View 0 RepliesI am going nuts with this problem and maybe you guys are the only ones who can help. Even Answers.Microsoft.com hasn't been able to give me a solution that works. Here's the problem:very time I start my computer and I click on an icon (on the desktop or in the Start menu), the icon disappears and this error message shows up about a dozen times:"Could not find this item. This is no longer in C:...Verify this item's location."I've done all of the following and none of them have worked: System Restore before certain Microsoft updates I get the same problem in Safe Mode The problem gets worse when I create another user account and use that account instead of the Administrator account I've replaced Avira antivirus with Microsoft Security Essentials and ran a full scan I've tried a Clean Reboot Full scans using Avira, Malwarebytes, Spybot Search & Destroy ClamWin, and various Microsoft downloadable fixes Windows Command Processor (CMD) > sfc /scannow Adding, changing, and subtracting registry entries Yelling and swearing at it... I have Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit on an HP G60 Notebook with 3GB RAM with Pentium Dual Core T4300 @ 2.10GHzThe strange thing is about ten minutes after getting these icons disappearing and error messages, the system seems to return to normal. This morning I started the computer, let it run for 20 minutes without touching anything. Then I clicked on an icon and get the same problem: it gets sent to the Recycle Bin with the error messages.

View 0 Replies View RelatedI've been playing around with my icons on my desktop, getting some off devientart. Recently some of the icons i've changed (a few shortcuts and .exe's) now show up as white squares or a smaller version of the icon with a white outline around them. Yet others such as one i used for CCleaner and Minecraft remain how i have set them.I've rebuilt the Icon cache.db a few times, done multiple restarts, and have "tried" to extend the Icon cache in the registry (although my new string value doesn't seem to save into the registry) but neither have fixed the problem.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI tried out a custom theme yesterday and decided that it was too intrusive to my system overall. I had created a restore point to guard against this, but when I restored, I discovered there are still traces of the custom icon pack I installed using 7tsp on my desktop shortcuts as well as windows explorer. I can't get rid of them.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm a syfy writer and in Word 7 I've created custom macros, assigned icons to these macros and arranged them on the quick access tool bar. Every time I get a new PC it makes me crazy. Although I can transfer the macros I don't know how to transfer the icons I've assigned or how I've arranged them on the quick access tool bar.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI don't think this is exactly related to customization, but rather maybe the way Windows 7 handles file paths. I have an external HD with many folders with custom icons. On my PC the drive letter which is always assigned is G. Now, when I use it on a friend's PC, which assigns drive letter E, all my custom folder icons disappear. Note that all the relevant .ico files are where they're supposed to be (inside the folders whose icons they should customize). I'm assuming Windows always tries to locate the icons on a G: drive, which only exists on my PC but not on my friend's (where it's E). How can I change that?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have put custom folder icons (pictures basically), for some of my folders. I can see the custom folder icons, But when other computers on my network access the folders (they are shared), they can't see the custom icons. All the see are the default folder icons.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm currently experiencing a strange problem with my laptop. Whenever I certain gaming program run in the background (not in focus) the applications seem to shift back and forth from from "Running" and "Not Responding" almost like it constantly refreshes itself (every 3 or so seconds). However, if I keep one of those programs in focus, the problem doesn't occur as often. The task bar always seems to be moving as a result of this (almost doing a dance if I open enough programs that have this problem).I've tried updating drivers, installed all service packs, scanned computer with Malware Bytes, Norton.I'm using Windows 7, 64 bit 6.1 (7061), ATI Mobile Radeon HD 5650
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've never had this issue up until today. I manually shutdown my laptop at the log-in screen and from there all my issues began. When I started up my system the "Windows Reboot Manager" popped up which had never popped up before so I just chose Windows 7 and it began up just fine. Well once I got to the log-in page I typed in my password. It was a no go and after using the keypad it worked just fine. Well when I opened up Microsoft Word 2007 to see what the issue was I discovered that by pressing specific number keys it would include a letter.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've recently started having an issue whereby my desktop icons (and by extension the icons in the start bar) keep refreshing. It's not a constant thing - usually several minutes pass between refreshes - and I'm not entirely sure what's triggering it or why it keeps on happening, still less how to go about fixing it. A scheduled system scan for viruses last night came up negative, so did a quick scan I ran this evening. On the advice of a user in another thread about the same issue, I've also downloaded Malwarebytes and ran a full scan using that.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've a problem with my 4 months old i7 laptop running Windows 7 Pro!From time to time it seems that explorer stops to refresh...I explain! If I create a folder in desktop, or paste a file or folder to the desktop I only can see it if I hir refresh!!! For example if the trash bin is "full" and I "empty" it....ihe icon will be the "full" one! Only after I hit refresh the new state (empty in this case) will be seen!
View 3 Replies View RelatedNow, everytime I try to login in the control panel of a game I play -> link, the page just refreshes and I won't be logged in. This only seems to happen for Google Chrome, I tried it on Firefox and I could get in just fine.
This is also a newly-built and freshly installed computer, not even a week's age yet. This is also the first time I'll be on Windows 7, my old PC was Win XP, and I could login the site using Chrome just fine, so I'm inclined to say it's the OS, but my friend has Win7 too and he could get in just fine.

View 1 Replies View Relatedi'm having huge issues with window refreshing, and it's not limited to browsers.what happens is the active window just begins automatically refreshing rapidly, as if you are holding down the f5 key. it makes the system unresponsive, and if you are in the middle of a document or something it basically wipes it out if using the browser at the timehere is an example of it happening even with the task managerInternet - win7 sp1 active window refresh bug
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a win application that performs some long calculation, and since it's single threaded it doesn't refresh the window in the process. I was wondering why show desktop won't work because of that? I mean I know the answer, show desktop sends a minimize commands to all the windows, and this app won't respond.

View 5 Replies View RelatedIn this tutorial, we'll take a look at the Recycle Bin folder. The Recycle Bin is where files and folders are sent when you remove them. It acts like a safety net against deleting data by accident. In the video we'll show you how to recover files from the Recycle Bin, empty the bin and also change its size. You will also see a few exceptions where files are not sent to the Recycle Bin and are deleted immediately instead.

View 0 Replies View RelatedI have a Windows 7 running system and recently I am having some annoying problems with it. First of all, it takes extremely long time to start-up and shut down. After it finally loads, when I try to access one of my drives Windows Explorer freezes. It also can't identify some of the file types, and I can't run some of the applications like Disk Cleanup. I even can't open Recycle Bin. All in all it's completely messed up. I've checked it for viruses with ESET and it couldn't find any.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am looking for a stand-alone "Recycle Bin" that I can put on USB drives. Most files deleted from a USB do not go to the regular Windows 7 Recycle Bin , and I need as a safeguard. I have undelete software that I can use on the USB if I need to recover a recently deleted file , but a "Recycle Bin" would be much easier. I have tried a program called ibin but it seemed to have a lot of bugs and did not do what it was supposed to , so gave up.
