when installing Windows 7 I unintentionally enlarged the size of the icons on my desktop. However, I am using the standard (100%) setting for the size of the computer screen. The icons and the side board are more than double as large as they were by Vista and XP.
I have bought a dell studio with 500 GB HD. Total HD space was dedicated to C:.I have resized it to two 50 GBs as A: B: , 150 GB as free and 250 GB for C:I like to shrink C: further, but it shows the size of the available shrink space as zero.
I just built a new PC with a 120GB SSD and installed Windows 7 Ultimate. The Windows folder size on this machine is about 22.5GB, which seems kind of large to me. I have Windows 7 Pro on a laptop and the Windows folder size is around 12GB. Is there some things I can safely remove from the Ultimate install to free up some room. I'm already using about 2/3 of my new SSD and I need to load a few more applications.
My Windows folder is currently 16.8GB. This wouldn't normally bother me, but I do have an 80GB SSD.
Of course, I wouldn't ever edit anything in this folder because I don't want to screw anything up...but is there anything I can do? I just have a feeling that the folder is full of old files or backups that I no longer need.
Yesterday, I upgraded my Vostro 1500 laptp from WinXP to Windows 7 without any problem except for icon size. Correct grahpic driver (GEForce 8400M GS) for Windows 7 was also updated. I like the smaller icons size on desktop and taskbar in WinXP with native screen resolution of 1280 x 800. After converting to Windows 7, the screen size was also restored to 1280 x 800 too. But the icons size on both desktop and taskbar is rather bigger in Windows 7. (Text size is just fine). I could not resize the same icon size as in Win XP. I tried to change but 9 point Segoe UI at 96pixels per inch is default in Windows 7. The scale to the percentage of normal size is 100% or above, not less than 100%.
I need to reduce the actual file size of a lot of pictures that I have, I want to do them all in one go and I don't think paint is capable of doing this. A simple bat/batch file command would be ok?
I had completed a beautiful 82-slide PowerPoint presentation, but the wav file I embedded was HUGE (about 200 MB) and not to my choosing. I just had to have the music a certain length to span across 82 slides. Is there ANY WAY to reduce the size of this music wav file (so that it conforms to the 50 MB max file size for PowerPoint). I would rather embed this music file than to have a link.
I bought a new Gateway laptop. Installed Windows 7 home premium 32-bit that came with it. Once in a while, after I close the lid, my desktop icons will change size, sometimes smaller, sometimes bigger. It's really annoying because when it's really big, the icons move around. I'll have to change them back to the size I want and move them back to the place they were. I've updated everything i.e. windows update, hardware drivers etc. I've disabled desktop gadgets but it still does it.
all my icons on desktop and computer have turned to notepad icons... and they open with some text on notepad... looking for a solution to go back to normal settings...
I'm looking for a way to either resize or remove the icons from the taskbar, here is a screenshot just to be clear: (red box around them)The reason I want to resize or remove them is because I've got my taskbar set very small (as you can see in the picture) and the icons are too big to fit properly on the taskbar.I've tried fooling around in the WindowMetrics registry key, but I couldn't find anything useful.
I've got multiple users and the icons on the welcome screen are small. I would like to increase their size, but I have not been able to find a way to do it.
My desktop icons change the size from small to medium after any numbers of restarts. They were small before and I would like them to stay that size. how to lock the size or why they change the size all the time.
On my old Win 7 computer the toolbar icons were pretty easy to see. Now, I'm just setting up my new computer and I've found the toolbar icons are really, really tiny. Actually, all the toolbars and controls have shrunk! how to increase the sizes of the icons?
Some of the icons normally showing what a program type is are missing now. I HAVE all the DESKTOP icons and those in the system tray. But in Windows Explorer lists or in Word Perfect and Word lists of file names, many of the small icons that normally appear next to a program's name, or showing what type of document or file it is, are now missing. Not all, just some. I have mostly open square boxes. It doesn't matter whether I'm looking at a list of files I've created, or looking at the items in various system folders: most are just empty open squares instead of the individual icons. I have Windows 7 64-bit OS , both Mozilla 17 and IE9 browsers.
Just did a clean install. I like all my folders size set to Medium. opened C:, made the folders medium icons, folder & search options, view, folder views, "apply to all".There are still some folders (music, movies, etc.) that I have to change the size.
Okay, so a friend of my dad told him that he used to see the folder icons and labels in the left pane of Outlook 2007 in a bigger font/size before switching to a new computer with Windows 7. Obviously, we all know that upgrading Windows won't change font sizes that are coded into independent programs, so I'm thinking that maybe his old computer was running at a lower resolution. Anywho, my dad's friend asked my dad to ask me this question, and since I don't use Office 2007 anymore, I need to ask you: is there a way to change the size of the folder icons and labels in the left pane of Outlook 2007, without changing the size of anything else?
I've been looking around for something that can hide my desktop icons (or basically anything except my background & bottom navigation bar) if I'm not viewing the desktop. In other words, when I have a (not full screen) window open, I want to be able to see my desktop background but not the icons on it. When I "view" the desktop, or don't have anything on top of it, I want the icons back.
Why all desktop icons appear in the Desktop folder but not on the desktop itself?I set my desktop to show the Recicle Bin icon only, but if I open the Desktop folder in Explorer they are all there: Computer, Control Panel, Libraries, Network, User's Files, and Recycle Bin.
I've searched for a while now but can't seem to find a way to increase the size of the icons on the desktop toolbar. Maybe it's something that can't be done but it'd be good because they look silly that small when you have large icons set on the taskbar
I have connected my laptop to a 40" LCD TV using HDMI cable and everything works fine. Since the desktop icons/fonts on the TV shows default (small) size from the laptop, in order for me to see it from the distance I have to change the desktop icons/fonts to a larger size. Here is my question; Is there a way to set up a different desktop icon/fonts size to match the TV and the laptop? (perhaps different profile settings???) Meaning, when I disconnect the HDMI cable from the TV, I want the size of the icons/fonts go back to default/small size icons and vice versa
