View 1 RepliesI dont know if this is the right area or not, as i just joined, but it seems to be the best place. I recently bought a new computer, and now it will randomly shut down. Its also making loud pitch noises. That just started happening. I called tech support and they told me it was probably just the power supply. Before I send it in though, i want to make sure that is what is wrong. I dont know all to put on here.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have begun experiencing random shutdown with my system. I recently re-built my first build adding an SSD, new motherboard, graphics card and memory. [code] I ran the SF Dx tool and included screen shots of CPU-Z tabs and CBS.log filtered for just the SR (system restore) points from the sfc /scannow. Included all files in the zipped Seven Forum folder attached.random shutdowns-periodically I will return to my computer and find a screen asking for a boot drive. hitting space will not work.i have to shut down using the power on button.Usually it boot into windows after the first time.Occasionally I have to power on and off a couple of times.screen bland for 10 to 20 seconds. Occasionally while switching between applications using Alt-Tab the screen will go blank for up to 20 seconds. It recovers on its own with a message saying my GPU shut down and was restarted. I have never actually seen a BSOD (am I in the wrong forum?) but would like to fix these problems. For a time I thought these were problems with my SSD and GPU but when I ran sfc and saw the number of files that weren't repaired I started having concerns.Oh and by the way I have run a variety of diagnostics on the SSD and GPU and nothing was revealed.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI thought I had this problem fixed but I guess not. My computer will randomly turn off (as if I unplugged it) at different times. I have had it done twice in the last hour I tried removing RAM in case that was the problem NO CHANGE. I bought a brand new power supply yesterday because I thought my old one was bad. It is a thermaltake 600 watts, which is more than enough to run this PC. A few days before that I got a new motherboard from the manufacturer. I am literally stumped, the only other thing I can think of is if my power switch is getting stuck. I have no idea how to replace or rewire a switch though besides getting a new case.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI was having some BSOD issues but they seemed to have been resolved. I have gotten a few random freeze then auto reboots. When it reboots it says "loading intel boot (something)" but then says there is no bootable media. I hit power to shut the pc off then hit it to turn it on and it boots like there is/was no problem. I have been trying to track and see when it does it but I cant seem to find a trend.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI recently reformatted my laptop and did the necessary steps in order to ensure everything was back on track. Unfortunately, yesterday when I tried to play Mass Effect 2 on Steam, my computer shut down without a BSOD or any other error message. I thought it might have been an overheating issue (I have never had an issue like this with my ASUS laptop, even while it was overclocked to the max through the ASUS utility). I figured it might be a one off, and decided to give it another go. Unfortunately, it happened again 20 minutes later as well.I was hoping someone can help me decipher the Event Viewer information and whatever else you may need, so I can fix the issue and beat Mass Effect 2 before the third one comes out.
View 6 Replies View RelatedThe BSOD errors started two weeks ago when I woke my computer from sleep mode. It BSOD before it got to the login screen. Unfortunately, I didn't catch what it said. Since then, it hasn't crashed on startup again and instead I get a video scheduler BSOD whenever I play a game or video. I've tried everything from updating, uninstalling, reinstalling drivers to running tests on RAM and harddrives. Nothing has worked and the tests have come back with no errors.
So, in a last effort to solve the problem, last night I restored my system to factory settings. Now it BSOD, freezes up and shuts down randomly while running programs that where once unaffected (internet explorer for example).
I'm really hoping it's a software problem and not hardware. The system is a notebook, so the only hardware I have easy access to is the hard drive, memory, and wireless card. Everything else is buried in the casing and would require ripping the system apart to access. I would like to avoid that at all costs.
The system has Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit OEM and the system is not even a year old. I've included the minidump and perfmon file.
My computer has been randomly shutting down for the past few days, and i have no idea what could be causing it.i'm currently running windows 7 home premium x64. it is OEM preinstalled.the laptop is a T520 from lenovo and is approximately a month old. the os is the same age as it came with the laptop, so about a month old.
View 1 Replies View RelatedBefore this problem happened, I downloaded my GPU enhancing software. It kinda screwed the graphics and I think at this point the problem began.I don't know how to copy the what bluescreen said. But I think it said some new software or hardware causing the windows to not function properly. So, I deleted the GPU enhancing program completely (I thought it would be bertter to do recovery, but there was no critical update.) Deleting it fixed my screwed graphics but not the bluescreen problem.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have an acer Extensa 5620Z laptop and recently, without any warning it just restarts. A blue screen appears out of nowhere and then the computer restarts. When I was able to choose how to restartt I chose safe mode and went to the event log where it said "The driver detected a controller error on DeviceIdeIdePort2.". I have no idea what this is and I've seen a bunch of stuff talking about reconnecting thing and adding new roms
View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen I turn off my computer, it often says "please do not unplug or power off your machine, installing update 1 of 1".The message stays on for ever, and the actual update seems to materialize. Keyboard hits have no effect. I need to pull the power cable and re-start !What can I do to stop this from happening?

I'm just trying to figure out what exactly is hanging my reboots and shutdowns. I get to the shutting down screen in no time but it just sits there for like 2 minutes then shuts down or reboots. Obviously something that is not expected and kind of annoying.
Battlefield Bad Company 2 and Crysis 2 have caused my computer to totally shutdown without warning after about 20-30 mins of play. Then after maybe 3-5 mins after the shutdown the computer restarts its self. First game I installed into this machine was Shogun 2 and I did not have a problem with shutdowns. However I haven't played that game in awhile. I am going to format harddrive and reinstall windows 7.

This has happened twice now in the past week. Computer will randomly shutdown unexpectedly (cold and dark) with the BSOD c000021a on startup. I am able to get windows to boot again using startup repair, but I'm getting sick of having unexpected crashes.
View 9 Replies View RelatedThere are several problems with HP Mini netbook. First among them is that programs keep freezing. It seems to start up normally, but shortly after you launch any program (even explorer or the control panel), it hangs. This means among other things that I can't get into Device Manager to look at things like drivers because I can't get there before the freeze sets in. When it happens I can still get to the toolbar and use the start menu and so on, but if I try to launch any other programs, nothing happens. Also I can't force the shutdown of the "hung" programs.
I figured this sounded like a Class A virus situation, so I tried to download some tools like AVG. The Freeze got me, using both IE and Chrome. I tried loading up my USB Thumbdrive (full of troubleshooting tools). The HP won't admit that it even exists, and the access light on the stick never blinks. An external USB HDD available, so I hooked it up. Again, not even rejected, just ignored. The HP will recognize an external DVD drive, but refuses to let me write anything to a black disc. In fact when I try the drive disappears altogether.
i noticed if i keep my system on overnight i will find an error message saying "windows has recovered from an unexpected shutdown" with the following messages

I am having my pc shutting down randomly when I say this I mean a blank screen no BSOD and when I turn on my computer then go in to the event viewer I get the following:
Critical error: Kernel power 41 (63)
Alongwith a sidebyside 33 error with comes a few seconds before the power error, to give to background this wasn't happening before I download this game and installed it but I have done virus scans and nothing turns up i have even reformat and it stills continues to happen. This is actually the thing I download: [URL]. Actually the last time I had a virus scanner open I also had cpu-z and I was noticing that the cpu % of use was going up a lot from just that and then the temp kept going up as well at one point it was 80-90 degrees

So my computer running Windows 7 64 just yesterday crashed twice with BSOD. First was a stop: 0x0000001e and the second was a stop: 0x000000a. Since then my computer will randomly force-close all my programs and revert to the login screen saying "Shutting down..." and the computer will restart. I am no longer getting BSODs, just this. It occurs. Regardless of what I'm doing and no more than 10minutes logging into windows. In fact, even if I let windows sit at the login screen without signing in, it will still shut down and restart.
It also does this in Safe Mode.
Before yesterday, I had no problems with my computer. Now it forces a shut down. It's not overheating - I can check my temps before windows shuts down and my i7 idles around 45.
I looked around the event log and found an eventID: 109 "Power Kernel has initialized a shutdown". But no idea if that's indeed what is causing the problem or how to interpret that.
keep in mind that my computer was working perfectly less than 12 hours ago. No new download, no new drivers or hardware, no new software.
computer continuously shutdowns when playing games on internet and occasional message indicating internet explorer is unresponsive.
View 3 Replies View Relatedfor the past 2-3 weeks i have been experiencing 2-3 second lag spikes on my asus laptop. before this the computer was running fine. the lag effects everything from typing in the url box to watching videos on Internet to playing diablo 2. it seems like almost anything i attempt to do, even clicking on an icon on the desktop, will make the laptop lag for 2-3 seconds. i have an asus k52n-bgr5 laptop w/ windows 7 home premium. i have attempted to reinstall the os (the only form of troubleshooting i have lol) to no avail. i'm willing to post any specs/tests/etc. needed in order to fix the problem as long as i know what it is i need to post.
View 3 Replies View RelatedOne of my clients is having an issue where, the 'Low Memory' message comes up, the entire laptop then freezes and you cannot get into task manager and turning off the laptop is the only way out. You then log back in and all display settings are turned down. This is completely random and nothing in particular is run at the time of the error.Looking in the event log there are numerous "Windows successfully diagnosed a low virtual memory condition." errors just before the crash. Though each error sais different applications are taking up the memory.I have attached screenshots of the first error message upon restart as-well as the required files.[CODE]

I bought a Toshiba Satelite laptop last month and everything was working fine up until 2 or 3 days ago. Since then I have had a few BSOD messages, all when I've been doing different things (surfing the internet, playing Football Manager etc.)I was wondering if you'd be able to help me find a solution for this, whether that be take the laptop back or a fix you guys could help me with.
The laptop is Windows 7 Home Premium, x64, OEM. The laptop was bought at the begining of January and I have not altered the OS.The files I hope you will find the answer in are included
My laptop has currently been experiencing random BSODs while using Google Chrome, Visual Studio 2010, Windows Media Player, and iTunes. Sometimes I get them like 2 times a day, sometimes none at all. Here are some additional information:
-Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
-it is the original installed OS on my laptop
-it is an OEM
-my laptop is an ACER ASPIRE 4750G. it is only 2-3 months old.
-the OS was installed the same day i bought the laptop.
I have a new(ish) Dell XPS Laptop which is approx 3/4 months old so its still under warranty. I have been in touch with Dell but they keep fobbing me off without fixing the problem. For the past 3 weeks I have been getting random BSOD, sometimes I am using the machine, sometimes not. I am a developer/desiger so I have a lot of apps installed like illustrator, fireworks, visual studio but there are times when none of these are running, its crashing even when surfing the web.
View 7 Replies View Relatedi have a laptop 3 years now, a Sony VGN-NW21SF. My laptop gives me random BSOD's and often freezes. I dont perform any special operation when these incidents occur. The Laptop may be idle when this happens. Sometimes, i leave the computer turned on, and when i come back either the system has frozen requiring a pwr_btn shutdown, or has restarted with BSOD's. I have no indication on what is causing this, only one suspicion. That my Laptop is not compatible with SSD's. I suspect this because if i remeber correct, these BSOD's and Freezes, started when i first installed an SSD. Then i changed this SSD with another one, but still the problem remained.I have thrown away two ssd's and after i purchased a third one, different brand, different capacity the problems persist... Needless two say that now i feel like an idiot blaming and throwing away two ssd's... Because it can't be 3 ssd's with the same problem..... The other obeservation is that the BSOd may not happen for more than a month, and suddenly it may happen 4 times per day...
View 9 Replies View RelatedFor the past day random lines have been appearing on my desktop. The following picture is not my laptop but I found this image and its the same thing that happens on my computer. The lines appear in different spots each time and will stay for a short amount of time.

I brought a HP Pavilion laptop from ebay quite a while ago now, the only problem listed was that the battery didn't work. The laptop worked fine for months and then it started to crash, when it crashed I couldn't do anything, the mouse wouldn't move and none of the keys would work either so all I could do was hold the power button in to shut it down. The charge light seems to flash just before the laptop crashes. I thought the problem might of been with the battery so I brought a new battery for the laptop. It still wouldn't recognise there was a battery plugged in, sometimes it won't have a red cross on the battery but will say "plugged in but not charging". I have noticed now that when the laptop does crash if I unplug the charger for a second and plug it back in (as the charge doesn't hold on the battery) the laptop will start working again. I was thinking the problem may lie with the charger or the bit inside the laptop the charger plugs into.
