When I turn my pc on, it will let me sign in, but won't show my start up screen. ,It shows a windows screensaver picture only. I then turn it off and try again..Sometimes it works fine but not often.

From last two days my laptop is not working whenever I turn on my laptop it show me the messege of setup repair automatecally then it start processing and after few min it show me finish option and when I click on finish it shutdown automatecally this happens again and again. If I try to start on safe mode I can't it againg start that process again.

I've downloaded Classic Shell so the menu looks like XP again, but I noticed that when I look at 'all programs' some of my programs aren't there. Turns out Windows 7 has two program folders, apparently one is for purely 64-bit programs and the other for ones that still use 32-bit. Does anyone know how I can get both of these folders to show up in the start menu, preferably combined? At the moment, I can only find the 64-bit folder, and can't find the 32-bit folder in the start menu at all.

View 4 Replies View RelatedA while back I used a few different programs to tweak Windows 7. One of the programs I used caused the recently used programs to stop showing up in the star menu. Under properties now I can't even set the number of programs to show because it is grayed out and unselectable. Any body know how to get this function back? I have ran SFC to see if there was something corrupt in Windows 7 with no errors returned. I think there is something turned off in the registry but have no idea where to look.

Win 7 Ultimate 32bit Hasn't given me problems for the last few months, until recently.What happened. I was in school studying, shut down the laptop, took a 15 minute walk to my student residence. When I tried to start the laptop. It showed nothing on the screen, not even the BIOS screen. Thought it was a faulty screen, I connected it to another monitor and even a projector. Nothing still showed on them.
When I insert a Win 7 Installation disk in the DVD drive, I can here it humming but still no display. The fan too is working plus the power on and charging lights are working to?
I want to reinstall windows 7 again, but for some reason this time, it doesn't show the Press any key to start installation. I went to BIOS and CDROM is set to boot first. I also put in the disk in and it runs normally from desktop. The CD is a little scratched, but I don't think that is the problem. It boots up fine up to the part where the four balls become the windows logo, but then freezes there everytime. When i try to select the windows start up repair it blacks out the screen and I cant do anything.
I know its not a faulty hard drive because its newly fitted and this problem occured previously on a different hard drive aswell.
I have been trying to clean install Windows 7 ultimate (DVD is fine, have installed on my friend's laptop successfully) since last week, but with no luck. Everything is fine during the installation; I can see the welcome screen, and then shut down. After my pc restart, passes the self-testing, it would reboot right before windows logo shows up. It turns into rebooting loop stopped every time before windows logo shows up. Also tried with Sapphire HD 3650 512MB (Dual DVI) graphic card, the results were the same.

using windows 7, have a blue screen at start up issue, memory dump. Sadly the PC wont start so unable to try too much, it lets you select user, attempts to ,log onto the user then just goes to mthe blue screen and starts the cycle again. It will not start in safe mode either, basically the same result although sometimes it loads and you are in but when you try to do anything it goes to the blue screen again. I did get the error code (not always the same on the blue screen but this one comes up most time), "driver IRQL not less or equal"

View 9 Replies View Relateddespite the fact that i have been trying to boot up win7pro64 in normal mode in my vaio for the past one month, all of my endeavors have failed so far. i am left with nothing else other than going for recovery resulting the loss of all of software (hopefully, i can backup my data by using ubuntu which is present as dual-boot and/or by safe mode which are booting fortunately). i have tried the following so far in safe mode:
# HDD/RAM tests; passed
# malware check by malwarebytes; passed
# reinstalling the graphics driver as i have a doubt that the video driver is not working since screen goes blank instead of getting blue logon screen with user name/icon/password after windows initial boot (the cursor appears on the screen and i can make it move by using touchpad); passed
# start-up repair; failed
# going back to last good config; failed
# restore point; none exists!
# manual update by downloading recent patches from windows update catalog (using a different computer as this did not allow for some weird reason) since the problem started only after recent windows update that failed during installation; failed.safe mode does not allow me to fix anything, windows update does not work here in addition to some other important functions that could be done in normal mode.couple of windows updates and loss of the system? i will absolutely hate to go for the recovery.
My home pc (Windows 7 Ultimate) is part of my business domain, but I also have local user accounts for my wife and kids.
At the login screen there is a icon for the last user that logged in and another labeled "Other Users" for the rest of the users, so that if a different user needs to login they have to select "Other Users" then enter the DOMAIN/USERID and password to logon.
Is there a way to have it show all three users with their icons at the login screen so they can just click their icon and enter their password (all have passwords) to logon. Getting them to enter the DOMAIN/USERID correctly everytime is a challenge since the slash has to go the correct way and the domain name is somewhat long.
After setting up a new install of Windows 7 Professional 64bit on a Samsung laptop (previously had home premium installed). I am having these issues that I am not sure of how to resolve:
1) when clicking on the start button the programs screen pops open but NO recent programs or pinned programs show up in the list without going to ALL Programs.
2) Laptop monitor and 20" LCD Desktop monitor both are running and the neither one will go above 1366 x 768 resolution setting. I have reinstall the latest Nvidia Gforce drivers with no change.

View 3 Replies View RelatedMy wife did something on her PC (she doesn't know exactly for sure what & can't explain it completely me), and now she can't boot up her PC. She says it had something to do with changing the security settings for a program she uses a lot so it wouldn't keep asking her if she wanted to launch it, and that's when it told her to restart the PC, then it wouldn't boot up anymore.When you reboot, the screen eventually goes to a black screen saying "Windows failed to start. A software or hardware error may be the cause" or something to that effect. It offers me the option to "Launch Startup Repair" or "Start Windows Normally".If I Launch Startup Repair, nothing much happens --- it says it's adding files, then it looks like Windows is about to boot up, then it goes to a black screen for a long time & nothing happens.
If I choose Start Windows Normally, it simply reboots & eventually brings me back to the same screen again.I've tried using rebooting and selecting ESC to get to the boot menu, then installing the Win 7 installation disc & selecting the DVD drive, then I select thelanguage, then I click Repair, but it sits there forever with nothing happening.I also tried an outside boot disc I found on the web & it doesn't launch.

I like viewing pictures in full screen but is it possible to disable that default slide show option? I suppose I can right click and select pause for each one. Any other method(s) available?
