/pasted my photos folder into my new user directory (or whatever, I'm not very techie..). I have thousands of photos, my BF is a photographer, and I can view most of them. However, in one particular folder 90% of them aren't viewable! Says I don't have permission... When I log back into parents windows, I can see the photos in my directory (as they are no longer located in theirs) but there are little gold padlocks on the ones I cannot see on my log-in. I've tried changing permissions, ownership, you name it.. I've looked for help on line and tried everything. The only thing that seems to work is if I right click on each individual photo and change things that way.

View 6 Replies View RelatedMy husband and I just bought a Dell Inspiron with Windows 7 Home on it. He bought it for use at work, and when he took it to work, they upgraded it to Windows 7 Professional. I don't know who they had working on this, but it seems that they didn't make a back-up of anything first, and my husband doesn't know enough about computers to have thought to make one, and he didn't realize that the people doing this to his computer might just not know what they were doing. Anyway, EVERYTHING he had on the computer before is GONE...right down to the drivers for the wireless and the BLU-ray disc drive. I can put that stuff back, but he had also just finished writing a sermon on the computer, and that's gone too, of course. A lot of work that unfortunately he didn't save anywhere else.
