Reformatting Windows 7 System To XP / "No Drive Found"

I had an old thread on Windows 7 running really unreliable on my system, and after speaking with a Sony support person today, I've found out that Sony does not support Windows 7 on my system. It's a bummer but, at any rate, I'm trying to put Windows XP back on the system.I've downloaded the Windows XP Professional with SP3 from MSDN student website.I have the ISO burned to a disc, and I boot the computer from CD drive.After the initial setup, it ask to start windows and press enter.I do so, and I says to select the drive I wish to reformat.There are four slots, all of which say "No drive found" Whenever you press ANY button, I get a BSOD.Any reason as to why it doesn't recognize any drives, or why I can't get any further into the process without it crashing?

When I reboot the laptop to install Windows XP, it goes well. But when it comes to the page where you can Select, Delete or Create a partition, the laptop's system drive is not showing. The page only shows the USB drive as my drive C, because it is my priority right? So now, I cannot reformat the laptop because the system drive of the laptop is not showing. What and where is the problem? Is it the bootable USB? or there is another way to make a downgrade? or the problem is my system drive?

It starts up saying no operating system then as we delved deeper tried a windows 7 disc and it ended up in dos and found out that it came up as x: drive I assume this is the recovery partition on the drive but tried changing to c: drive not found . The c: drive just seams to of disappeared. Is the hard drive knackered .

So my PC was recently infected with viruses, and I was able to get rid of them with Malware bytes and Microsoft Security Essentials.I;m not sure if I completely got rid of the viruses so I want to just completely wipe my hard drive and get rid of it all. When I go to reformat my Hard Disk, Windows says I cannot because it's in use.I google'd around and some guides are saying that I'd be able to reformat and boot up through the Win. 7 installation disk; the problem is that I don't have a Win 7. installation disk.

I have a system I have used for a while now and I actually reformatted a few months ago. The system has been working great with no problems but recently during a boot up I noticed an issue. Right when Windows begins its setup to take you to the login screen I noticed a bluescreen and a quick reboot. So I used F8 to boot from the last known good config, no change. I went and disabled the automatic reboot after a crash so I could read the error and it's the:
"Process1_initialization_failed" error.

However, when I tried to get into the C: to remove that file, it said "Access Denied" and locked me out. I have yet to be able to get into the system since. To make matters worse I gave up and decided to just reformat the drive and start fresh. However, when I load up my Windows Installation DVD it is noticeably slow, it takes 5-10 minutes to go from step to step. So I got to the "Install" button screen, clicked it and it says "Setup is starting..." and then...nothing. It just stays on that screen for a long time, I gave it 30 minutes last night. So I'm unable to even reformat.

So yesterday I was online and uploaded a pic to Twitpic. Everything froze up so after a bit I decided to restart. When it restarted it went right into system repair. I let that run ALL NIGHT LONG. In the morning, it asked if I wanted to do a system restore and I said yes. But it said I had no restore points. I knew that wasn't right so I ran through the memory check option and then the hard drive check and was told memory was fine but now I don't have a hard drive found or an operating system. Any clue what has happened or how to restore everything?

My PC is set up for dual booting...first OS installed is Windows XP sp3 and the second is Windows 7 Ultimate x32. Both are installed on separate hard drives. I want to reformat the drive with Windows 7 on it and do a clean install of itctions on how to do this? For some reason I can't get the PC to boot up with the DVD disc instead of the hard drives, and I don't know much about the BIOS to mess around in there.

When I start my laptop, it shows the HP logo, begins to boot and is almost instantly interrupted by a white screen that scrolls down from the top. It reboots right after the white screen.I am able at the HP logo screen able to navigate to System Restore and that is where I run into my next problem.When the System Restore window opens for confirmation it shows that "Local Disk (C) (System)" status: "Ready to restore" and the check-box next to it is checked.The next line has a empty check-box for "Local Disk (C)" with the status: "The drive cannot be found." I can also successfully boot into Safe Mode with Networking. I can access all my files. Which leads me to believe that it is a hardware problem. Possibly the motherboard or graphics card.

I'm going to be reformatting my hard drive. However this time around I realized I might have a problem.
I originally purchased my pc with windows vista, but then when windows 7 came out I purchased it and immediately installed it on my computer. Bottom line, the factory image of my drive contains windows vista and my current operating system is windows 7.
So, If i go ahead and reformat my hard drive my system will revert back to windows vista (right?). I still have the windows 7 installation cds and the product key. So, can I just reformat and then just simply reinstall windows 7 with the cds and the product key? Or is it more complicated than that?

as usual I turned off my laptop and after a while a turned on again to use my laptop but it couldn't reach operating system and showed error : " OPERATING SYSTEM NOT FOUND" !
I tried all instructions to solve the problem and finally run by windows start up CD to re-install new windows. this time I faced error: " No drivers were found. click load driver to provide a mass storage driver for installation"

I am having issues with my computer and am planning on reformatting. I have a terabite hard drive which I moved everything to and a half terrabite hard drive which has Windows 7 and all that on it. If I reformat will it remove everything from all the hard drives or just the one I choose to install Windows 7 on?

I am about to reformat my hard drive, long story as to why, but I am starting from scratch. I know how to install windows, drivers etc. But one thing I am not sure about is configuring the RAID, as I wasn't the one who did it when we installed everything. I am asunming that when I reformat the RAID will need to be reconfigured? I have RAID 5 with three hard drives, each 500 GB. I have a program called Intel Rapid Storage Technology that "manages" the hard drives,but if I am correct I have to set up RAID before installing windows. I'm been working on this problem for over a day now and now I'm stumped.I've read dozens of threads and blogs all over the internet concerning this "operating system not found" problem but none of their problems seem to be the problem that I have.My computer just got extremely laggy and froze into a BSOD (blue screen of death) before turning off and showing me the "operating system not found" message during every boot.Usually when this problem showed up, it turned out to be a hard drive failure, but when I checked my bios, it listed my hard drive as 320gb. (So I'm guessing this has nothing or little to do with my hard drive.)
Here are the things I have tried: Safe modesThe "Launch Startup Repair" (ends up with at start up background and doesn't progress any further)The "Windows Memory Diagnostic""Last Known Good configuration"I've transfered the windows 7 .iso to a bootable usb and started up the laptop it got to the Install Now window and when I press that, the window closes and it shows "setup starting" and just stays like that.The only part that seems to be working like it's supposed to is the quick start/splashtop browser option that doesn't startup anything. (It only opens a browser for internet use and no other programs).I'm guessing the next step should be to open up my laptop and see if any of the cables are loose.ut after that I don't know what else I could do.
Edit- I have just checked and now the operating system not found message doesn't show up. when I start up with regular settings, it just gets to a blue screen and restarts.

My computer fell a couple days ago, and I had to get a new hard drive. nfortunately, my mother let my uncle who is NOT a professional install a "new" hard drive, which was actually his old one and came with Linux and not Windows. It worked fine but I wanted Windows, so he did something and installed Windows 7 from a flash drive. And it was great. Until this afternoon, when I accidentally changed the BIOS order and now I'm getting an "operating system not found" message... Is there something wrong with the hard drive (again, it isn't new) or did I just completely mess something up?

I have a custom built HTPC with a Seagate SATA drive. Media Center halted, and Win7 would not reboot. When I attempt to reinstall Win7 it cannot find the drive (C) - "No drive were found. Click Load Driver to provide a mass storage driver for installation."
My research tells me SATA drives don't have drivers. I've changed BIOS SATA drivers from "Enhanced" to "Compatible" with no effect.
Don't know what to try next.

I recently bought a new Sony VAIO T series ultrabook. The windows 7 that came with it had lots of bloatware on it so I am trying to install a clean version of win7. The problem is, when it gets to the "Where do you want to install Windows" dialog box, nothing shows up. Things I've tried:1. tried to change sata controller from IDE to AHCI, but BIOS does not have such setting.2. diskpart, drive does not even show up in diskpart. **I would like to add that if I run diskpart while in windows, the disk shows up, but when I run the command in the windows set up, it does not show up, the command line begins with X and not the usual C. Also, diskpart while in windows set up does not recognize my computer name, which is set as Larry. It shows it as MINIMUT...

I dropped my acer extensa 5235 from 1.5ft it landed flat. But now when i turn it on it says "operating system not found". Ive been searching everywhere for a solution but have not one. I do not have my windows 7 install disk as it was already pre-installed but i do have the windows 7 iso on a usb-stick. But when i go to install from the usb and choose custom install it starts to "Copy Window Files" but stays at 0% then an error comes up and says "Windows Setup could not reinitialize the deployment engine. My laptop is a HP Pavilion dv6500 (dv6647cl) just crashed randomly during basic internet browsing. I turned it back on and I get the Operating System Not Found error. In the BIOS I do not see the hard drive recognized. I connected the hard drive to a different computer and it is recognized and it appears as though nothing is wrong with the drive. Is it safe to say that internally the SATA controller is dead? Will edit after running diagnostics and sector tests on the drive.

At the startup of my computer. I get a black screen with white text saying "Operation System Not Found" it is "OPERATION" and not "OPERATING". I first found this problem after a windows update. Its not an issue getting into my computer since all I have to do is hit the enter button on the keyboard and the laptop acts like nothing happened. Whats going on? Its a little annoying getting this message, and it some what scares me that something will happen to my computer. I feel like the startup is a bit slower, but nothing major.
