Automatic Updating Of Album Info On Rip In WMP12?
Dec 29, 2010
For some reason my WMP12 has stopped autofinding album information when i put the cd in and I have to right click on the cd and 'Find Album Info' manually for each cd... It used to do this automatically, and even after searching the settings and options panels I can't get it to work again.

Is anyone else having problems with WMP12 acting weird when playing .MOV files?
Just try one of these here: NASA - NASA High Definition Video
When skipping ahead in the video WMP encounters an error for me.
Also why is there no association of .MOV with WMP on the web? I don't want to have to download QuickTime to watch apple trailers when WMP supposed plays .MOV files (albeit not very good it seems)

You see, something is messed up in the WMP file, it's not saving my playlists, so every time i want to hear something I need to go to the Music folder, copy from there the songs to the playlist that won't save after I exit the program, I don't know what messed up there, tried to uninstall it but the uninstall fail every time if it's with a program or from the windows uninstall program, installing WMP11 failed too and deleting them with SHIFT + Delete failed too.

As I go thru my library, I occasionally notice that I will have doubles of a lot of my files and go through each one and delete the extras. For some reason now there are way to many folder this has happened to for editing each and every one. why does this do this and how can I fix now that there are way too many to do individually?

Ok so this sort of confuses me here. After a fresh install of windows 7 I am able to play mp3s for a while.. When in a explorer window of a music folder i chose the built in button to play all. After I hit this button only one song came up on my playlist. After trying to choose a different song i am unable to play any mp3s It says that the player might not support this filetype or might not support the codec that was used to compress the file. These are standard MP3's that were ripped in WMP11 on my vista machine.
I have tried to uninstall and reinstall wmp but this has not resolved the issue. I have also dugg in my google resources and read something about a registry error. this instructed me to typw in a command line run as an administrator "regsvr32 wmp.dll"
I have run out of options and I do not want to do a full reinstall as that is the step that i seem to notice everyone else doing.

Ive had this working perfectly until two nights ago.Under Windows 7 HP 64 bit im trying to play back my HD .mov files and while WMP12 will play them without reporting any errors, the screen is a mess. Lots of colour bars, squares etc. Even the control bar is covered in this visual mess. The files themselves are fine and will play perfectly in VLC, MPC and in fact any other media player i have installed.

Windows 7 professional, Windows Media Player 12. When an album of mp3 tracks, maybe downloaded from amazon, or ripped from a Cd, is saved to the 'My music' folder, WMP12 automatically includes it in the library and it shows in the library pane with cover art and everything looks and plays correctly. Trouble is, the next time I run WMP after it's been closed for shutdown or whatever, the album is gone from the library, or at least it doesn't show anywhere. It won't reappear if I force a library update even though the folder is scanned. 'My music' is the only folder I have designated for WMP to check into the library, and that's where all the mp3s are, including the ones it won't show. The only albums it shows are those I imported when Windows 7 was run for the first time on my machine. Since then it does the 'now you see it now you don't trick' every time I rip or download a track.

I've tried googling it and it comes up with a wealth of almost-the-same questions, but none exactly answer mine. it's a basic "is it possible" one.I have Win 7 Home Prem 64 bit and use WMP12 for organising my MP3s. My car has a USB socket on it which allows it to read Mp3s from a flash drive, and also M3U playlists which reference the files using relative filepaths. All good.
The flash drive is a 32GB model, and i have about 18GB of music i want to put on it - which works fine, the auto-sync feature copies all my music to the drive (took a long time the first time i must admit)but I also have some playlists which I would like to copy to the drive. Is there a way (like in itunes) where you can make the drive contain maybe a separate folder in the root called playlists or, even just a bunch of M3U files in the root, which mirror those in my library?
I'm hoping it's not impossible and can be done in WMP12 because it can in other media players - but I can't find any settings for it, can't drag-and-drop a playlist onto the drive and the built in help file seems to be one page telling me the difference between auto and manual sync.

basically as it say's in the title WMP12 now opens maximized every time I play a MP3 file. It used to always just play the song and be minimized. Its really annoying every time you click for a MP3 to play it goes back to this maximized window.

WMP 12 has automatically created a playlist for, it seems, every album in my library. It displays these in the central details pane when I highlight playlists in the navigation pane. This makes it difficult to find the playlists which I created myself (eg those containing a selection of tracks from different albums or a link to a radio station). The ones I really want to find get lost amongst all the albums. Is there a way to get rid of the 'album playlists' which WMP created, or to have them not show? The same issue occurs on both my main PC and my laptop. I don't see the point of these 'album playlists'. When I want to play an album I can look at the albums view of the library and play the album from there. I tried deleting them but they were created again the next time I restarted WMP.

How can I stop WMP12 from opening the last file that was played when I load up a new instance of WMP12? Say I watch a video, close WMp, I click the WMP icon to load the player up, it wants to continue playing the video where I left off. I disabled it before a long time ago, but just reformatted and its doing it again and I cant remember how I did it!

I recently installed Windows 7 Ultimate x86 on my Dad's HP Compaq Presario. PC has a 2.2 Gig AMD processor (processor is a 64bit but had glitches when I tried the Windows 7 64bit OS) w/2GB DDR2 Mem. All drivers are the originals from when the PC had Win XP Home on it, except for what ever Windows 7 swapped out on install. WMP12 will only play the supplied demo video and that appears as a duo image in a split screen with playback in black and white. Plays ALL audio fine, even CD's. Will Not play any Video DVD's. Installed Power DVD 11 and same problem. Windows 7 say's something about not enough memory installed and close running programs to free up memory. All programs are closed except WMP12. Have increased page file size to 1024low/8192high and every thing seems to work fine except WMP12 & PowerDVD video

WMP is showing music library at opening, but it won't load any album art. It's a bit complicated to explain the problem exactly, so I will post some screenshots that you can get what I'm saying.
1) I open WMP, and at it's set to Library => Musc => All music, but it wont' load any album art. I see album name, artist, and everything else, but no album art. I tried to wait, but even after hour or so everything's still same.
2) I go to album submenu (or any ohter), and than it shows album art normally.
3) After that, I go back to All music, and then I can see album art there, as well.

I know they are hidden and i have a lot of duplicates and what no and want to have a good clean up and possibly grab as much artwork as possible without going to google and going through the sordid take of finding them again. Now i know mine are all hidden and not embedded because a while ago i was using Recuva and did a full scan of hard drives and the first info it pulled up was the folders for the music with the album art showing but of course no music. Is this possible, after looking on google, i just seem to find people saying about un-hidding normal folders.

Only problem is that when a new visualizaation is selected, it fails to take. I especially liked the "Batttery" series used in WMP 9 . But when I try to select it in WMP12, there is a non-functional scroll window displayed that will not allow you to see, let alone select the version of Battery that I want to see.

I know this is not very important in the grand scheme of things, but it irritates the crap out of me. When the player is in "Now Playing" mode, using the album art visualization, is it possible to make the album art bigger? When in full screen mode the album art is but a tiny postage stamp on the desktop. I would like to make it larger so it's easier to see. Is there a way to enlarge it, or did the programmers in Redmond not think there would ever be a need to actually be able to see and enjoy the album art?

I'm having very frustrating issues with my music library and trying to organize it to have the right album artwork. Here's the scenario below. Typical scenario1. Under the library tab every single option is unchecked, specifically "Retrieve Additional Information from the Internet" = UNCHECKED2. Browse to a folder containing 45 mp3 files. 44 are from one album. The last one is from another band with no album artwork. So it should display the generic music note symbol when I play it in WMP 12 correct? Well it DOES do this if I open it up first. HOWEVER IF3. First file opened in WMP creates a folder and AlbumArt jpeg.4. Subsequent files opened in that folder now use these jpegs displaying the wrong image for the mp3 file. Here's the thing, I do not want to keep occurring. WHY is it happening.ow do I make it stop most importantly of all? my media library littered with jpegs, I like my files to be portable with any art included within the file.NOTE: I've even tried making the entire Music folder "Read Only" which I think is very extremely and a higly retarded "solution" but at this point I'm so fed up I'm willing to try anything. However the "Read Only" option is a bunch of sh*t. It doesn't work. The folder.jpg is still being created by WMP and Windows 7 after I play a song within that folder.

I have removed all the album art (pictures) using mp3tag and now there are no images showing in map3tag. I have also deleted VLC player's album art cache. I also made sure that no folders were hidden having those images by showing system protected hidden folders and all. But I don't know from where vlc again get the album art. I don't know where those images are. I removed them from mp3tag, mp3tag does not show them anymore.
They are not hidden anywhere, I checked everywhere. I cleared VLC album art cache which was hidden earlier and also run ccleaner. If I select vlc to load album art manually in privacy setting under interface. Than it does not show. But my concern is that when i have nowhere those images in my pc from where vlc get them. I want to see album arts but not for all songs, few are bad looking. How to find out where are those images.

I'm running Win 7 x64 with 32bit WMP12. I have FLAC showing with metadata and can play files locally. I have a Naim NDX Media Streamer and can not get FLAC to play through it via WMP - other files will. I understand that this may be connected to x64 not being compatible, so I have the x32 version running via a short cut to my desktop.WMP shows my streamer but when I try to play a file it just constantly looks for the streamer and never finds it. Any ideas where I might be going wrong?
PS: It works perfectly well with JRiver / My River or n Stream via my ipad. That with FLAC or .wav etc. So it appears to be related directly to WMP.
