View 2 RepliesI have this brand new HP laptop with a pre-installed Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit. The problem is the language is "Italian" and I need to change it to english. I've read some articles on the net and it seems that I have to pay for an upgrade or buy the ultimate edition to have the english language pack. Guys is there a way to change the language without "paying" a cent? let's say a workaround or something.

I can get by but it would be so much easier to have it all in English. For instance, I just tried to put my camera's SD card in to the slot and it came up with an error message that I couldn't even read!
So my friend bought this Compaq Mini CQ10 laptop/netbook over in spain, and bought it over to the UK.When he got it home and first time booted he noticed it was in Spanish, with Spanish keyboard. So my question is, can i change it from Spanish to English? its running Windows 7 Starter.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am an expat American living in France. I bought my laptop in the US, I have the Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit OS and it is in English. I have my location set to United States through the control panel and all of my system is set to display in English. My problem is that when I visit english websites that open dialog boxes, the boxes opened are often in French. My current example is I'm trying to update my video card driver through Intel's website. They have a diagnostic tool that scanned my computer and suggested I download drivers and update 2 components. The website was in English and I assume there are files that are all in English. However, when I run the .exe files, the dialog box is all in French -- and I am not fluent. I am assuming that something is checking my IP address or something. Is there a way to only have these programs display English? I'm not sure if it matters or not, but I am using Google Chrome.

View 1 Replies View RelatedIt seems i have narrowed down my issue that I have been dealing with for it seems like months now. Well essentially my system will reboot anytime it sits for an extended period of time (about 15 to 20 Minutes). My computer will go into standby mode. I do have it set for my computer to never sleep but only my screens. I have followed the BSOD instructions and do and those to attach to this post. Here is the additional information regarding this problem... Is Windows 7 . . . - x86 (32-bit) or x64 ? - x64 - the original installed OS on the system? Yes - an OEM or full retail version?Full retail version - What is the age of system (hardware)? Eh, varies video cards about a year old, memory and hardrives are about the same length of time. Chip is fairly new within a few months. - What is the age of OS installation (have you re-installed the OS?) OS was freshly reinstalled on 11/17/2011. All drivers for all pieces of hardware in my machine have had the newest drivers updated, including my video cards. I have also done the BIOS update for both of my video cards available from Palit. Oddly enough i can play Starcraft II for hours and no issue with rebooting... only when it sits for an extended period of time as mentioned earlier.

View 2 Replies View RelatedYesterday my computer crashed, but I got it working quite quickly again. But when I was to write to my friends in a chat (I am swedish) I realized i could not write any swedish letters. And all the 1-9 shift functions were moved or gone too. It has taken me a while to figure out where the functions are now (like ? ! @ etc). So anyway I thought that the input language must be acting wierd. and when I were to look what language i had on, there were none. No input languages. None. I cant add, because there are no languages to add. They all are gone.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have Windows 7 and use Windows Media player. I put a cd in the other day and the thing played and ripped just fine, but everything on it like the song titles, artist, and album name was in a different language! It was a normal Van Halen cd, nothing weird. I have no idea why it came up as whatever that was. It saved onto my pc like that too. Then today I went to create something in Paint, and many of my downloaded fonts were gone. I opened openoffice and a few showed up, but many of the others were missing from there as well. I went into the font folder itself, and half of them were lightly greyed out and had other languages on them. If I clicked on one. then across the bottom showed that this font was 'designed for:' Thai, this one for Arabic, this one for Japanese, and so on. Well when I downloaded them they were in English, and working just fine last time I tried. If I open the font, it displays in English.I go to the clock, language and region, then I go to region and language, then to keyboards and languages and there is nothing there! there are no options to remove languages at all.
View 5 Replies View Relatedpossible to install foreign languages on Windows 7 Professional, which I recently purchased and installed. Is it really true that I now need to purchase something else to be able to install language packs? If so, what?I'm not one to go on a rant against Microsoft and even usually defend the company against the charges of fanatic MAC users, but if it's really true that I now need to buy something else, well, I'll be very angry. Language packs were available in the home version of Vista, for instance, so why would I, as a consumer, think that they wouldn't be in W Professional? The idea that ordinary Americans, for instance, only need English, is unbelievably retrograde in this day and age. I'm an academic who really needs to be able to type in foreign languages for my work.
