Operating System Not Found Error On Startup (windows 7)
Feb 1, 2012
i have sony viao laptop, when i start my pc it shows the following error " operating system not found "when i opened bios menu, it doesnt detectes the hard drive n says " no drive ".hv my hard disk crashed ?
as usual I turned off my laptop and after a while a turned on again to use my laptop but it couldn't reach operating system and showed error : " OPERATING SYSTEM NOT FOUND" !
I tried all instructions to solve the problem and finally run by windows start up CD to re-install new windows. this time I faced error: " No drivers were found. click load driver to provide a mass storage driver for installation"
I have a Sony Vaio laptop which I did not originally purchase but traded for my iPod touch. This Vaio has a Windows Vista sticker, but the man I got it from told me he installed Windows 7 Ultimate on it. He did not tell me that it was a Release Candidate version. I found that out after 2 hours of using this PC, when it suddenly restarted. After June 1 it began notifying me of the RC issue, it being expired.
So, this week I finally decided to get rid of the RC version. I purchased a new Windows 7 Ultimate package and downloaded KillDisk (Active@ Kill Disk Hard Drive Eraser. Low Level Format.) to swipe my hard drive clean. I burnt KillDisk onto a DVD and ran the program, which was successful.
Afterwards I bought a new Windows 7 Ultimate package, tried to run the DVD but it now gives me the error "Operating System Not Found".
The BIOS on this Vaio model does not have a whole lot of settings to change, so what do I do???
I'm been working on this problem for over a day now and now I'm stumped.I've read dozens of threads and blogs all over the internet concerning this "operating system not found" problem but none of their problems seem to be the problem that I have.My computer just got extremely laggy and froze into a BSOD (blue screen of death) before turning off and showing me the "operating system not found" message during every boot.Usually when this problem showed up, it turned out to be a hard drive failure, but when I checked my bios, it listed my hard drive as 320gb. (So I'm guessing this has nothing or little to do with my hard drive.)
Here are the things I have tried: Safe modesThe "Launch Startup Repair" (ends up with at start up background and doesn't progress any further)The "Windows Memory Diagnostic""Last Known Good configuration"I've transfered the windows 7 .iso to a bootable usb and started up the laptop it got to the Install Now window and when I press that, the window closes and it shows "setup starting" and just stays like that. The only part that seems to be working like it's supposed to is the quick start/splashtop browser option that doesn't startup anything. (It only opens a browser for internet use and no other programs).I'm guessing the next step should be to open up my laptop and see if any of the cables are loose.ut after that I don't know what else I could do.
Edit- I have just checked and now the operating system not found message doesn't show up. when I start up with regular settings, it just gets to a blue screen and restarts.
My computer fell a couple days ago, and I had to get a new hard drive. nfortunately, my mother let my uncle who is NOT a professional install a "new" hard drive, which was actually his old one and came with Linux and not Windows. It worked fine but I wanted Windows, so he did something and installed Windows 7 from a flash drive. And it was great. Until this afternoon, when I accidentally changed the BIOS order and now I'm getting an "operating system not found" message... Is there something wrong with the hard drive (again, it isn't new) or did I just completely mess something up?
Ran F12 to regain Operating system - long version. Says computer passes everything but there's no operating system found. Did this Twice. Tried "Operating System" CD that came w/ Studio 17 laptop. Hit option to run via CD & never got anywhere after an hour. Tried Reinstall Hardware disk that came w/ laptop. It shows Vista, but laptop came w/ Windows 7. See where it shows the system's checking things out, but never get anywhere.
I tried to restore my laptop to factory default today and i must have clicked the wrong option because it deleted my Hard Disk. now when i try to start it it says Operating system not found. Is there any way i can fix this? Oh and i have Windows 7 Starter edition, and its a Toshiba notebook laptop
This morning my computer, Sony Vaio, was working perfectly. I turned it off and after a couple of hours put it back on, to get to my surprise the following message " OPERATING SYSTEM NOT FOUND".Is it possible to recover my information still?
the boot manager was missing for my dell inspiron n4030 so i put the windows 7 repair disk in but when i start it it doesn't have any operating system listed
Basically I loaded up my Sony Vaio PCG-71811M laptop and it just has a black screen with 'operating system not found) I clicked F2 for the utility help to see what it said about the HDD. It doesn't say 'HDD not found, all it says is '0GB'. Really worried because all my university work is on there
I dropped my acer extensa 5235 from 1.5ft it landed flat. But now when i turn it on it says "operating system not found". Ive been searching everywhere for a solution but have not one. I do not have my windows 7 install disk as it was already pre-installed but i do have the windows 7 iso on a usb-stick. But when i go to install from the usb and choose custom install it starts to "Copy Window Files" but stays at 0% then an error comes up and says "Windows Setup could not reinitialize the deployment engine. To install Windows, restart the installation." ive tried to restart the installation but always comes up with same error?
My laptop is a HP Pavilion dv6500 (dv6647cl) just crashed randomly during basic internet browsing. I turned it back on and I get the Operating System Not Found error. In the BIOS I do not see the hard drive recognized. I connected the hard drive to a different computer and it is recognized and it appears as though nothing is wrong with the drive. Is it safe to say that internally the SATA controller is dead? Will edit after running diagnostics and sector tests on the drive.
I've had a problem with my ACER Laptop, and I need help fixing this Black Screen Of Death. I started up my laptop today, and BOOM! An error popped up and I have no absolute idea how to fix it. [code]
My sony vaio is about 2 years old with a Windows 7 64 operating system. I changed the hard drive to a 500GB Toshiba. When I turned the computer back on it said "Operating system not found". I was told to turn off my computer and then restart while pressing F2. The new hard drive showed up on the screen. Then I restarted the computer again while pressing F10 but it says "Operating system not found".
I have a Sony Vaio VPC-EC2TFX/WI, Have tried rebooting several times with no change. This computer was working fine last night and when I tried to turn it on this morning, I got the Operating System Not Found message
My boss' laptop needed fixing. Its a Sony Vaio (VPCEE21FX). I boot it on and after post I get the 'Operating System not found' message. So I grab my handy dandy windows 7 disk. Boot it from that and get the installation going. It was on the "Expanding Files" part. Now at the same time I was restoring an old xp machine so my eyes weren't glued to the laptop's screen. I looked over and the laptop was off! I checked the power cord it was plugged and everything. I booted it back up and I get 'BOOTMgR is missing press ctrl alt dlt to restart'. I can't access bios or boot menu. I've been restarting it while press f1 f8 f12 and Del, as those are the known keys, but nothing. What do I do?
aptop its saying operating system not found (Acer Laptop)Windows 7/Vistai checked the hard rive inside if it was find, it was kind of dusty but when i cleaned it after it doesn't still works
i was trying to recover my system by pressing F10 key (VAIO recovery system) as soon as it began i cancelled it out. now when i start my laptop it says no operating system can be found immediately after the logo of VAIO appears.... how can i get it of this problem (My DVD rom is also not working)
My son started having an issue with his custom PC after he overclocked the cpu. After he overclocked the machine it lost the OS. You'd turn on the machine and "No Operating System Found" is all that would display.I tried to reload Windows after changing the BIOS to load from the DVD first. All it would do is say "Windows is loading files", then say, "Starting Windows", then go right back to loading files. Just kept looping. So, I pulled out the hard drive and put in another hard drive from my PC to see if it would run...
I can turn on the PC using the power button but there is no display and the power button LED is not eliminated like normal. Also, I can not power down the PC with the power button. I have to switch the PSU off. I made sure all the connections to the mobo and psu were tight. The mobo led is eliminated. All fans are running. The hard drive is being accessed CD/DVD is working Reset the CMOS battery (took it out put it back in). I don't know what to do next.
Yesterday, my computer crashed. I tried to restart, but after the BIOS screen, it just goes black, and has a flashing '_' in the top left corner. So I put in the reinstallation CD to try to repair the computer. I do everything necessary to bring up the System Recovery tool, but in the box that lists the Operating System to repair, it doesn't list any. So I clicked on Load Drivers, as it instructs, to find the hard drive drivers, and I CAN SEE MY C DRIVE in the dialog box. I am able to browse it and everything (Windows, Program Files, My Documents, everything). So my computer recognizes the hard drive and everything, it just says that there is no OS installed. I can't run System Restore or anything. how to "find" the operating system? Could something have happened in the registry that I could go edit?
I have tried so many things through the command prompt, but nothing works.
It seems like every other restart I get that error on boot up. Why is it off and on?
I ran a repair disc (startup repair), I did a memory diagnostic test, and a restore from a month earlier, and still I get this error. Dont have a Win 7 disc, so don't want to do a clean install yet.
I've searched the net and this forum but can't seem to find an answer. I'm sure it's probably simple but I've never seen it before when I was using XP.Why is there an entry in Startup titled "Windows Operating System"?I'm loathe to uncheck it, I just don't understand why it would be there?
I woke up this morning to find OPERATING SYSTEM NOT FOUND with a black screen. It also made sounds like the the disk drive was kicking in.I restarted my laptop and it started and fingers crossed it's still working and i'm doing a virus check as i type.
my computer crashed last night and when I have tried to switch it on since it gives me the above message.I have tried entering setup by pressing F2 and changing the hard disk to be the primary boot device, but the same thing occurs.I have created a Windows 7 32-Bit recovery disk by downloading the iso file on my dad's pc and burning that to a dvd. I am able to load this, but when it first starts up it has a table supposed to list operating systems but it is blank and I cannor select anything. It says if my operating system isn't listed, "click load drivers and install drivers for your hard disks" but I don't know where on earth these are located and neither does google seem to.then working through the option on the menu:
-if I click start-up repair it tells me "startup repair cannot repair this computer automatically"
-if I click system restore I get an error message saying I must specify which windows installation to restore
-if I click system image recover it gives me an error message saying "windows cannot find a system image on this computer" and if I try to select one none appear.
I've had this Sony Vaio VPCEE3WFX/BJ for about a year now. It was working fine until a couple of days ago. My little sister was on it and was playing Poptropica and that was the only thing she did on there. After shutting down the computer, I didn't turn it on until the next day. After pressing the power button, I got the Vaio screen or whatever the screen is called. After that screen has loaded, Operating System Not Found appears out of nowhere. I turned the computer on and off a couple of times but I still received the "Operating System Not Found" After I tried turning it off and on, I tried turning it on again but pressing F8 so that I could get some start up options. I was able to get to the screen and select "Start Windows Normally" From that point, I can get to the login screen and my desktop. The only problem with that is that it takes around 20 minutes to get to the login screen. Once I enter my password, it takes around 10 minutes to get past the login screen. Once past the screen, I get a black screen with the cursor in the middle. If I wait around an hour or so, the desktop will finally load and I will be able to do what I please with one condition. If try and open a program or anything it takes around 10 minutes to load it up and if I try to load a page on Google Chrome, it takes around 5 minutes just for one page.I was thinking about calling Sony to see if there was any way I could send in the laptop for repair before the warranty expires which is in just a couple of weeks.
I have tried Startup Repair but it was no help because I get errors when I try and click some of the solutions. ( I can't remember what the errors say) Also, would re-installing Windows 7 solve the problem? The laptop did not come with a recovery disk or Windows 7 installation disk.Edit: I forgot to mention that I ran 2 virus scans (one from AVG and one from Malwarebytes) and the results came out clean except a file that AVG reported was unsafe due to little known users using it. I ignored it but still deleted it because it was a program one of my teachers told me to download from the home website. (the program was Autodesk Inventor 2011)
I have a Samsung #NPQ430 (laptop), When I go to boot, I get a operating system not found screen. I tried using a Windows 7 recovery disk ( i made from a Windows 7 Professional computer, I have a Windows 7 Home Premium), Would that matter?, but it did not work. I don't have a installation disk. I think i may have got a virus but I am not sure. Would it be possible to recover my files?
It starts up saying no operating system then as we delved deeper tried a windows 7 disc and it ended up in dos and found out that it came up as x: drive I assume this is the recovery partition on the drive but tried changing to c: drive not found . The c: drive just seams to of disappeared. Is the hard drive knackered .
