I have a Minecraft server in Kaspersky's safe run folder which is located in 'My Computer' so me and my brother have easy access between our user accounts (it's tiring going back and forth through our documents.) I removed Kaspersky and I'm sure I unchecked 'Remove Safe Run Folder' and it erased . I've tried data recovery software but it doesn't have support for folders in My Computer.

View 0 Replies View RelatedIf I minimize a folder or firefox window etc I cannot bring it back. If I mouse over the tab at the bottom the preview flashes up for a second then goes and any clicking or alt tabbing will not restore it.
the two most prominent being an issue with the 2 monitor setting bringing the window up on a non existent screen and a program on the startup boot list causing the problem. I have eliminated both these possibilities and a few others and the problem still persists. As a workaround I can still access the windows through task manager > applications and switch to/bring to the front but this is very awkward and I need a fix not a work around.
If I run system restore to a date preceding the installation of a program, will that remove the folders I now see which are leftovers?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI had to use the Dell Back up and Restore to rebuild my OS and , except for all my email history, address book, profile and bookmarks, I seem to be up and running again. I want to back up to a WD MY Book 1tb external on a regular basis so I don't loose all my programs and profile.
I followed the easy instructions I found here on the Forum for a full system backup and watched the green bar progress to 10-15% complete and left the room. When I returned hours later the screen said "improper shut down" or something similar. When I rebooted there was a backup folder on my external but folder properties indicated it was completely empty.
The next day I tried to create a System Image Bup (Shadow Copy?) and the green bar progressed normally but, when I returned to the PC, the black dos screen said unable to find some file to boot. Again, folders were created but they were empty.
Does Windows 7 BU and restore normally restart the computer after creating a backup file? If so, can I prevent this so I can see where the program is breaking down?
I did create a System Repair disk on a DVD and it seems to have created that okay. The file is almost 300mb so I hope that means it will work if I ever need it.
I do know this new MY Book is a lot more complicated than my other Seagate external and seems to want to format and name files for me?

When attempting to access the shared folders (with read/write permissions), I get the spinning wheel and then it just eventually says 1 item selected at the bottom of the explorer window and stops. The folders do not expand. They're on the same workgroup with no other computers, I read that they should be or something.

Yet when I do it the other way round I have full access with out any password ect. I have not set up any passwords and have tried my home group password but not got any joy. I have 2 other laptops both running windows 7 and have no problems networking between all windows 7 systems. all computers are running norton firewall and are configered the same.

See, I'm a game modder, and this requires me to have many folders open at once. The problem is, when my computer goes to sleep and then wakes up, the order of my folders on the taskbar is changed. This bugs me to no end, and I'm wondering how I can stop this reordering from happening.
The HomeGroup shares have been a recurring issue that I haven't been able to solve, but the really perplexing one is the shared folder issue which just cropped up. Some of my shared folders still work, but e, g and h (music and video respectively) for some reason spit back "Access Denied" on all of the other computers in my house, this is in spite of the fact that Permissions on them are set to Full Control for Everyone.With regards to HomeGroup shares, they simply don't show up no matter what I do, I'd like to fix that one too, but I'm not sure what I can do to fix that.

So a couple of weeks ago, I downloaded the Windows 8 Consumer Preview. After a week, it started crashing a lot, to the point where I couldn't get past the log on screen without it crashing. I wanted to uninstall Windows 8, but I found out that you can't. I decided to just restore my computer to its factory settings. I backed up all my files on 5 Verbatim DVD+R. Now I am using Windows 7 again. When I tried to restore the files on the DVD, the Back up and Restore feature wouldn't let me restore from the DVD. All my school work, picture, and music is gone now.

In case it makes any difference, the computer that hard drive originally was in ran Windows XP Pro.I recently got a new computer, with Windows 7 and had the hard drive put into this new computer, along with the hard drive that came in the computer.I can get to the drive itself, but when I try to access folders or files, either access is denied or folders which should contain more folders, are empty. View 4 Replies View Related1st off, My user name is not a joke. I have a hp G72-B27CL Notebook that was purchased online from aGoodwill auction. The notebook looks brand new & in their listing for the auction they said it just needed a hard drive so I put my WD 500 GB hd in it & attempted to do a system recovery. It went through the whole process & ended with Welcome TO YOUR NEW HP COMPUTER, About a minute later it was showing Restoration Incomplete with the options to Retry or try to find out what the problem was, Well it would only allow me to try again, Which I did (actually 2 more times) Of course same results. Their is no recovery CD'S that came with the computer, However it does have the windows product key # on the back of it. This computer will not let me do anything else except keep trying to recover it. (Which is a total waste of time) Should I erase everything on that hard drive ? It really has nothing I care if I lose or not & how would I go about erasing the hard drive ? The computer I'm talking about wont let me do anything except what I have shared.
And I don't want to put the hard drive in another computer & mess up what ever computer I put it in. This really is a bummer because I felt I was getting a good deal + helping out a organization, So the bottom line is right now I have a pretty laptop that doesn't operate & I am currently down $232.00 + shipping cost. I truly apologize for the length of this post, But as I stated from the start I'm truly lost. I just bought a Packard bell notebook last week, I know is going to sound silly, but after I have created my user password, next time I'll turn the computer on, I find out that I forgot my password, I didn't created a recovery disk, or a password reset disk for this computer.
Please I just need some help to restore the computer to a factory settings. The computer didn't come with CD or DVD factory.
