I've recently just got a BSOD after several freezes and reboots(mostly on startup) and hoped that someone could figure out the problem. I've done what someone suggested and cleared out some software but it seems that the problem still persists. I just requested a new motherboard from the manufacturer

Tried chkdsk /f /r and still nothing. . .
Tried start up repair like 30+ times and it didn't fix it and said no root cause.
Been having some crashes.At first they occurred on start up. Claiming the computer wasn't properly shut down. Now today, the other crashes started, with the first happening out of nowhere, the second happening upon starting a video game. I've been without crashes for a while now, only having used my browser(Opera) and copying some files to an external hard drive. As well as the SF tool.I only have 2 dump files available. SF tool file should be in attachments, unless I made a mistake somewhere
View 6 Replies View Relatedi have random freezes sometimes they are glitchy and rarely bsod all on bootup or up to about half hour in (which also turns of the mouse). also Internet doesn't autoplay playlists and all sugestions next to the video are black. this started a few weeks to a month ago, first it seemed just a minor annoyance but it started to become more often the last few days. i've tried some checks but without success.
also i remember the week before those crashes that twice the screen driver crashed for a second or 2 and then a message popped up about how a monitor driver crash was adjusted, always when i played a certain game that is still in beta so i taught it was the game.
After about each second/third reboot one of my 6 hard drives become read only. It usually happen to a random drive (though, so far drive where W7 is installed never had that disease, yet) . I can't change any files on that drive and even right click option "New" is missing too (meaning I can't create new folders, files, etc.) The drive stays read only until I run check disk with "automatic fix file system errors" enabled. (UPDATE: it worked only once, after that I had to clear up readonly attribute with diskpart shell command)I don't recall ever seeing W7 do scan disk at startup, but I've seen XP doing that, but XP does it usually to one HDD,because of one faulty program I'm using on it. So, I'm not sure if W7 even has that scan at boot feature at all...If for some reason it decided mark a hdd as "dirty", then why not scan it at boot as XP does?

i cannot recall the first time it started but it keeps happening here and then, everyday, with full load or in idle state and happens most of the time on windows, happened just once when i was on my linux install with the latest kernel from chakra repos, which i cannot say for sure the version.i have that feeling that it is vga related because most of the reboots happens when i am watching videos in flash (like Internet); even if the video is paused and i am working on something else.
I have dozend of idendical PCs - same mainboard, vga, HDD, LAN, RAM .. all is the same
instead of installing each PC manuell I setup one PC and use Acronis or Ghost to DNA copy the hard disk sector by sector
for xp64 all is working like a charm - after clone I set IP and PC name and that it
for Windows 7 prof. I do the same but my PC randomly reboot within 3min to 40min

-"disable reboot on system failur" do not affect
-disabled all onboard hardware bios and disabled non importent devices
-lastest drivers (or factory drivers)
-disable all "energy save" options
-installed all Windows 7 updates and fixes
-Windows 7 boot without problems
-common up to date hardware
only "save mode" is stabil and not reboot (within 12 hour tested)
I install Windows 7 -> plug disk to other PC (new hardware found message about HDD) -> pc permanent reboot randomly within 3 min -> disk back to source PC -> all fine
I have no clue what to do.
I really have no clue why this is happening. Haven't really changed any hardware recently (except for a new mouse). Does not happen often, happened about 3 times a couple of weeks ago and I thought it was gone. Just today it happened two times in a row. Not load related since it happens while browsing or not really doing anything. Attached sysdata and two minidumps (just in case) from these last two crashes.

All parts are new except: SSD, HDD, and PSU.
PC would reboot itself randomly and the event viewer says kernel-power event 41 task 63. My biggest hunch is the PSU because there was one time just after I built the PC, it would not turn on when power button was pressed. MOBO status light was lit. Tried shorting out the actual power pins on the MOBO but still did not turn it on. It would also sometimes turn on then off then on again by itself.
Also whenever I'm in CMOS setup, the various voltages seem to be unstable, it would go up and down by +/- .002 or something like that.
Because of those two points plus the PSU is already used and old (was prev used in a server which ran 24/7) I reckon it's the PSU. But before I go buying a new PSU, I thought I'd get your opinions.

the issue i'm having is that sometimes, during a Internet video, an online streamed video, photo-editing or even browsing pictures in my pictures, everything suddenly freezes, i can't move the mouse, keyboard, the screen remains frozen on whatever it was on at that time, and even after waiting it doesn't come back to life and i have to reboot.. on the rare occasion it comes back to life, it does so with a 'beep' i've tried re-formatting completely, to no avail. i've ran a disk check, an sfc in dos, several memtests, defragging and i've purchased a new psu, updated my bios, chipset, and all other drivers but i just can't get it to stop.. i am at a complete loss. all of these tests provided positive results, no errors. i've monitored my temps and my gpu idle at 34 with a high end of 62 when fully gaming, and my cpu idles at 37 and never goes past 60 when fully gaming, does anyone have any idea at all? the only ones i have remaining are that the hard drive is on the way out, but it doesn't make sense because the disk check reports zero errors.
My HP Presario CQ62 acts strangely since last night. After playing videos and audios for a while, suddenly there is no audio when playing videos or audio clips and the system freezes and I turned it off. I just updated iTunes to the latest version and was syncing with the iPod. I also updated Avast free anti-virus to the latest version about 2 days ago. That was last night. This morning, I also experienced the same thing. I was also syncing using iTunes. I was using Chrome and after I closed it it would not start again. Then the system reboot itself. Recently I also use msconfig to uncheck HPMSGSVC.exe (and a few other options) because it was taking so much time to boot up.
What is causing this suddenly no audio problem, among others, I described. Windows froze again after I typed the last sentence. I shutdown and restart windows. This happens after 1-3 hours of use since last night.
It freezes everytime i put it into sleep mode, and also when i reboot it. In sleep mode, the monitor turns off, but the computer continues to run (fans and lights are still on). I at first thought it was a PSU issue, but then it started to hang during games and it also freezes while booting the computer. The first time it froze mid-bios, then it froze a couple of times after the bios (when loading an OS), and it is now frozen on the windows boot screen (The logo and "Starting Windows").

it had a clean install of windows 7 proffesonal.i started to personalise it.the next day 20 min in to the sesion it froze.mouse is stil movebl and the programs can be maximised and minimised but nothing els.my musik was stil running with no delay or errors. it stayed like that for about a min befor it tryed a reboot. when it rebooted it cudnt find the system disk. i have to manualy power of and on for it to work agein. and afther that it just ceep doing it. it happens with no waring and can even happen when im not there. it happens all fro 5 min to one houer.

I came back in because it sounded like it was still on, and it had rebooted itself and tried to begin a repair automatically.Secondly, I let it continue this, only to come in at 11pm the following day (it was 3AM when I got off) and it was still repairing.Then, I cancelled it (which it told me I couldn't do, so I rebooted) and went back in and logged in. I started Avast to check for viruses and both scans (quick and full) flashed on and off quickly without scanning, so I figured there must be a virus preventing it from scanning. I scheduled a boot-time scan and rebooted.When it logged back into Windows, it did not boot-time scan, but instead just moved on and logged in. I checked Avast and it said I was unprotected. I tried to go get Malware Bytes, and it crashed and then BSOD.I tried to boot up in safe mode and the safe mode startup froze at classpnp.sys, as did safe mode with netowrking (I was going to try a remote access from my laptop to fix it.)When I try to boot up normally, it freezes on the Windows logo.When I try to boot from 'last known good config.' it freezes or goes to a black screen.On all accounts it BSODs after a short time.The few times I've gotten it to boot up and log in, everything loads up, then it BSODs again or freezes before I can get Maware Bytes up and BSODs. As far as where I could have gotten a virus (which I suspect this is caused by) is that recently I downloaded and installed the "Listening Singing Teacher" (which will not allow me to uninstall because it says that something was not installed properly.)As I was working on this post, I got it to boot all the way up and log in. View 7 Replies View RelatedMy wife's PC refused to reboot about a week ago and after many attempts we eventually gave up trying to recover it and reinstalled from scratch. The history of that is over here. WIN7 won't boot. What should I do before trying a clean install? The PC was rebuilt with Windows 7 64 OEM and because my system disk is only 80GB I followed the directions from this post to locate the user and user apps data folders on the other disk. User Profiles - Create and Move During Windows 7 Installation, Windows update has now installed over 150 updates including SP1 and rebooted successfully many times along the way. However this morning at powerup the PC crashed back to black and rebooted twice before successfully starting up. It has now run quite happily all day. What should I do to monitor what is happening and capture as much info as possible so that if this happens again I capture what is going wrong?
View 3 Replies View RelatedOk, so I am going to try to explain this as thorougly as possible while trying not to sound like an idiot in the process. I am by no means computer savvy so anyone that has any advice will more than likely need to talk to me like a 5th grader. I am ok with that. Since installing a Windows Update about a month ago, my screen will randomly lock up. At times it will clear itself after a couple of seconds and state something to the effect that "display driver amd has stopped working and recovered." Other times it will stay frozen for about 10 minutes and then will start functioning properly again. More often than not though, it will stay frozen indefinitely and require a hard reboot. This happens during mundane activities. No extreme gaming going on. Generally it is while just browsing the net. It tends to happen more often to my wife who uses it during the day to work through a VPN. I don't believe there is any correlation though. I have read multiple forums on the web and have tried several things, from cleaning the registry to uninstalling the driver software and reinstalling it in safe mode. The latter seemed to work last night but today my wife started having the same issue again.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI've just downloaded and installed Windows 7 7068 (32-bit) on my main PC and I've been having a pretty major issue. I start up and after a few minutes the computer will just freeze. I can leave it at the desktop for 10 minutes or play a game for 5 minutes, whatever I do, after a random period of time it'll just stop.
The download/cd is fine as I've got it on my laptop running fine...
There are no viruses as I've checked everything with different computers and scanners...
I've downloaded as many drivers as I can find that are for Windows 7, the ones that weren't I got Windows Vista drivers...
Oh, to elaborate, I've searched and nothing here helps, I can install fresh with all defaults and it'll freeze... I can install fresh with new drivers, it'll freeze... I can install fresh and load up games and applications, it'll freeze. In addition, safe mode freezes! And all other operating systems work, I haven't had any problems with previous builds of Windows 7 and Vista/XP still works fine, there's just something about 7068...

I've been using a Java Applet on my notebook, but the other night I was at home without it. So I decided to run it on my desktop instead. When I tried to run the installer for the Applet, my system slowed to a massive crawl. The problem seemed to big to be installer-specific, so I loaded up my E-banking, which uses Java. This didn't just slow my system to a crawl, it down-right froze it, requiring a hard reboot. In short, using Java will freeze or slow down my system massively. I've tried the following myself:
1) Installing latest drivers for my Radeon 4870 video card
2) Uninstall Java, re-install Java
3) Disable Windows Firewall
None of this has worked. I've tried in both Firefox and Chrome, same results, though Firefox seems more prone to the freezing problem.
For the last couple of weeks (I was just given the laptop) my friends Dell Inspiron has been Blue Screen of Death'ing on start then rebooting (loop on this) - I was able to see the BSOD when I disabled the "reboot on error" and all I get is the following: Blue Screen STOP: 0x0000007B.I cannot get into Safe Mode (same error) to get any dumps (at least I wouldn't know how)I tried Startup Recovery, Last known configuration, Restor points (many of them), Chkdsk, sfc, and bootsec but nothing seems to resolve the problem... The next step is a re-install from the Dell Recovery drive (I hope because I don't have the origial Windows 7 Dell Install CD),
View 4 Replies View RelatedI recently (about 4-5 months ago, so not very recently) upraded my system to Windows 7 64bit from Vista. Ever since then my computer has had issues where it locks up completely (unable to move the mouse, whatever sound was playing at the time loops) and a hard reboot is required in order to bring it back to order.
It usually wasn't a huge problem before, but for some reason it willl now proceed to lock-up within about 30-40 seconds of booting up the computer, after the desktop loads. I tried disconnecting my second hard-drive (I had bought a new one to install Windows 7 on, and kept the old one plugged in) but that didn't make a difference.
It seems to boot fine in safemode, but I have no idea what the problem could be.

I'm searching the web, listening to music, or playing some games on my computer, at some point when I click on my desktop it will give me the waiting mouse cursor. Then I cannot click into the start button on the bottom left and the only way to restart the computer is to force shut it down.
My set up is a windows 7 64 bit computer with mbam and bitdefender protection. I have on my desktop a gpu meter and the weather from windows gadget if that makes a difference. My specs are: ATI Radeon 6500, 720 psu, 3.2ghz six core computer, 12 gb ram.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm using Windows 7 SP1 on a quite capable machine. I'm getting random freezes, and what I mean by that is programs just freeze and wont respond. Games , Opera and Skype freeze for sure but the task manager manage to stay awake for long enough for me to do a basic overview of the problem. CPU usage of all programs drop to 0 but the memory usage slightly increased. The Network usage dropped to 0 while some of the cores of the CPU were being used a little. That is all I know. The freezes take about 30 seconds to 1 minute and appear at random moments and Screw me up really good.

I have Windows 8 installed on an external drive connected to my computer via eSATA and it works just fine; no freezes have been reported. What happens is that after periods of non-use (15 minutes or more) and even longer periods of use (over an hour) my computer freezes. Instead of my pointer cursor I see the all-too-familiar blue wheel indicating that a process is working, but it never finishes whatever it is doing.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI'm getting random freezes that require me to restart my computer and I'm not sure what's wrong. The OS installed fine with no missing drivers (aside from my wireless network card and my LAN drivers which still doesn't work: Realtek RTL8168B). At first I thought I had bad video drivers as I've experienced this before with Vista but the problem persisted even after updating to the lastest Windows 7 beta drivers from ATI.
It's strange because the system rarely froze during normal usage but the OS freezes immediately when I play any internet based games (Left4dead + COD4) or use any 3rd party program that requires bandwidth (utorrent + IRC).
I suspect the culprit now to be the wireless drivers but what doesn't make any sense is that I've had no issue at all with web browsing. Internet surfing and IM-based programs (Digsby) work fine. The wireless drivers work as expected.
Other things I've done:
Vista32 Home = stable.
Memtest86+ passed without errors.
All drivers current (Windows 7 betas if possible if not Vista64).
Ran programs that caused immediate freezing in compatibility mode (Vista SP1).
Power Options: Display off @ 30 minutes; Sleep @ 2 hours.
Turned off Media Player Network Sharing services (read it could be an issue)
Ok so, I'm running build 7229 which appears to work fine doing any task but it will freeze indefinately at what appears to be random times, sometimes straight after booting up sometimes 2-3 hours of general use, there is no obvious cause for this as like it said it freezes at random times when I can either be doing nothing or merely browsing using firefox or using media player, I haven't really done anything intensive on it either.
What things would you recommend I be doing to try and solve this?
Also the install took a very long time as it hung at various stages of the process but obviously completed in the end, which happened with both 7100 and 7229, is there any specific reason for this?
I've been having this problem for a little while now and have had a hard time pin-pointing the source.
It seems to be caused by the network card I have (look in my specs). Whenever I stream videos using ORB the computer will reset what seems to be about every 10 minutes. When I stop streaming, it stays on. Sometimes I'll leave it idle for about 6 - 8 hours, get home and notice that the mouse isn't on and the machine is just locked up. The only way to recover is to reboot.
This did this with previous releases of 7 but I thought it would be fixed in the RTM. I have the most recent drivers for my NIC.
every time i try to install windows 7 on my new build, i do a clean install, however it spends about a second on the copying files part, then waits a few minutes before it starts expanding files. it hangs at 0% for a few more minutes then it will start accelerating. it will crash at random points while it is "expanding files".
the crashes vary, sometimes the display will explode and look lagged out then look like small tiles, the display sometimes turns red where shadows are as well, it also likes to just freeze. it frequently likes to freeze at 76 or 46%.
i had 7 installed one time when i kept my mouse moving constantly throughout the installation, but then the freezes would happen when i would boot into normal windows, but not safe mode.
