Random Shutdowns With New Rebuild
Feb 13, 2012
I have begun experiencing random shutdown with my system. I recently re-built my first build adding an SSD, new motherboard, graphics card and memory. [code] I ran the SF Dx tool and included screen shots of CPU-Z tabs and CBS.log filtered for just the SR (system restore) points from the sfc /scannow. Included all files in the zipped Seven Forum folder attached.random shutdowns-periodically I will return to my computer and find a screen asking for a boot drive. hitting space will not work.i have to shut down using the power on button.Usually it boot into windows after the first time.Occasionally I have to power on and off a couple of times.screen bland for 10 to 20 seconds. Occasionally while switching between applications using Alt-Tab the screen will go blank for up to 20 seconds. It recovers on its own with a message saying my GPU shut down and was restarted. I have never actually seen a BSOD (am I in the wrong forum?) but would like to fix these problems. For a time I thought these were problems with my SSD and GPU but when I ran sfc and saw the number of files that weren't repaired I started having concerns.Oh and by the way I have run a variety of diagnostics on the SSD and GPU and nothing was revealed.

I dont know if this is the right area or not, as i just joined, but it seems to be the best place. I recently bought a new computer, and now it will randomly shut down. Its also making loud pitch noises. That just started happening. I called tech support and they told me it was probably just the power supply. Before I send it in though, i want to make sure that is what is wrong. I dont know all to put on here.

I thought I had this problem fixed but I guess not. My computer will randomly turn off (as if I unplugged it) at different times. I have had it done twice in the last hour I tried removing RAM in case that was the problem NO CHANGE. I bought a brand new power supply yesterday because I thought my old one was bad. It is a thermaltake 600 watts, which is more than enough to run this PC. A few days before that I got a new motherboard from the manufacturer. I am literally stumped, the only other thing I can think of is if my power switch is getting stuck. I have no idea how to replace or rewire a switch though besides getting a new case.

I was having some BSOD issues but they seemed to have been resolved. I have gotten a few random freeze then auto reboots. When it reboots it says "loading intel boot (something)" but then says there is no bootable media. I hit power to shut the pc off then hit it to turn it on and it boots like there is/was no problem. I have been trying to track and see when it does it but I cant seem to find a trend.

I recently reformatted my laptop and did the necessary steps in order to ensure everything was back on track. Unfortunately, yesterday when I tried to play Mass Effect 2 on Steam, my computer shut down without a BSOD or any other error message. I thought it might have been an overheating issue (I have never had an issue like this with my ASUS laptop, even while it was overclocked to the max through the ASUS utility). I figured it might be a one off, and decided to give it another go. Unfortunately, it happened again 20 minutes later as well.I was hoping someone can help me decipher the Event Viewer information and whatever else you may need, so I can fix the issue and beat Mass Effect 2 before the third one comes out.

The BSOD errors started two weeks ago when I woke my computer from sleep mode. It BSOD before it got to the login screen. Unfortunately, I didn't catch what it said. Since then, it hasn't crashed on startup again and instead I get a video scheduler BSOD whenever I play a game or video. I've tried everything from updating, uninstalling, reinstalling drivers to running tests on RAM and harddrives. Nothing has worked and the tests have come back with no errors.
So, in a last effort to solve the problem, last night I restored my system to factory settings. Now it BSOD, freezes up and shuts down randomly while running programs that where once unaffected (internet explorer for example).
I'm really hoping it's a software problem and not hardware. The system is a notebook, so the only hardware I have easy access to is the hard drive, memory, and wireless card. Everything else is buried in the casing and would require ripping the system apart to access. I would like to avoid that at all costs.
The system has Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit OEM and the system is not even a year old. I've included the minidump and perfmon file.

I've just spent the last couple of hours stripping down my rig,for a clean but mainly to do something about the cable management. But since rebuilding it 2 problems have arisen.problem 1 On start up I'm getting the message boot manager is missing .I go through the steps CTL>ALT>DEL then DEL to enter bios and select the drive to boot from in advanced mode F7 (only one drive is there on the initial bios screen where the drag and drop option is)Problem 2 once I've logged in it is only showing 2 of my 3 hard drives.I'm using a z77 mobo 60g ssd boot,256g ssd and a 1tb mechanical. When I go into Computer management the 2 of the 3 drives are visible there.

No matter what compiler I elect to use (I have tried codeblocks, bloodshed dev C++, visual studio c++ express 2005, visual studio 2008 & 2010 and eclipe [java]) when i attempt to rebuild a project after executing it once, it will link and compile, but and error will appear stating that the compiler could not open the executable to re-write it. I have already attempted the following:
** I have no Antivirus running (windows has a warning stating it).
** I have no firewall running (windows also has a warning about it).
** I have checked process explorer and no Antivirus or firewall is running.
** I have checked process explorer and no other process is attempting to use that executable. (the program terminates from process explorer at the same time it stops running in command prompt)
** I have followed all necessary instruction to make sure cygwin was removed from my computer.
My program will compile & run without any errors (it does this to any code i try to compile, even hello world [so it isn't a coding error]. Its may be a compiler error because it happens with c++ and java [same problem from command line too) or its an ide problem as this happens with multiple ide.
I am going to take a guess and say I either a have a rogue av or firewall (Windows Defender) issue that I can not seem to track down and shut down or windows keeps accessing the project directory (process explorer did show a process name "system" was accessing that project directory). I am the admin for the computer, and the only account on it. I really don't want to dual boot linux just to develop programs.

my netgear wireless modem and wireless network were renamed and all the passwords reset. Hard reset to recover. I am still getting browsers redirected daily. All three browsers each will give message that setting have been changed when opened. IE will say search setting have been corrupted and mandate Bing. Internet Options will be reset to custom levels without a reboot. I have installed AVG 2012 paid. No scan from various scanners will show an infected file except some cookies. AVG rescue disk scan found 13 password protected files that were renamed. Broke AVG and required a reinstall. Password protected files were back by the end of the day. AVG says there should be NO password protected files in their sub-directories during a rescue scan. Their solution is a wipe and reinstall. What is the safest process of doing the HD wipe and reinstall? Just plugging the thumb drive in got me all this grief. Is reinstalling files from the DVD the same process? If i try to access my old files am i opening myself to reinfection?

I have Toshiba Dynabook that I bought in Japan. It originally had Vista on it, but recently I yanked the hard drive out and replaced it with a new one and installed windows 7 on it. I installed all the drivers it required using driver max and windows update, but it keeps freezing randomly. I ran the disk error check and no change and I tweaked my boot up to only run needed programs. I'm pretty sure it's not an overheating issue because it will run for hours when installing the os. I've already spent more time than I wanted to invest in this and am ready to smash the computer.

I have win 7 running on RAID 1 using 2 Seagate 750GB hdds...My motherboard is an ASUS P5 series with an onboard Intel Raid chip.So apparently one of the drives went dead and since it's RAID 1 no problem right? Just replace the disk and it will auto rebuild... Problem is, this thing happened just as i was about to step out of my house for a week long vacation... I thought i'd get a new drive when i got back and shutdown the pc to save on power while i was away...Fast forward a week, so i boot up the computer and the Intel Raid boot sequence shows that i have a degraded drive... No biggie... I thought i'd boot it up first and replace the degraded drive later... What i didn't notice was that Intel Raid controller had designated another one of my existing drives as a spare and marked it for auto rebuild in Windows...So, upon booting into Windows, Intel Rapid Storage starts rebuilding on the wrong drive... So now i have 1.5TB HDD data that has been wrongly auto rebuilt... I've sinced replaced the degraded drive and the array is back to normal but my data drive is mush... I tried using Active Undelete and it's able to scan the files and recover but the files are corrupted...

My desktop started having icon issues, so I did a little reading up and saw that it could help by deleting the iconcache.db file. I did so, and now my icons are completely gone. I can still see the text under the icons and can still access the programs, however they are running slower than normal. Also, on a related note, nothing happens when I click the start menu button.I am running Windows 7 Home Pro 64 bit. I have tried all the fixes to no avail, even launched in safe mode.

Battlefield Bad Company 2 and Crysis 2 have caused my computer to totally shutdown without warning after about 20-30 mins of play. Then after maybe 3-5 mins after the shutdown the computer restarts its self. First game I installed into this machine was Shogun 2 and I did not have a problem with shutdowns. However I haven't played that game in awhile. I am going to format harddrive and reinstall windows 7.

There are several problems with HP Mini netbook. First among them is that programs keep freezing. It seems to start up normally, but shortly after you launch any program (even explorer or the control panel), it hangs. This means among other things that I can't get into Device Manager to look at things like drivers because I can't get there before the freeze sets in. When it happens I can still get to the toolbar and use the start menu and so on, but if I try to launch any other programs, nothing happens. Also I can't force the shutdown of the "hung" programs.
I figured this sounded like a Class A virus situation, so I tried to download some tools like AVG. The Freeze got me, using both IE and Chrome. I tried loading up my USB Thumbdrive (full of troubleshooting tools). The HP won't admit that it even exists, and the access light on the stick never blinks. An external USB HDD available, so I hooked it up. Again, not even rejected, just ignored. The HP will recognize an external DVD drive, but refuses to let me write anything to a black disc. In fact when I try the drive disappears altogether.

Before this problem happened, I downloaded my GPU enhancing software. It kinda screwed the graphics and I think at this point the problem began.I don't know how to copy the what bluescreen said. But I think it said some new software or hardware causing the windows to not function properly. So, I deleted the GPU enhancing program completely (I thought it would be bertter to do recovery, but there was no critical update.) Deleting it fixed my screwed graphics but not the bluescreen problem.

Critical error: Kernel power 41 (63)
Alongwith a sidebyside 33 error with comes a few seconds before the power error, to give to background this wasn't happening before I download this game and installed it but I have done virus scans and nothing turns up i have even reformat and it stills continues to happen. This is actually the thing I download: [URL]. Actually the last time I had a virus scanner open I also had cpu-z and I was noticing that the cpu % of use was going up a lot from just that and then the temp kept going up as well at one point it was 80-90 degrees

So my computer running Windows 7 64 just yesterday crashed twice with BSOD. First was a stop: 0x0000001e and the second was a stop: 0x000000a. Since then my computer will randomly force-close all my programs and revert to the login screen saying "Shutting down..." and the computer will restart. I am no longer getting BSODs, just this. It occurs. Regardless of what I'm doing and no more than 10minutes logging into windows. In fact, even if I let windows sit at the login screen without signing in, it will still shut down and restart.
It also does this in Safe Mode.
Before yesterday, I had no problems with my computer. Now it forces a shut down. It's not overheating - I can check my temps before windows shuts down and my i7 idles around 45.
I looked around the event log and found an eventID: 109 "Power Kernel has initialized a shutdown". But no idea if that's indeed what is causing the problem or how to interpret that.
keep in mind that my computer was working perfectly less than 12 hours ago. No new download, no new drivers or hardware, no new software.

Been having some crashes. At first they occurred on start up. Claiming the computer wasn't properly shut down. Now today, the other crashes started, with the first happening out of nowhere, the second happening upon starting a video game. I've been without crashes for a while now, only having used my browser(Opera) and copying some files to an external hard drive. As well as the SF tool.I only have 2 dump files available. SF tool file should be in attachments, unless I made a mistake somewhere
