I really like the new up-scaling ability built into the latest version of PowerDVD9 Ultra.It really works well.
Is there any way to tell Media Center to use it as the default DVD player when I go to play a stored DVD on my hard drive?
Power DVD9 is already my default player for my BluRay isos. I would really like to use it for my SD DVDs also.
I wanted to ask if it is possible to set Windows media player to open as the default player inside media center.The reason that I ask this is that I find media center sound is very low quality. I am using it inside windows 7 ultimate X64. I also use Media Browser and have set it to use media player as an external player but it loses some functionality after something is played I have to restart media center and media Browser to play anything again because it will go back to menus but not play anything untill
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhenever I play a video file (.wmv, mpg, etc) or audio (.mp3), MP starts out at the last size it "remembered." But when it opens the file and starts playing it, the window gets really small, like a default size and makes it difficult and annoying to re-size it to an appropriate size. Most annoying is MP becomes smaller such that the volume control on it disappears to just being a toggle for mute. Is there any way to change the default size of MP?

On Blue Ray disks (only) I don't get the chapter information displayed, allowing me to choose the required movie or chapter, nor do I have subtitles displayed. Sometimes it's displaying a glimps of them indicating where they should be on the screen but not solid allowing you to make your selection. Sound and video are ok. using nvidia 9600m on Vaio. anybody ?

I've successfully played a Blue Ray DVD but partway through the movie the computer just completely restarts.I think I've narrowed it down to specifically either a Blue Ray problem or a PowerDVD issue. There is no error when the computer restarts, it just does. This has not happened on any other application that I have run on the computer either.

This program was working until I encountered a small problem and was advised to uninstall the program and then re-install it. It did re-install but as mentioned in my opening statement the program will not open. All my other desktop icons open their respective programs.

View 4 Replies View Related I am considering the purchase of a NetGear ReadyNas Ultra 2 Plus for my home network.At the present time, I have a file server that is about 6 years old running an old pair of 200GB hard drives.While these drives are not mirrored, they are synchronized multiple times per day using Robocopy.I've reached the point where I don't want to manage and maintain a server (windows or linux) to provide simply storage on my network. By going with a NAS device, I can eliminate OS patches and updates and having to maintain another device. The NAS device will consume less power than my server, and take less physical space.And these NAS devices have DNLA built-in, so streaming from my PS3 and 360 should be simple. And the particular version of this NAS device offers iSCSI target support...which i could take advantage of in my virtual lab at home.
I've found the Ultra 2 Plus for $379 from Amazon.This model has the dual core atom processor, which is advertised and reviewed to provide around 30% more performance than the single core atom offering.. I'm planning to add a pair of 2TB Seagate Barracude Green 64MB Cache and run them in the mirrored Netgear X-RAID2 setup. This provides a mechanism so that I can actually replace the 2TB drives later with larger drives without having to backup and restore data to the device.Any particular reason you guys can think of to say this is a bad idea? With both drives, I'm looking at $619 for a small, silent device, which allows hot-swap drives, easy sharing and support for my 360/PS3 and it provides 2TB of mirrored storage space.
I would realy like to install Nero 6.6.0.18 Ultra Edition on my new Laptop running Windows 7 Professional (32bit). I have no problem paying for a newer version but 6.6.0.18 is the newest version that will run with DVD Shrink. Can I install and run it in compatability mode. I want to run WindowsXP (32 bit) as a guest so in regards to the installation/setup of the OS the following questions arise: 1a)Does VirtualBox "look" at the actual motherboard and peripherals, ie my gtx660 and asus p8z77-pro, or will it create generic video/mobo/audio/lan/wireless "hardware" for windowsXP to detect. If its "created" where/how do i get the drivers for this? 1b)Will running updates for WinXP (ie patches/hotfixes) or any of the other programs installs "mess" with how the virtualbox operates? 2a)In terms of creating the "storage" for the virtual OS. Should i have made a seperate partition exclusively for this virtual box? I have a 2TB HD which i have split into 1TB partitions when I installed win7. 2b)What happens when I end my guest session in virtualbox, after I install the OS and games? where does that data get saved? 3)I understand that when I run winXP through virtualbox, the ram I set aside in the setup will be unavail for my win7 to use (while i run virtualbox of course). So I have been trying to uninstall it to no avail. I've read some other posts online and they are very technical for me to follow. Anybody have a solution they can put forth in layman's terms. I'm not afraid of going in the Registry; I just need to know exactly what to do to fully uninstall this program! Then ... I promise I'll use Windows Media Center to play my DVDs!

And I have Foobar (portable) as the default program for .mp3.Usually the icons on .mp4, .avi, .mp3 files get updated with the icons of the assigned media players.But on this PC it's not working. They're still the same icons as if WMP was the default player.Does it have to do with the Standard user account? (Because on other PCs I run from an Admin account and I don't have such problems.)

When I try to install windows 7 from XP, it says that the PROMISE TECH ultra IDE driver is required. It then offers me the option to browse to it to conitnue my update.
Unfortunately I can not find any Vista or Windows 7 drivers for this piece of hardware. Its rather surprising as it was quite a popluar laptop at the time, very well known for its power.
Can i just skip this stage, and the drive still work? Or does anyone know of a solution? The laptop is 6 years old - surely someone must have updated theirs with vista and must have a windows 7 compatible driver?
I installed VM ware installed XP mode English thinking I could change locale well no dice, So I was wondering can I install another XP mode but this time in Japanese, I don't have to worry about licenses since I have like 12 copies of XP, Reason is that I have programs that work only in XP English and others that only work in the Japanese Unicode, As for info App Locale is not an option since it doesn't boot the program, Mind you I dont need to run them at the same time.

View 2 Replies View RelatedMy issue is that i would like to be able to have media center audio play only through my tv and not through my pc main speaker system, tv is hooked through hdmi output on graphics card, speaker system through 5.1 output on motherboard. I have tried the audiorenderupdater extender but all that does is set default audio out for entire system, so when itunes is used or game is played on computer audio goes through tv. I would like all system noises, media player, and game audio to run through pc speakers and simultaneously all media center audio (recorded/live tv) to go through tv audio, so i can watch sports center while playing mass effect and have audio from sportscenter on tv audio from mass effect on pc speakers.
Also is there a way to separate media player's actions from media center's. For example if you are laying music in media player and then open media center and play a tv show, music playback stops, not a big deal just like media player better than itunes and would like to be able to watch tv in media center while playing music in media player rather than itunes
