After done resizing and restart i can't see any D partition. so i was worried that my data will disappeared. i try to look for it but there is no Drive D even on the easeus or diskpart. the only drive appears was C Drive.i remove my Linux Mint and its swap (60gb) and thinking that i could get some more free space and do some cmd prompt windows 7 repair fixmbr thing to remove the grub. then i use partition recovery to transfer those missing data from partition D to C Drive. (appears as unformatted)i try to use partition wizard home to resize it back to 300gb. and it works. but i cant make a partition. it will disappear just like that.i also try to use diskpart, command prompt diskpard, and paragon. but also not working. the C drive was shrink but theres no unallocated space and no D drive (the new create partition). i try logical partition, primary, ntfs and fat but also not working. even the unallocated space also gone. i use almost 4 3rd party partitioning software but still got no luck with it.example:i divide 300gb into 2 partition which exist the C partition 150Gb but the other one gone. i wish theres other way than format. i also done many time. doing check disk, partition table doctor, searching for bad sector. but no errors with my hdd.
I have Windows 7 ultimate 64-bit installed on DELL desktop (Optiplex 990) i7 Core. I have two HDD: Disk 0 contains the operating system 500GB. and Disk 1 empty 1TB.
I want to make a partition on disk 1 to mirror the operating system partition and keep the remaining for data storage. I tried to do but I had the following error message: "All disks holding extents for a given volume must have the same sector size, and the sector size must be valid."
I tried to attach a screen shot but couldn't.
My System was working fine yesterday.I turned it off and came back today and tried turning it on.It took the System to Automatic Repair and got stuck there
- When ii restarted it. it said "Select a proper Boot Device"
- I Booted into BIOS and it stopped getting Detected
- I reseated the HDD and it was getting detected again
- I took it out and connected a friends system and checked
- It took a while to Start his OS.
- Then In Computer Management my hdd being shown as "931.2Gb Unallocated"
- How to get it Back..
- I have 6+ years photographs on it.
- But not aware which option should i use so i can recover my data back.
- It is a western Digital 1TB HDD
I've an 13MB unallocated partition:
And I'm thinking of recovering it to my D (logical) drive. I've did some Google-ing and found a similar post on this forum here.
However, I can't seem to do it. Whenever I right-click on my D drive, the Extend Volume is always disabled. (Means I can't click on it ).
After a reinstall of windows home premium7(GA-P55A-UD4P MB, Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 HD,Bios setup for AHCI,(( regedit for AHCI done))windows didnot allow me to format the system partition(first time Ive experinced that). Everything seems to run great, so I dont know if "101MB Unallocated" also no drive letter is ok?

View 2 Replies View RelatedYesterday I tried making partitions in my hard disk, and I failed Here's what I did:
1. run compmgmt.msc
2. Shrink C: drive
3. my hard disk' capacity shrunk from 451GB to 260GB
4. an error window appeared ("I/O device error" I think)
5. it left me no unallocated space to create partition
using compmgmt I can't extend my hdd back to 451GB, so I used MiniTool partition wizard to restore it (btw, shrinking with MT PartitionWiz resulted the same, no unallocated space)
When I run out of disk space and Disk Cleanup only removes small amount of MB, can I expand my C: partition? Because I have 200 GB unallocated space on my HDD and it's unused.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have 500 GB harddisc on my laptop with three partitions. I wanted to split the 400gb into 300 + 100 GB. So, I went to disc management and shurnk the volume to 300GB. I saw 100GB unallocated space. But, when I try to create a new partition with that unallocate space, I get a message that 'media not writable' and the 100gb remains unallocated. I have used a software called 'MiniTool Partition Wizard Home Edition'. But, it couldn't apply the changes either.
how can I create a new partition with my 100gb unallocated space.
I bought a 3TB hard drive for my gf and did a fresh install of Windows 7. When I was creating the first partition the Win7 install auto created two more volumes, both labeled as Unalloated. I thought nothing of it as I figured I would be able to merge/create my second partion with the remaining space once Windows was up and running. However, to my dimay I can not create a partition on one of those random Unallocated volumes. I've tried to delete all partition but the one that my OS is running on and I've tried to create two then merger but when I right-click on the second (first one works) volume the option t create a simple volume is greyed out.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI created a new partition and formatted it into Fat32 so my PS3 could recognize it. Now I don't need it. I now have a 30 GB and a 100 MB partition, and I don't know how to get rid of them.
View 1 Replies View RelatedNew to the forums and need some help here as I'm lost. I just got my new laptop and noticed that the C drive (O/S) was getting full and wanted to add more space. I deleted the recovery partition of 25GB so I could extend my C partition.
However, I do not have the option to expand my C drive, see the print screen link below:
I also tried using minitool partition wizard which looked to be successful but upon reboot I got an error.
Previously my machine was dual-booting Windows 7 and Ubuntu. It worked fine with no problems until I decided that I didn't use nor want Ubuntu on my machine. Disk space was getting low for my primary partition and I decided it was time to let Ubuntu go. Anyhow long story short I cleared the two partitions that Ubuntu was using through the 'disk management' tool in windows. I didn't think at the time that GRUB would be stored within these partitions and that lead to the problem of being unable to boot anything.
I made and used a repair disc via another machine and then restored the bootsector code with it. That fixed the problem of being unable to boot. Now my problem is that I'm left with around 3-4 GB of wasted space in a partition. I was wondering if this 3-4 GB could be added to my primary storage partition? I've looked everywhere in the disk manager but I can't find anything there. I'm unsure as to if there is some 3rd party software available that could fix this? That 70GB partition shall remain undisclosed.
I read up a bit on this on other threads but none of them are exactly specific to my issue.I need to expand my C partition by utilizing the free unallocated space on disk D (a separate disk) that I just made by deleting the only partition on there.I guess this is not possible through windows disk management tools but I didn't want to start downloading any 3rd party software for this before I got some guidance from here. lease take a look at the following screen and let me know if using the 238.38GB of unused (unallocated space) I can extend the C partition without having to delete that partition, having to backup the files on it or making images. I already backed up everything I had on the D partition and then went ahead and deleted it through the computer management tool.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI just used O&O's Disk Recovery 6, trying to reover from files from a drive that I had repartitioned. It works modestly well, as far as actually recovering the files, once you sort through all of the possible files that it finds, but like in the case at hand, there are over 300,000 files, and the version that I use only lets me recover 1000 at a time. I know that they have a newer version without this limit, but even so it would still require endless rummaging to find exactly what you want, because it scans the entire drive, without letting one set a search zone, and it labels all of the files with it own numbering system, rather than the files original identity.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have an external HDD (WD MyBook) that fell from a height of about 7 inches. The computer(s) will recognize it but say it's not initialized which means the boot records are fine. There are no grinding or any kind of noises at boot-up so the needle and platter seem to be ok. I started a complete recovery in EASEUS, but it's been 2 hours and it only found 54 files so far. (I know there are hundreds). Usually, on formatted drives, the number of "total files found" add up pretty quickly on this software and it is able to scan a 1TB drive in about 5 - 6 hours. This is the first time that I'm seeing such a slow reading of the drive. (Which makes me wonder again if it's physically damaged). since it's know that the best method of recovery is to start the recovery process as soon as possible, for any usage of the drive will reduce the success rate of recovery. But I'm thinking that if I just allow Windows to initialize the disk and format it with a quick format, that the only thing I'm ruining is the table, which EASEUS doesn't care about since it analyzes the disk by sectors.
