View 0 Replieswhen installing Windows 7 I unintentionally enlarged the size of the icons on my desktop. However, I am using the standard (100%) setting for the size of the computer screen. The icons and the side board are more than double as large as they were by Vista and XP.
View 1 Replies View RelatedYesterday, I upgraded my Vostro 1500 laptp from WinXP to Windows 7 without any problem except for icon size. Correct grahpic driver (GEForce 8400M GS) for Windows 7 was also updated. I like the smaller icons size on desktop and taskbar in WinXP with native screen resolution of 1280 x 800. After converting to Windows 7, the screen size was also restored to 1280 x 800 too. But the icons size on both desktop and taskbar is rather bigger in Windows 7. (Text size is just fine). I could not resize the same icon size as in Win XP. I tried to change but 9 point Segoe UI at 96pixels per inch is default in Windows 7. The scale to the percentage of normal size is 100% or above, not less than 100%.
View 6 Replies View RelatedCan I actually specify a custom size for these taskbar icons other than small or large as here? I have so many of them and my taskbar have already two rows and sometimes when I open programs or whatever else that is NOT included as a shortcut button on the taskbar, it takes extra space at which point the taskbar becomes scrollable with 3 rows. Not a good thing. I hate it with a passion. Yes I could make my task bar with 3 rows, but no, I don't like to waste my precious screen space. So basically I'd like to to make these icons a little smaller, kind of like the QuickLaunch icons.
View 4 Replies View RelatedAfter some searching I located where to create a custom Paper size in the printer setup. However, when I proceed to scan (via the document feeder, not the flatbed), I still cannot get the newly defined custom Paper Size to appear in the pre-defined list of page-sizes that are available - and that is regardless of which program I'm using - the 'aquire image' from Microsoft Photo Premium, the import via Microsoft Live, or the 'start scanning' in the printer setup.

View 0 Replies View RelatedI've been playing around with my icons on my desktop, getting some off devientart. Recently some of the icons i've changed (a few shortcuts and .exe's) now show up as white squares or a smaller version of the icon with a white outline around them. Yet others such as one i used for CCleaner and Minecraft remain how i have set them.I've rebuilt the Icon cache.db a few times, done multiple restarts, and have "tried" to extend the Icon cache in the registry (although my new string value doesn't seem to save into the registry) but neither have fixed the problem.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI tried out a custom theme yesterday and decided that it was too intrusive to my system overall. I had created a restore point to guard against this, but when I restored, I discovered there are still traces of the custom icon pack I installed using 7tsp on my desktop shortcuts as well as windows explorer. I can't get rid of them.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm a syfy writer and in Word 7 I've created custom macros, assigned icons to these macros and arranged them on the quick access tool bar. Every time I get a new PC it makes me crazy. Although I can transfer the macros I don't know how to transfer the icons I've assigned or how I've arranged them on the quick access tool bar.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI don't think this is exactly related to customization, but rather maybe the way Windows 7 handles file paths. I have an external HD with many folders with custom icons. On my PC the drive letter which is always assigned is G. Now, when I use it on a friend's PC, which assigns drive letter E, all my custom folder icons disappear. Note that all the relevant .ico files are where they're supposed to be (inside the folders whose icons they should customize). I'm assuming Windows always tries to locate the icons on a G: drive, which only exists on my PC but not on my friend's (where it's E). How can I change that?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have put custom folder icons (pictures basically), for some of my folders. I can see the custom folder icons, But when other computers on my network access the folders (they are shared), they can't see the custom icons. All the see are the default folder icons.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI bought a new Gateway laptop. Installed Windows 7 home premium 32-bit that came with it. Once in a while, after I close the lid, my desktop icons will change size, sometimes smaller, sometimes bigger. It's really annoying because when it's really big, the icons move around. I'll have to change them back to the size I want and move them back to the place they were. I've updated everything i.e. windows update, hardware drivers etc. I've disabled desktop gadgets but it still does it.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am currently building a custom desktop (Specifications in My System Specs) and I've run into a few problems along the way:
- When I first put it all together and powered it up, the edge of the motherboard literally caught on fire for a second and I immeadiately turned the power off.
- I returned the motherboard and the psu and got both brand new again.
- I just tried to reinstall the motherboard and psu and now I get no power at all to the pc.
- I checked all connectors to make sure they were plugged in tightly and correctly. Everything looked fine. The 12V atx power connector and 24-pin connector were both plugged in correctly.
- I checked the psu with a paper clip and checked the voltage of each pin that should have been outputting voltage. Everything was fine there. And the psu powered up and the fans turned as soon as I pressed the switch.
- Checked for bad heads on the motherboard. None.
- I also went through all of these steps already: PERFORM THESE STEPS before posting about POST/boot/no video problems! - New-System-Build - Homebuilt-Systems
I'm looking for a way to either resize or remove the icons from the taskbar, here is a screenshot just to be clear: (red box around them)The reason I want to resize or remove them is because I've got my taskbar set very small (as you can see in the picture) and the icons are too big to fit properly on the taskbar.I've tried fooling around in the WindowMetrics registry key, but I couldn't find anything useful.

View 3 Replies View RelatedSome of the icons normally showing what a program type is are missing now. I HAVE all the DESKTOP icons and those in the system tray. But in Windows Explorer lists or in Word Perfect and Word lists of file names, many of the small icons that normally appear next to a program's name, or showing what type of document or file it is, are now missing. Not all, just some. I have mostly open square boxes. It doesn't matter whether I'm looking at a list of files I've created, or looking at the items in various system folders: most are just empty open squares instead of the individual icons. I have Windows 7 64-bit OS , both Mozilla 17 and IE9 browsers.

View 3 Replies View RelatedOkay, so a friend of my dad told him that he used to see the folder icons and labels in the left pane of Outlook 2007 in a bigger font/size before switching to a new computer with Windows 7. Obviously, we all know that upgrading Windows won't change font sizes that are coded into independent programs, so I'm thinking that maybe his old computer was running at a lower resolution. Anywho, my dad's friend asked my dad to ask me this question, and since I don't use Office 2007 anymore, I need to ask you: is there a way to change the size of the folder icons and labels in the left pane of Outlook 2007, without changing the size of anything else?

When I "view" the desktop, or don't have anything on top of it, I want the icons back.
