Print To PDF File - Could Not Open Printer / Check Selection
Dec 12, 2012
Printing to file from Quicken to PDF worked in XP by saving it in PDF but not in win 7 using "quicken pdf printer" as printer field, and it comes back with "could not open printer, check printer selection" how to set up step by step.
Got windows 7 on new computer and need to install a printer = generic print to file, generic text. It installs but does not print when try a test page or document. get error message "can not open" IT goes through all the steps correctly and shows up as a printer but doesn't work. Tried the trouble shooter but nothing.
Is it possible to print just a selection from a Live Mail message? I have highlighted a section, but print options don't allow for Selection to be checked (actually, it is a radio button, but is dimmed). On printing, of course, the entire e-mail message prints with headers and footers, and this is not what I want. I am getting tired of copying and pasting into Word to get a printout.
having moved once and having add and removed computers from my home network, along with other changes, I now have a cluttered Printer Selection Window, by which I mean the window that pops up when I want to print a document. I have five versions of a Brother printer and four versions of an HP printer, and only one of each is actually good. How do I clean up that window by getting rid of those obsolete references that no longer work? It's ridiculous that they don't simply disappear when I select one of them as the default.
All of a sudden after turning on my Windows 7 based notebook this morning, when I select a folder or file with the left mouse button in Windows Explorer, all folders and files from the first to the one being pointed at will be selected. The files & directories stay selected. Double clicking will attempt to open the lot. Very annoying behaviour. Right click on the desired item gets me out of trouble. ANy selected files are deselected and I can then use right click option menu's Open item.
The problem I believe is that on the change sharing options for different networkprofile page (Control Panel>Network sharing) I cannot turn on the Network discovery and File saring options. click on the two enabling buttons forTurn on File DiscoveryndTurn on File & printer sharing I then find the save changes tab greyed out
I would like to know if there is a way I can test if a specific port is open on an IP address and if my PC can connect to that port? How do you do this from Command Prompt? 'telnet iport' does not seem to work since it just says 'telnet' is not recognized as an internal or external command.
I do not want to use a website to do this, since they will test if they can make a connection from their servers to the ip port in question, not if the port between my IP address and the ip in question is open.
I know about NMAP and Netcat, but don't know how that works.
I used to have that annoying check for disk consistency thing when you boot up so I just let it go and afterwards now programs like Itunes Rhapsody and some other programs just wont open. I click on them and the mouse pointer goes into loading icon like its about to open but then nothing opens.
Whenever I try to print a .pdf file, it instead wants to save it as a .prn file. Every pdf file, every time. I cannot print. This may have happened because a couple weeks ago, I tried to save a particular .pdf file as a .prn file, did not know what I was doing, and now .prn seems to be the default setting. I cannot figure out how to get it corrected.
What happened to SFC in Windows 7? This was a convienent utility in WinXP for checking and comparing the correctness of original files in an active XP OS with the original files installed.
i have 3 desktop..two PC is having a win7 32bit and the other one is 64bit..i install the printer LX-300+II(dot matrix) on the 64bit win7...then of course the three desktop is on a network...the 32bit win7 is the admin..then the 64bit win7 and the 32bit admin can print on the dot matrix..but the other 32bit cannot..both of those 3 desktop are shared..workgroup name is same..sharing properties is same for both 32bit..and both 32bit can connect to the printer and can detect..when i tried to print its just qeue and comes with the word "spooling"..but when i tried printing on a laser printer it prints..but on the dot matrix it cannot print...
ways i tried:
1.check the port/ethernet the UTP cables plug out plug in and wait like around 20 secs. then connect again. 2.reinstall the driver on the 32bit that doesnt print. 3.remove device then add printer again. 4.did a windows update. 5.check if same workgroup. 6.check if shared and with same location and can access both 3 desktop. 7.check the permissions. 8.restart the computer. 9.troubleshooting the printer. 10.make sure there's a network connection.
IP address doesn't have because its a USB port and not suported by the OS..3 desktop on a network...two 32bit win7 one win7 64bit.32bit and 64 bit can print on the dot matrix and laser printer but the other 32bit cannot print on the matrix but can print on the laser..when printing its just qeue with spooling..
I got a new computer powered by Windows 7 which was upgraded to Win 7 Pro. I have it attached to a Xerox Phaser 8400 printer. The printer will not print in color when i use the word pad or Print Master software. It's own self test it prints color so I assume there is a setting I can't find.
I've just taken delivery of a new windows 7 PC, with i5-2500k/8gb/SSD/1TB HDD, Asus p8z68-v lx motherboard. Everything was going fine with setting up until it came to printers.I have 3 printers connected - Brother HL2030 laser, HP Photosmart D6160 and Epson Stylus photo R2400 - and NONE of them will work. All three came up with "your device is installed correctly etc etc" message. I can't print documents or even a test page. I've downloaded and installed Brother's W7 driver - zilch. HP site says you lose most of the functionality of toollbox etc but "the windows 7 default driver should work" - it doesn't. Likewise the Epson. I've tried 3 or 4 times to reinstall them all, deleting each first from the control panel, and absolutely no joy.I'm sure I must be doing something wrong but can't figure
I recently got a new computer with Windows 7 and installed the printer driver for the HP 1018 printer, and it prints from word, excel, pdf, etc., but it will not print from the Internet. It just prints blank pages.
Suddenly (two years since Windows 7 was installed), the printer will not print a document. However, printer (H-P Laser 6P) WILL print test page. The steps I followed are:
I have installed a HP office jet 6700 on my network my laptop Windows 7 X 32 can see the printer and print. However when I tried to install the printer on my wife's laptop I cannot get it to connect at all. The printer can be seen on the network however why I try to print nothing goes to queue. I have check spooler service and it is on.We use to have an old HP photosmart but it stopped working. I bought a HP5510 and had the same problem now I have same issue with the HP6700 and off course HP support cannot explain why this is happening.
Computer #1 - Dual boots with XP Pro SP3 and Windows 7 RC1 7100 with Konica Monolta 2400W printer attached via USB and shared.
Computer #2 - Windows XP Pro SP3.
Computer #2 Sucessfully installed networked printer and prints normally when Computer #1 is booted to XP. When computer #1 is booted to Windows 7 it automatically detects and installs networked printer once network was correctly setup but gets error message when trying to print.
HP Deskjet printer won't print with USB on new PC. Prints fine with parallel cable on old PC. Why won't it print now with a new PC using USB connection? I have a new USB cable.
My HP930c printer won't print in colour. Was working OK till I elected to print something in black and white. I have ticked the colour box under Preferences and clicked OK. I have tried two brand new HP original colour cartridges and still it won't print a test page or a document in colour.
HP deskjet 2050 print/scan/copy (not an all-in-one; about two months old.New color cartridge installed and alignment page is ok.Greyscale is turned OFF.Only get black& white prints.....
Is there a way to do the equivalent of a system file check on a BIOS? I just installed a BIOS update on my friend's new (Win7, 64bit) Compaq CQ57, and it occurred to me that checking it - maybe running a checksum on it? - would be a good idea. I'm going to install an Ubuntu partition on this machine. I can't find it now, but I seem to recall running across something about running a checksum on a BIOS from a Linux OS.
When I click on that it takes me to the same box again. At the top of the box it says "SSVagent.exe" I googled that and it seems to be some type of malware?? I ran a full scan using my Kaspersky Security software and nothing was found. I also cannot print to my network printer from the 2 laptops that are connected to it or from the main desktop. I tried using system restore but although it goes back to a previous day, the problem still exists. The only way I can run any program is if I right click and choose "Run as administrator." Then if I'm on internet explorer, for example, after I clicked run as administrator, every time I want to change websites or screens, I get that pop-up box asking me to choose a program. Once I close that box out then the webpage loads.
I've recently updated from windows xp to windows 7 professional.I cannot get the cd print facility on the printer to work.epson are not able to provide a solution apart from buying a new printer.
