I have an application to control external devices via IRDA.The application only accepts IRDA connected via a serial port.I only have a USB-IRDA device.
Is there any freeware driver/software to create a virtual serial port and link it with the USB device?
I just Signed up with Charter Cable service for my ISP When i open up IE 9 and do a search, it redirects me to Charters search page. I have checked my search provider settings, and i have it set to search with Bing. So, how can i get the search function to stop redirecting to Charter? Most of the whole first page with them are "sponsored sites" which is nothing more that advertisments. I want to "search" not to be bombarded with usless links. It does not seem to be doing this with Firefox.
View 1 Replies View RelatedUsing Windows 7.Within browser (Chrome), I can do a search, and then when I click one of the links, I am redirected to a different site... Siteadvisor jumps and asks if this is what I want to do. Multiple windows would open.
What I did:
- Uninstalled Chrome
- Ran full scan with McAfee... nothing.
- Run full scan with Malewarebytes... nothing.
- Run scan with DoctorWeb... found three items... had them neutralized
After doing this, IE worked fine... search / link / no issue Downloaded Firefox... tested... search / link / no issue Downloaded Chrome... test... search / link... problem resurfaced!Right now, I have removed Chrome again and running DoctorWeb again.
I have Windows 7 installed on an SSD and I'd like to keep the default program location on another drive with more room. I know how to redirect personal folders, but how do I redirect the Program Files and Program Files (x86) folders to a different drive. These folders already have some data in them; should that date be manually moved to the other drive or are they OK where they are?Actually, the real problem I'm having is browsing my computer as Administrator. My current account is an administrator type, but it seems that that is not the same as actually being logged on as the account Administrator. I'm sure if I was right clicking on the folders I want to redirect as Administrator, the Location tab would pop up just fine.

All remote workers using XP / Vista are able to ptinr to their local printers from the terminal server. Some are USB so the registry keys have been amended to allow this. However, w enow have a windows 7 remote client which cannot print to it's local printer. The registry key used previously does not exist in Windows 7!

After some time of use, (sometimes this starts right away, sometimes it doesn't) when I am using iexplorer, whatever tab I am on, it starts clicking back wards through the previously visited pages until it comes to rest at my home page. If I click to one of the other open tabs, it does the same.I also have the windows sound "device disconnect" sounding every 30 seconds or so. I stared out resolving this problem in the virus forum but after working through that, it has been determined it is not an infection.

View 26 Replies View RelatedMy 64 bit laptop running windows 7 locks-up within seconds or minutes of launching Windows. After a hard restart, the same thing happens again and again. It successfully launches in Safe Mode. I read that it might be something in the registry or with a startup program. However, it is now seems to be redirecting. In SafeMode, Explorer now goes to search.conduit and firefox I think went to something "unfriend" and now up in the search box says WhiteSmoke B Customized Web Search.

However when I have other windows focused it does not (this was expected). I constantly use the other windows so it can be a pain to select the window every time instead of just picking up the 360 controller and still control the program.

View 2 Replies View Relatedok well i spent about 3 hrs and i know its not my router and its the os and i did a fresh install too im on 7600 rtm, now i got windows firewall and defender disabled, i got nod32 antivirus not with a firewall just the anti, now i got utorrent, so i use utorrents port checker, the port works for it but if i add a port to my portforwarding on my router it dont work, according to this port scanner, now if i enter it and use it as my port in utorrent it works! but anything else doesnt i dont get it i got windows firewall disabled and all that i literally think theres a hidden firewall or a virus but i know there isnt a virus i also did a scan incase so any ideas?

im getting the middle part of my screen fine - but it is cropped so i cant see the tool bar (its too low) and the desktop icons are only veiwable if i move them closer in screen! I have some crazy problem with port 80 . Everything was fine since last 5-6 days. When i try to connect to some pages i get this note on picture.

I have a quick question about the USB ports on my computer. I have a screenshot hosted here on Flikr: USB | Flickr - Photo Sharing! Of the 5 USB's that are listed, one is a USB2. Is the USB2 Enhanced Host Controller a USB2.0 port? I am looking because I am going to buy an audio interface and if I have a 2.0 in there then I will get something a little better 'cos I want as little latency as possible when recording vocals.
There is one other thing also, if it turns out that there is a 2.0 port, is there a way to physically differentiate which port is the 2.0? I have 3 USB's on the back and 2 on the front of my tower. At the moment I don't know which is which and do not know what to physically look for when I look in or out of the case.

I use my computer aboard a 47' Sailboat primarily for navigation and communications. As such, I run multiple external devices. To name a few:
WiFi Cards (2)
GPS
Pactor Modem
Iridium Satellite Phone
Verizon Aircard
Telcel Aircard
You get the picture. I was unable to accomplish a very simple task using VISTA, to wit, being online with my Verizon Aircard and using one of the WiFi cards to access my wireless printer.
I finally downgraded to Windows XP and this is never a problem anymore. A Verizon tech once gave me an explanation of why this couldn't be done in VISTA, but unfortunately the explanation went over my head.
Does anyone know if this problem has been fixed in Windows 7, or does that OS have similar problems as VISTA handling multiple communications devices operating simultaneously on different USB ports?
I have spent the last two hours trying to open a port for a remote control application.
I have tomato 1.27 running on an asus wl500gP router.

The problem is this, i forwarded the port correctly in tomato yet the port is still closed. I have tried the following:
Enabling DMZ
Disabling windows firewall by either the control panel or through services.msc
Enabled UPNP in the application, it opens the port according to tomato yet external port testers still say its closed
reset the router and pc numerous times
hard reset the router
Hooking PC directly into cable modem
I believe that this is strictly a windows 7 issue now as the router is out of the equation. The only security software I have is Avira free edition, windows defender, and (disabled) windows firewall.
Can anyone give me help as to why I cannot open a port? It would be greatly appreciated as I am leaving for a trip in 36 hours and would like to be able to remotely control this application.
I tried to change the default remote desktop port from 3389 to some other 4 digit number.
I did this via regedit
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE SYSTEM CurrentControlSet Control Terminal Server WinStations RDP-Tcp
I setup that port correctly as a port forwarder in my router. The original 3389 was working fine. However, the new 4 digit one is not strange enough (port forwarder is 'ok' according to one of those port forwarder checking sites). I tried to RDP from one network to my IP (confirmed correct) like this:
myipaddress:1234
1234 = being the actual port number I set up.
Of course, I do already have RDP enabled on both Windows 7 laptops.
What could be the cause of the invalid connection? It was working fine on 3389 by for extra security measures, I changed it to something else. I did restart the laptop as well.
if i plug my mic into my sound port its fine but cant change volume without changing volume on the device or on the computers master volume... if i check listen to device (so i get the volume control) i get an echo... is there any way to get rid of the origional sound? not the one that i can control
View 1 Replies View RelatedIt's been a while since I've gotten my sound "working," but my current problem is that only one of my audio jacks work, one on the back. I know it's not the hardware because it used to work on vista. It hasn't been that much of a pain because i didn't have to change often between audio output devices, so i just dealt with it- getting back behind the computer and switching out cords. Now i'm doing it a little more frequently, so I can still just deal with it, but if anyone here does know something that may help, it would be very nice of you to let me know.
