This has happened twice now in the past week. Computer will randomly shutdown unexpectedly (cold and dark) with the BSOD c000021a on startup. I am able to get windows to boot again using startup repair, but I'm getting sick of having unexpected crashes.

i noticed if i keep my system on overnight i will find an error message saying "windows has recovered from an unexpected shutdown" with the following messages

Its seems to happen when i leave the system on over night, i also had a problem with the system coming out of sleep mode so i disabled sleep and hibernation, i feel like the 2 may be related, can anyone help?

Trouble shooting done so far:-
Memtest 86 - no errors after a full pass.
updated video card drivers no help ( also windows message center is saying i dont have the video card driver for a hd 5700 series card installed, but i have a 5800 series card, with up to date drivers.
i restarted my compure about an hour ago for it to complete a windows update, on the logout screen and showed: installing updates, it jumped from 10% to 20 and thirty and the skipped to shutting down.when starting back up again i got a BSOD saying:STOP: c000021a {fatal system error} The Verification of a knownDLL failed. system process terminated unexpectedly the system has been shut down.in the startup repair i get:startup repair cannot repair this computer automaitcally.

for some reason i cant find how to enter safe mode on this mobo (its a new computer)ive hit F8 and it just takes me to a boot priority. F10 11 12 arnt for safe mode either.

It kinda screwed the graphics and I think at this point the problem began.I don't know how to copy the what bluescreen said. But I think it said some new software or hardware causing the windows to not function properly. So, I deleted the GPU enhancing program completely (I thought it would be bertter to do recovery, but there was no critical update.) Deleting it fixed my screwed graphics but not the bluescreen problem.

I also ran Windows 7 Verifier to stress test drivers and uninstalled anything I found to be an issue. I recently ran into an issue with my system receiving the Stop: C000021a Fatal System Error BSOD. It only occurs at nighttime after I am done gaming. From the system logs it seems to crash right after I get off the system (like within 15 minutes). I do have a screen timeout setting of 15 minutes. However, I play the same games throughout the day on and off with my screen timing out and it doesn't BSOD then. ONLY at nighttime. I can't think of anything else I am doing that is different. Below is a list of changes I recall since the issue started up.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI was having some BSOD issues but they seemed to have been resolved. I have gotten a few random freeze then auto reboots. When it reboots it says "loading intel boot (something)" but then says there is no bootable media. I hit power to shut the pc off then hit it to turn it on and it boots like there is/was no problem. I have been trying to track and see when it does it but I cant seem to find a trend.

To compare, before, the time it took me to go downstairs, get a drink, and come back, everything would be done loading. Now, by the time I get back, it takes an extra 30 seconds or so. [URL]. I run CCleaner occasionally, a full scan with SAS turned up clean, same with MBAM. I'm not sure what the problem is, I only have Avast and IDM running at start up.

Once while playing WoW, but the other time while merely browsing the internet with Google Chrome. However, I've previously also had unexpected shutdowns where my computer would just quit. Wouldn't even bluescreen. Just shut off everything.

i've been getting bsods for the past couple of months. i'm running windows 7 professional x64 on a one-year-old sony vaio vpcs12c7e laptop. it's the original os which came installed on the system, and i've never re-installed it. the bsods all share some basic features:
they're all 0x0000007f unexpected_kernel_mode_trap errors (see attached dump files). they all happen when watching content online (usually adobe flash based, such as Internet) though occasionally offline when using vlc player. they all happen seemingly sporadicly - either thirty seconds or two hours under the above conditions.
the bsods also occur more instantaneously when streaming high-quality videos or multiple files at once. they started happening directly after i inserted an empty usb memory stick from a friend into my laptop. i can't recall the make or model of the usb stick. anyway, here are the dump files.
i used to get the BSOD very often so i decided to recover the system to the initial state . i did that and everything was fine , then i updated the windows 7 service pack 1 and finished the installation and rebooted my computer , the start-up at least took half an hour at that time and the service pack 1 installation showed "not successful " i tried to again to update the service pack1 which showed 73.6mb - 892.6mb so i updated it again and again the same thing happened.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have begun experiencing random shutdown with my system. I recently re-built my first build adding an SSD, new motherboard, graphics card and memory. [code] I ran the SF Dx tool and included screen shots of CPU-Z tabs and CBS.log filtered for just the SR (system restore) points from the sfc /scannow. Included all files in the zipped Seven Forum folder attached.random shutdowns-periodically I will return to my computer and find a screen asking for a boot drive. hitting space will not work.i have to shut down using the power on button.Usually it boot into windows after the first time.Occasionally I have to power on and off a couple of times.screen bland for 10 to 20 seconds. Occasionally while switching between applications using Alt-Tab the screen will go blank for up to 20 seconds.It recovers on its own with a message saying my GPU shut down and was restarted. I have never actually seen a BSOD (am I in the wrong forum?) but would like to fix these problems.For a time I thought these were problems with my SSD and GPU but when I ran sfc and saw the number of files that weren't repaired I started having concerns.Oh and by the way I have run a variety of diagnostics on the SSD and GPU and nothing was revealed.

I have had it done twice in the last hour I tried removing RAM in case that was the problem NO CHANGE. I bought a brand new power supply yesterday because I thought my old one was bad. It is a thermaltake 600 watts, which is more than enough to run this PC. A few days before that I got a new motherboard from the manufacturer. I am literally stumped, the only other thing I can think of is if my power switch is getting stuck. I have no idea how to replace or rewire a switch though besides getting a new case.

I'm just trying to figure out what exactly is hanging my reboots and shutdowns. I get to the shutting down screen in no time but it just sits there for like 2 minutes then shuts down or reboots. Obviously something that is not expected and kind of annoying.
Battlefield Bad Company 2 and Crysis 2 have caused my computer to totally shutdown without warning after about 20-30 mins of play. Then after maybe 3-5 mins after the shutdown the computer restarts its self. First game I installed into this machine was Shogun 2 and I did not have a problem with shutdowns. However I haven't played that game in awhile. I am going to format harddrive and reinstall windows 7.

So I get this BSOD when my machine starts up, right after the BIOS/memory/harddrive screen. Can someone please tell me what this means?
(Sorry I cant get a dumpfile because I cant get past this and get the OS up.)
I hope I have done everything correctly as far as following the instructions to report my bsod problems. I've noctice it usually resets and bsod after I logged into windows? if it doesn't crash in the first few minutes upon entering windows then it seems my system would be stable for hours on end.
