I am new here and I have a question that I cant find the answer to anywhere on the internet! Can I set up a home network between my new Windows 7 starter netbook, whose system language is Spanish and my old Windows Vista Home Premium laptop, whose system language is English?
Yesterday my computer crashed, but I got it working quite quickly again. But when I was to write to my friends in a chat (I am swedish) I realized i could not write any swedish letters. And all the 1-9 shift functions were moved or gone too. It has taken me a while to figure out where the functions are now (like ? ! @ etc). So anyway I thought that the input language must be acting wierd. and when I were to look what language i had on, there were none. No input languages. None. I cant add, because there are no languages to add. They all are gone.
I hawe such kind of problem, sometimes when i swich betwen languages in ICQ, Skype, Word and etc... in my language bar appear new lenguages, CH, KO, JP. You can see this on 1-st screen. I try to delete those in Text Servises and Input Languages but there are only my 3. (screen 2)I try to watch in Registry Editor, there is only default, and English ;( (screen 3)Mby I need to delete CH, KO and etc language pack's. Screen 1 Screen 2 Screen 3
I have Windows 7 and use Windows Media player. I put a cd in the other day and the thing played and ripped just fine, but everything on it like the song titles, artist, and album name was in a different language! It was a normal Van Halen cd, nothing weird. I have no idea why it came up as whatever that was. It saved onto my pc like that too. Then today I went to create something in Paint, and many of my downloaded fonts were gone. I opened openoffice and a few showed up, but many of the others were missing from there as well. I went into the font folder itself, and half of them were lightly greyed out and had other languages on them. If I clicked on one. then across the bottom showed that this font was 'designed for:' Thai, this one for Arabic, this one for Japanese, and so on. Well when I downloaded them they were in English, and working just fine last time I tried. If I open the font, it displays in English.I go to the clock, language and region, then I go to region and language, then to keyboards and languages and there is nothing there! there are no options to remove languages at all.
possible to install foreign languages on Windows 7 Professional, which I recently purchased and installed. Is it really true that I now need to purchase something else to be able to install language packs? If so, what?I'm not one to go on a rant against Microsoft and even usually defend the company against the charges of fanatic MAC users, but if it's really true that I now need to buy something else, well, I'll be very angry. Language packs were available in the home version of Vista, for instance, so why would I, as a consumer, think that they wouldn't be in W Professional? The idea that ordinary Americans, for instance, only need English, is unbelievably retrograde in this day and age. I'm an academic who really needs to be able to type in foreign languages for my work.
My question is how do I copy subtitles from a dvd to my computer but I only want the subtitles which come up when something is spoken in a language apart from English. Like what happens when you play a dvd normally.
2 days ago my keyboard is fine an yesturday my keyboard setting has changed somehow.., when ever i put my email i can't get "at" sign on my keyboard, so i have to press shift and 2 to get "at" sign, I can't even change my input language settings..
I have a folder filled with photos and they are all titled in different languages. For some reason, all of the Chinese characters appear as normal boxes...Here's the interesting part, it ONLY happens in explorer... I can see all Asian characters fine in my web browsers, but when I copy them over to name a file or folder, they turn into boxes.
I have this brand new HP laptop with a pre-installed Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit. The problem is the language is "Italian" and I need to change it to english. I've read some articles on the net and it seems that I have to pay for an upgrade or buy the ultimate edition to have the english language pack. Guys is there a way to change the language without "paying" a cent? let's say a workaround or something.
I have a peculiar issue where I would need to have "Network and Sharing Center" open to be able to see that my my laptop's wireless connection. I would see the signal bar and also see the dreaded red x.Even when I have it open, I can see it refreshing each second; like its losing connection and reestablishing. My internet connection is working and has no issues.
Network and Sharing Center - Open Network and Sharing Center - Open and refreshed Network and Sharing Center - Closed
I'm having difficulty trying to get my new Windows 7 pc set up to share files across my existing home (wired) network which consists of 1 desktop pc running WinXP and 1 laptop running WinXP.I want the 'C' drive on each of the 3 computers to be shared. I've had the 2 Windows XP computers set up and working like this for several years without a problem but I can't seem to get the 'C' drive on the Windows 7 computer to do the same. All 3 computers have the same workgroup name and none of them require passwords to log on to Windows. There are no problems with the firewalls on any of the machines. On the Windows 7 PC when I right click on the 'C' drive and select the 'Sharing' tab, I have set this up to be shared and when I click on the 'Advanced Sharing' button there is a tick in the 'Share this folder' box, the 'Share name' is 'C'. If I then click on the 'Permissions' button, this shows a 'Group or user name' 'Everyone' and this group has Full Control, Change and Read boxes ticked. As far as I can see there is nothing more I can do.
However from my Windows XP computer, when I go to My Network Places and double click on the icon for the Windows 7 'C' drive, I get the message "\Computername is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions. The network path was not found"I've subsequently set up a sub folder (of the Windows 7 'C' drive) for sharing by right clicking on the folder, choosing 'Share with' and then selecting 'Specific people'. I then set up a group called 'Everyone' with read/write permissions. Now I can navigate to this folder from my 2 WinXP computers.
My rig uses a Centrino Advanced-N 6230 wireless mini half-card. It reports the correct name except within the wireless network list. Instead of 6230 it reports 6320. I searched the registry to see if I could find the error, but nothing found. It's only a nuisance, and a minor one at that.
Unable to see home network computers in Windows Explorer Network screen.
I have a home network with 2 laptops and 1 desktop. The desktop I use as a "file server" in that all work done on the laptops is stored to the desktop. The desktop computer name is HAL. One laptop is fine and sees the network. The other just stopped seeing it; rebooted the laptop; rebooted HAL; did a number of refreshes without any luck. I opened EXCEL and found a worksheet that was listed that I knew was saved on HAL. Was able to open the file and when I tried the SAVE AS I could navigate through all of HAL just as normal. Went to Windows Explorer and still no HAL listed as a COMPUTER on the NETWORK. I have a internet connection so I know I am making it to the router at least. And when I check NETWORK AND SHARING CENTER it shows an active home network. The laptop is running Windows 7 Home Premium Service Pack 1 Build 7601.
This sounds really noobie of me but is it possible to improve local network transfer speed by adding a 2nd network card. I was planning to connect one exclusively for lan transfers and another one hooked to a separate wireless router.
Right now only a maximum of 3 users can stream SD videos off the PC before it gets a little choppy.
The pc in question runs on windows 7 and it's board has built in gigabit, I happen to have a spare gigabit card.
Home network with Wifi and ethernet. Using 3x Notebooks and 3x workstations. One of the workstations (W7 ultimate) keeps changing between Public and Home. When this happens, the internet connection dies. I cannot see other workstations either when on public network. Workstation using wifi. Does the same on cable. When it changes to Public, it disconnects from the internet and I cannot get to the router even though it has the workstation has an IP(DHCP or static). Default gateway and subnet is correct. TCP v4 is being used and nothing else is enabled.
Why is this happening? - I have tried DHCP as well as Static addresses - Reconfigured NIC(Netgear WG311T), uninstalled and reinstalled it. - Removed Wifi connection and re-added it. - Changed auth type, encryption type and keys to connection
Have I covered everything? The only thing different is that I installed a new router - Duo Plus 300wr. It cannot be the router because all the other notebooks connect to it wireless and so does my iPad, Android device and tablet...so it rules that out?
My problem is windows 7 hangs and freeze when access 2003 server Enterprise edition. This is not a small network, one of the biggest network.i have doubt on individual users on domain. before 2 months we had department wise users mean, for example Accounts@domainname.local. But after we created the individual users like john@domainname.local to all users. this is i believe the cause of problem. When we acess the server via the software it freezed for 5 seconds and then repeat to normal state. And after some time it hangs for 2 minutes.
I disabled my network adapter then restarted and now the adapter is no longer showing up in my network connections. How in the world do I get it back? I have looked at other options (like under the registry which was suggested on a couple of places). I have never seen this happen before. I even reinstalled my drivers and still nothing. How do I enable it again?
how do i keep microsft explorer from trying to surf and find other providers and stay on one instead of showing every provider it can connect too ant2twon@yahoo.com
Today, I managed to redecorate my bedroom; where my computer sat on top of a shaky, wooden desk. That desk is now gone, caput, and replaced by a much bigger, sturdier and prettier glass replacement. Before I dissasembled the computer to re-decorate, I was able to browse the internet at ease. There were no problems at all...However, after the new desk was setup - and all wires replaced in their correct slots, I find that I am unable to connect to the internet, or even the house's network! For the past year, I have been wired to the router using a RTL8168C(P)/8111C(P) Family PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet NIC. It was plugged into an extension cord, in my room, into the Ethernet port in the back of my computer. Downstairs, it's twin was situated no less than 2 feet away from the router - plugged into the first port. Now, when I boot up the computer, the network notification presents the following message: "Unidentified Network. No network access", and sometimes presents a yellow ! next to it. So, I am reduced to typing on my mother's laptop - which has no problems connecting to the network.I am able to use the ipconfig /release command, but unable to use the /renew - it hangs in the command prompt, then tells me that the DHCP server cannot be located. The IP, beforehand, was reverted to 169.254.223.117 - before all of this, I was 192.168.0.5?
I have a linksys usb600n (v2) using the Windows 7 driver from linksys. It installs and is displayed correctly in Device Manger - BUT it doesn't appear in the Network and Sharing Center as an adapter. This same device and driver were previously working just fine in this system - but I rebuilt the OS (clean install) after testing a number of security products out.
The initial install went fine - no problems that I remember - just plug in the adapter and install the drivers obtained from Linksys (Ver 3.00.01.0). I tried the same thing on the re-build and it looks fine until I go into the Network Center and can't set up wireless networking since the adapter does not appear.
SIW shows TWO (2) linksys USB adapters under Hardware/Network Adapters, but does not show the network adapters in the Network Information section.
Installed Windows 7 on two home-network computers. Everything appeared to be good, including networking, but I could not access printers (linked through each computer) with the opposite computer. Windows update offered an update for the Broadcom 802.11n network adapter, but when I installed the update I completely lost the network.
I had to revert to the old driver in order to reastablish the network. But the printers still are not recognized. The network adapter on the secondary computer is a Linksys WMP300N. I did try turning the router off for ten seconds with the updated driver but that had no effect.
I want to add additional icons to the 'system32pnidui.dll' file. That's where you pick which icon you want to represent the active named network in the Network And Sharing Center. I did a search in this forum on 'network icons' but didn't find anything. Aside from all the permissions restrictions what app can be used and what kind(s) of files will work in W7? I have lots of .png images that I would like to use if they will work. Lenovo T500 W7 Pro-64 Current Updates.
New windows 7 Home Premium desktop that can print when the printer is directly connected but can't print when the printer is connected to an XP pro pc. It can see it but we're getting a "driver cannot be found on the network" flag.
Recently when I try and connect to the internet my wireless connection network says it is an unidentified network with no internet access. This never happened before.
Okay so I've installed windows and everything is working okay except i can't connect my laptop to my computer via LAN because it won't let me change it to a HOME NETWORK. It is just gets set to an unidentified Network. any possible suggestions?
Also I've look at removing this from the services but its not running it when i go under task manager, unless it somewhere else.
How to change network type to private network in networking and sharing centre with out showing UI to the user and it need to be done pro-grammatically.
(the bytes sent and received). It seems skype calls and watching in browser videos shoot them up into the billions after a few hours +. Upon googling around i am quite alarmed. Why did my network randomly change to "network 3"? A few weeks ago it just said 'network'?
