RAID1 Split Drives Cannot See Erased Hdd
Jun 26, 2012
I'm running RAID1 with two 1tb drives. My RAID went critical and split the drives. One drive was listed as LD 2 -1. The other is listed as <single disk>. I was able to unplug either individually and boot into windows. I decided to erase one of them and planned to rebuid the array afterwards. At this point, I can see the erased HDD in BIOS and in RAID setup, but it will not boot to Window with the erased drive connected. It starts to boot into Windows, then gives a brief flash of BSOD, then reboots itself.

I use a backup software called Macrium Reflect and they have an option for splitting your backup archive. I have a split archive that I have stored over multiple hard drives (because it is a very large file), but I cannot open the archive unless the archives are all in one folder. Is there some way to make a "virtual directory" or network drive so that I can use these files as if they are in the same folder, even though they are on different drives?

I have an Intel 80GB SSD (bootable OS Windows 7 installed) and a WD 500GB HDD (storage and backup). Is it possible to mirror my SSD onto an 80GB volume on my HDD using Windows 7's RAID1? If so, do I suffer a performance hit on my read/write speeds in Windows 7 on my SSD?

I built my PC(Window 7 64 bit pro) year and an half ago with SSD, but now i planning to start my business, i am thinking to put to get two new SSDs on my pc to set up as RAID 1 (if i remember correctly, it help to store data in case one die)thinking to get Intel, but i hear some bad thing regarding to Intel with sandforce SSD, can someone point what is going to effect my pc?is it possible to clone my ext'g SSD with the OS to new RAID SSDs, then use the old SSD for minor storage, so my PC will never have problem with the SSD(if it does i just replace one of them) which software should i use for clone and how do i set up the RAID 1 if i do it.

I'm currently have 1 SSD for OS and 2 HDD in RAID1 for data, all connected to the same Intel controller on my EVGA X58 3x SLI motherboard. I'm planning to re-install Windows 7 x64 Pro on the SSD. While doing this, I would also like to reformat the 2 RAIDed HDD's. What are the steps that I need in order to reformat the RAID1?
My SATA mode is set to AHCI at the moment. If I set the SATA mode to RAID and I boot to Windows, I'll get BSOD after the Windows logo screen. I'm not having Intel Matrix Storage Manager installed. The last time I did so on my current OS (also Win 7 x64 Pro), I got some weird chkdsk error, in which I was given thousands of "Replacing invalid security id with default id ..." for files on the RAIDed drive.
I'm planning to reuse the same 2 HDD's for RAID1 after the reinstallation. I've already copied the current data on the RAIDed disks to some external USB source.

I have an OCZ Vertex 3 SSD and 2 WD caviar blue HDDs. I have them installed on an ASUS Maximus IV Gene-Z MB. I have Win 7 Home Installed on the SSD and would like to set up a RAID 1 array with the HDDs for my data storage (music, pictures, etc.). From what I understand I must do a hardware RAID setup since Win 7 Home does not support the software RAID array. The only information I could find is how to install windows on the array and not use it as a non-bootable array for data storage.

I recently purchased a Gateway NV7921u and the first thing I did was install Win 7 Ultimate on it as this is what I have on my other PC's. For some reason, now the built-in webcam does not work, the multi-gesture touchpad only utilizes one finger, only half of the touch-sensitive keys work above the keyboard and, most importantly, I can ONLY get on the net WIRELESSLY. If I plug in an Ethernet cable and hardwire it I lose my connection entirely and it is driving me bonkers. Gateway says it is a driver issue so I click the link for say, the webcam driver or the WAN driver and download them (I also use a program called driver detective that does this for me

I had a new computer assembled by a shop. I have I7 950 based system and has twin 1tb hardrives. I wanted to mirror the drives and files under windows, however the shop set up the drives in Raid1.(shop doesnt know what customer service is) I transferred all my files onto the drive with window home premium etc before realizing it had been instlled with Raid bios setup. I want to remove the raid format (bios) and clear the drives and reinstall the drives under windows to use one a a backup drive. I have a external drive I can use to assist and later use a a second backup drive.I understand once I clear the Raid formatting I will wipe all the info from the installed drives? Can I make a backup on my external drive and reinstall all my prgrams and files from my external drive once I do this. Also If I mirror windows 7 to my external drive can I reinstall this from my external drive to the internal drive or will it be set up as a raid format and not be of use?

I put two HDDs on GA P55A-UD4P motherboard in Raid1 type array (on Intel SATA Controller) and they were working fine for quite some time (2 weeks or so). One day, after Windows started up, I noticed a blue icon on Intel RST manager and it says that the array is initializing. Will it delete the data that is stored in there already ? As far as I know, initialization is needed in Raid5 type arrays, where parity needs to be calculated. Raid1 is a pure mirror so what would be the need for initialization right now with data in the array already?

I'll get right to it cause this is serious for me and I screwed up royaly. My original OS Windows 7 was on a normal hard drive and I installed a second copy of Windows 7 on a new SSD drive that I got and used it as my primary and left everything on the old one just didn't delete it. When the time came for me to finally say bye bye to all the previous items on the former drive since I was now using the SSD for OS and applications I formated using the Windows 7 startup disc. I cannot boot from the SSD nor does it even show in Device Manager (I'm gonna check the connections for that) This information is still recoverable I know but what's the best way to go about it. Will I be able to use the SSD to boot widows again if I repair this one thing? Can I at least get my files back somehow?

I enabled the Admin account and wanted to set password but it put up a warning that doing this would erase all EFS encrypted files, personal certificates and stored passwords for web sites or network resources. To avoid losing data in the future ask the Admin to make a password reset floppy disk. What the heck does that all mean? Is there already one on it set up by default?

I recently restarted my computer only to be met with an empty desktop. Also, My Start Menu is empty. I can't locate any of programs or documents.a Right clicking and going to windows explorer, I could only view : "My Computer", "Windows (C); and when I click on them, they contain few irrelevant files. In other words I can't find my personal saved documents, "my document" folder , recycle bin and all other programs. My wifi still works so the only thing I can do on my system is browse on the internet. However, I can open a microsoft office file, PDF files, if I download it directly from my email or from an external drive.I can save files on my new blank desktop.I presume this is a virus attack.

I have an mp3 file that, although it says 1 file, is comprised of 2 individual meditation tapes. These individuals are separate (FLAC) files on the CD's shipped but for whatever reason they're combined on the download into 1 mp3.Although I can copy a FLAC file to the drive and convert it to ALAC (or mp3) for the iPod the process would be much easier to separate the 1 mp3 file into its 2 component tracks. Is there a relatively easy way to do what I want?

I would like to be able to get two web pages displayed at once on my windows 7 system!! What I want to avoid is enabling the Aero Snap? I thought I overheard my IT guy say that it could be done without it? I have had problems with Aero in general. Like I wanted to do the cool thing with my files where they blow one after another through the screen like a deck of cards and you can stop to look at one or you can keep it going? How do I enable that feature? I think it makes the files like glass tiles and you can just see through them as they move along. Then I want to be able to have the two web pages at the same time on the screen? Is it true that you can not view secure pages when you use this feature?

Earlier today my computer had a rather nasty shut down with no battery and then this started. I have checked around and I have done everything I can think of to see what could be causing the screen freezes including: Checking Processes for something hogging CPU, checking event viewer system and application for excessive errors, running memory diagnostics and running in safe mode but I have had no luck. What could be slightly more alarming is that I am fairly sure that this freezing problem is actually occuring outside of Windows, in the BIOS I could still notice the freezing.

Based on the Windows 7 feature where you can press Windows Logo + Right (or left) Arrow key to maximize an application window to the right (or left) half of the screen, is there a way to maximise windows to either the top or bottom half of the screen? I know that stacking windows is one option, but that only works to the top quarter of a screen, and affects all other open windows, so that's no good unfortunately. The main app I want to use this with is putty so that I can see the full width of commands when using SSH for example.
