Random 2-3 Second Laptop Lag

Aug 13, 2011

for the past 2-3 weeks i have been experiencing 2-3 second lag spikes on my asus laptop. before this the computer was running fine. the lag effects everything from typing in the url box to watching videos on Internet to playing diablo 2. it seems like almost anything i attempt to do, even clicking on an icon on the desktop, will make the laptop lag for 2-3 seconds. i have an asus k52n-bgr5 laptop w/ windows 7 home premium. i have attempted to reinstall the os (the only form of troubleshooting i have lol) to no avail. i'm willing to post any specs/tests/etc. needed in order to fix the problem as long as i know what it is i need to post.

Random BSOD On Laptop?

May 21, 2012

One of my clients is having an issue where, the 'Low Memory' message comes up, the entire laptop then freezes and you cannot get into task manager and turning off the laptop is the only way out. You then log back in and all display settings are turned down. This is completely random and nothing in particular is run at the time of the error.Looking in the event log there are numerous "Windows successfully diagnosed a low virtual memory condition." errors just before the crash. Though each error sais different applications are taking up the memory.I have attached screenshots of the first error message upon restart as-well as the required files.[CODE]

Random BSOD's And Laptop Freezes?

Jul 8, 2012

i have a laptop 3 years now, a Sony VGN-NW21SF. My laptop gives me random BSOD's and often freezes. I dont perform any special operation when these incidents occur. The Laptop may be idle when this happens. Sometimes, i leave the computer turned on, and when i come back either the system has frozen requiring a pwr_btn shutdown, or has restarted with BSOD's. I have no indication on what is causing this, only one suspicion. That my Laptop is not compatible with SSD's. I suspect this because if i remeber correct, these BSOD's and Freezes, started when i first installed an SSD. Then i changed this SSD with another one, but still the problem remained.I have thrown away two ssd's and after i purchased a third one, different brand, different capacity the problems persist... Needless two say that now i feel like an idiot blaming and throwing away two ssd's... Because it can't be 3 ssd's with the same problem..... The other obeservation is that the BSOd may not happen for more than a month, and suddenly it may happen 4 times per day...

Laptop Crash At Random Intervals?

Oct 20, 2012

I brought a HP Pavilion laptop from ebay quite a while ago now, the only problem listed was that the battery didn't work. The laptop worked fine for months and then it started to crash, when it crashed I couldn't do anything, the mouse wouldn't move and none of the keys would work either so all I could do was hold the power button in to shut it down. The charge light seems to flash just before the laptop crashes. I thought the problem might of been with the battery so I brought a new battery for the laptop. It still wouldn't recognise there was a battery plugged in, sometimes it won't have a red cross on the battery but will say "plugged in but not charging". I have noticed now that when the laptop does crash if I unplug the charger for a second and plug it back in (as the charge doesn't hold on the battery) the laptop will start working again. I was thinking the problem may lie with the charger or the bit inside the laptop the charger plugs into.

Strange Random And Sudden Power Cuts On Laptop

Aug 22, 2012

I seem to be having crashes on my laptop as of recent, but the patterns they follow are very strange. It's almost like i'm getting a BSOD while it being used, but instead the screen just go black and all power cuts. It then reboots and starts up as usual. As far as I can tell there is no conflicting software causing this, and it happens without any pattern. Since there is no Blue Screen, I cannot give a dump file. However, on the even viewer, I see an event labeled under the critical category. Now this seems like the CPU or other internal component is overheating, But when i look at HWMonitor Pro, the CPU stays under a steady 84C under load and 60C idle. This happens in a range of occasions such as rendering videos with Handbrake to simply browsing the web. I will say this, I recently swapped out my RAM cards because the OEM one's were causing BSOD's about a month ago. If you'd like more specific information on the laptop, visit my old thread.

Lenovo Laptop Windows 7 Random Internet Hiccups?

Oct 14, 2012

Starting about two days ago (Friday - October 12th) my laptop has been experiencing what I can only seem to call internet "hiccups"I will easily connect to the internet upon starting it up, as usual, but after attempting to browse the internet or use any online game or application, it takes several minutes to load before telling me I have no internet connection, all the while it is showing I have excellent 5 bar connection in the bottom right next to my clock. After experimenting, I decided to use the command prompt to ping google using the -t command so it would continually ping it.This showed that during a "hiccup" period (When my internet isn't working but shows it's working), I only get packets back about every other time, while the others say "Request timed out"So it is showing that I am literally connected every other second. I theorize that this is why it doesn't show me disconnected in the bottom right.I've tried reinstalling the drivers, restarting, restoring, and anything else I and several of my friends could think of to no avail. I have absolutely no idea why this is happening.

Sony Vaio Laptop Cursor Random Movement Workaround

Aug 23, 2011

I recently bought a new Sony Vaio laptop and got on great with it until I noticed an aggravating problem.

Whenever I was typing some text, the cursor had an annoying habit of jumping all over the place, so I'd find myself typing text in the middle of a sentence I'd completed earlier.

It turns out that if you use a mouse without disabling the touchpad, the two conflict with each other, which results in this erratic cursor behaviour.

Why use a mouse you may ask. Well, I suffer with arthritis from time to time and a wireless mouse is easier to use than the touchpad.

So, if anyone has a Sony Vaio and is experiencing the same problem just go to:

Start>All Programs>Vaio Control Center>Categories Tab>Expand Keyboard & Mouse>Double-click Built-in Pointing Device>Uncheck Enable box>Apply>OK>Yes.

This disables the touchpad and stops the erratic cursor movement.

Its been doing that on and off for months. My other protection expired some months ago, so I got the update last week which was $89. But the 1st thing it said was to "Uninstall the previous security system". So i let it run, and it was "uninstalling" for 3 whole days and then it just stopped, So i tried to manually uninstall the other program, but again it would not. I am not sure what to do now.

Laptop Crashes, Random Pattern On Screen / Blue-screen?

Dec 19, 2011

one day it suddenly crashed while i was watching a movie. it displayed random patterns on screen. kinda like part of the image from the video is on the screen then a black strip and random colors. I restarted the unit to safe mode and left it on and browsed the net and downloaded some big files for how many hours and nothing happened.. there are also times when windows is still loading with the windows logo on screen, it crashes. there are also times when the login screen is displayed and it crashes. it just crashes randomly! so i tried to reformat it. i deleted the partitions and created a new one, formatted it then fresh installed windows 7 ( my previous OS is windows 7 by the way) and started installing the basic drivers and after a few hours, it crashed again...thinking that the driver installed might not be compatible, i tried another fresh install of windows (same execution, delete partition, create, install OS) and this time, without installing the drivers, it crashed again after a few hours... sometimes it crashes immediately after turning it on from cold start!

Random BSOD, Random Codes, While Using And While Away?

May 18, 2012

A couple weeks ago I started having random BSOD and restarts, I have researched several different solutions to no avail. At one point, I thought the problem was solved after restoring a restore point, however, the dreaded BSOD is back after a couple of days.

- Restored the earliest restore point
- Ran chkdsk with no errors
- Ran full scan AV (just in case) using MSSE.
- Updated all Windows and drivers updates.

I believe this is related to a driver issue, however, I'm not sure which one.Attached is both the BSOD App and System Health data.

Basic specs:

- Windows 7 x64
- Original Install
- OEM
- System age: 6 months
- OS install age: 6 months (not reinstalled)
