I went to System to rate my Windows 7 experience and I see that I cannot rate itbecause it says...Processor: Not AvailableMemory (RAM): Not AvailableComputer:Windows 732-bit system
I had windows vista 32 bit earlier. Then I got windows 7 professional upgrade in trial period. I didn't notice how it happened. Of course it must be my mistake. Now when i boot from windows 7 it shows 64 bit and in vista it shows 32 bit. The system asks before booting which one to choose. It's today only that I have installed but I am not facing any problem as such except that i need a product key within 30 days. Should i leave as it is or uninstall vista somehow. Would i be able to reboot my system using the 32 bit vista CD?
So I work IT at my current workplace and I was wondering if I can install and use the Dell x64 disc on a machine that was purchased with an x86 installation. These are OEM discs. I can just try it but would like to see if anyone knew about this.
As I am finishing up researching different parts for my gamer, A horrifying thought: I forgot to add in an operating system! I just hate to have to spend another 100 dollars for one but I know I have to. Any ways to get one cheaper? keep in mind that it is a gamer, so I will need to get a recent one. NOTE: I do not exactly make money as fast as other people, (I am 13) so keep in mind an extra 100 could set me back months.
I ripped my personal CD collection to .WAV as I have the space and thought it was best quality. I used WMP. Everything ripped fine for a while, the first song of each album kept 'losing' its track information. I would use the Find Album Info feature of WMP to fix this. Track info currently displays perfect in Windows Media Player Library or when browing using Windows Media Center. However, if I view the files in Windows Explorer, or use another program like Winamp to play the files (which i generally prefer), the first track of all my ripped CDs in WAV format has no track information, Unknown Album, title, even tho' it displays fine in WMP Library. I cannot EDIT the track in Windows Explorer, and I can't find a track editor freeware that supports .WAV.
I regularly download useful programs and archives etc and would like to be able to add and edit info that shows up when you hover your mouse over the file. Generally downloaded archives etc are not very descriptive and I would like to add stuff to help me remember why I downloaded it in the first place!
802.11n wireless router: is this hardware supported by all windows operating systems?I am planning to buy one for my brother, he is using windows XP. I am using Windows 7, and my brother in-law is using windows Vista. We all play WoW or Heroes of Newerth together in my bro's house. So I am wondering if this would work for all the three computers. Also my brother who has XP is using a Desktop.Does it need any Wireless adapters for it to recognize the signal from the router?
I just updated my windows. Unfortunately, when I did that, something strange happened. Now I cannot right click or delete icons on my desktop. When I right click on an icon on the desktop, I have less choices than normal (cannot rename, deletesee properties, ect). I cannot see anything in my control panel, my computer folder shows up, however there are no words, just pictures.
Installed win7 a few days ago and today when booting up all of my desktop icons are gone. everything is still in the c:/users/%user%desktop folder, but nothing will show up on the actual desktop.
I would like to rename and delete items that I D&Ded to the start menu Games menu (right panel) of W7.Rt clk does not list those options. Where can I find these .lnk shortcut files to modify them?
Is it OK to remove RAM to take some details about it - or should I not touch it unless absolutely necessary? I'm not a total newbie, but I just want to check, as I'm wanting to find out how much RAM each card has, as I have four sockets, and they are all full and I currently have 6GB of RAM (My MB supports 8GB, so I might be upgrading sometime, but I want to get some info on my current RAM, without using programs like Everest or AIDA64 (Also, I'd like to take a few photos - which is another reason for removing it..) Also, I'd take it it's just like any other part of my PC - Touching my PC to ground myself is OK in this case?
I am looking to delete the information from when I save a picture from the net. Like when you click picture save as and it opens a new box and you type in the new file name...The file name is what i'm trying to delete. I tried cleaning the browser and used ccleaner but didn't help.
I have two computers both windows 7, one has a program on it that I would like to be able to see and work on in the other computer if poss. what is the easiest way to do this?
Recently my music files [it might be with other types of files too, I haven't checked] have somehow changed the security setting so that I can't do anything with them, I can't edit the info in iTunes and I can't delete the files. About the only thing I can do is move the file. I have figured out how to fix this problem one by one with each file (going into properties, security tab, and changing the permissions), however, I've only been able to do this one by one and with each new file the same problem persists. Is there any way I can change some sort of setting or something that allows me to have full control over all files? I am the sole user of the computer, therefore I am the administrator.
I was trying to get into a hidden subfolder to delete a file from a old program. It asked for admin person's. I hit Ok and it look about 10min for windows to update the folder. The problem is that after that now all my folders in my profile are gone. My music, pictures, and everything. I rebooted and loged back in but they are still all gone. How can I my profile folders back? I know there is just something I need to uncheck. I can see that all the information is still in my laptop because checking my HD space I see that nothing was deleted since I have over 50gigs of music.
Although it works fine on Foxfire, from time to time on IE, when I enter information in search/entry boxes, it all of a sudden prevents from continuing to type & make it very hard(like very slow to recover) after that to finish what I want to type in these boxes or shuts down the window completely(not responding).
After deleting atdmt, IE9 stopped remembering all my logon information for all web pages. I have search the web for a solution but have not fixed the problem. I created a new user profile and it then remembered the logon info. Is there a way to copy all my old desktop icons and settings to my new user profile?
I login as John (account type = Administrator) on my Windows 7 Home Premium. My computer System Name is HomePC.When I launched the "System Information" via msinfo32.exe, why does it show the "User Name" as HOMEPCuser instead of HOMEPCJohn
Anyhow, my wife has a few facebook accounts and to move from one account to another she would just click on the login box and it would show all the accounts so that she would just click on which one she wanted to use. That worked great on her old laptop (windows 7, 32 bit), but on this new window 7 laptop it acts really strange.Sometimes she clicks in the login box and all the accounts are there so all she has to do is click login. Then the next time maybe just one or two of the accounts showIt is really random and doesn't seem to have a pattern.I checked her saved passwords and all three accounts are in there.
I don't know what it is but Windows 7 doesn't recognize my graphics card for some reason....... I have scanned several times for driver updates, still nothing seems to fix my problem.I don't know what causes this, dxdiag displays everything else properly as far as I know. [code]
For some reason my WMP12 has stopped autofinding album information when i put the cd in and I have to right click on the cd and 'Find Album Info' manually for each cd... It used to do this automatically, and even after searching the settings and options panels I can't get it to work again.
I have ripped many cds to my laptop using Windows Media Player 12 and WAV audio format. This seemed to go smoothly but afterwards i noticed that a lot of my CDs have all BUT the first track tagged. I know how to change the info in WMP itself but this doesn't actually change the tag in windows explorer. After ripping, the correct folder on my hard drive will be made with all the tracks on the CD in the right place and every FILE named correctly. However, the first track will be labled "unkown" for each column in my music folder (album name, artist, composer, etc) while every track after that will have each column labled and labled correctly. I try to edit the tag manually from windows explorer but it wont let me edit anything but the actual file name.this is frustrating for syncing my music to my android phone as i have a lot of albums with the first track missing and then a huge unknown list with about 400 songs that are only labled "unknown". i really dont want to have to re-rip all these albums again through a different program or not. is their another solution? can i re-tag tracks manually in explorer so they will stay tagged correctly for good? anybody know why WMP does this?
This has been baffling me for at least a month now, my PC will randomly start to slow down after a few hours (2-4) of being used. This began to happen randomly and after no new software or updates where installed. So far I have tried to take off all my overclocks, run a CPU test for 24hours (stable) and all the defrags and disk cleanups that I could be bothered to run. Worst thing is this started happening a day before I was going to make a restore point. All my system info is on my profile.
EDIT: I forgot to mention where the slowdowns occur, they include programs taking a good 5 seconds to open and more confusingly sites take a good 30-40 seconds to load when shortly after boot it takes less than a second.I have checked my network usage and system resource usage and both are within their normal ranges.
