PCI Wireless Driver - Ralink
Sep 21, 2009
I'm having an issue with installing the driver for my Ralink Turbo Wireless PCI Card.
I'm dual booting Windows 7 Ultimate (64-bit) on a seperated partition from Windows XP Professional.
The card appears in Device Manager as an unknown network device located on PCI slot 1, which is correct. Obviously, because I'm not connected to the internet via wireless for Windows 7, I can't use Live Update to find drivers for it.
From the Ralink website, I found an installation for Windows 7, however once the program has been run, no driver is installed for the card. I've tried installing multiple Ralink drivers from the built in ones that Windows 7 contains, but all of them fail to install for an unknown reason.
Just wondering, does anyone have any information that may benefit me?

I spotted what looked to be a solution to my problem of upgrading the driver for RT 61 turbo card from Vista to Windows 7 and I had further queries. It occurred to me that any discussion might be better in this "drivers" thread rather than the " hardware" one, So I wonder if I can take the liberty of repeating my questions here. The initial query from Gamer 1238 was:
I have a problem with my Ralink wireless card. windows "says" its fine but it doesn't enable (on windows 7)
It might be a driver problem i'm not sure...
I have the latest driver for it too its a Ralink RT61 Turbo Wireless Card chipset is 2561/RT61
if you know of any drivers that will work with windows 7 please post here and a link to the download so others like myself can fix this problem once and for all
Gamer 1238 finally found a driver and kindly posted a link which I have saved and my further questions are:
Although this thread is marked problem solved, I wonder, as a mid-80 year-old non-techie, if I could take it a little further. The Windows 7 upgrade advisor tells me that I should save an upgraded driver for my RT 61 turbo wireless card and install it after installing Windows 7 (after upgrading from Vista). I cannot find anything on the Ralink Technology web site which helps me but I came across this thread which seems to mirror my problem.
Accordingly, I downloaded from the link Gamer 1238 kindly supplied and saved it. Am I right in thinking that I can now install Windows 7, then open and install the driver from the from the saved file and all will be well? Or can I install the driver now before replacing my Vista with Windows 7? I suppose I am seeking reassurance before I burn my bridges and start the Windows 7 installation.

I have a Medion Atuyo P7700d PC with a RALINK RT2870 USB WLan.
I can't get it to connect to the internet over wifi. I have tried downloading the driver from the Ralink website - but it seems incredibly slow. I found the same driver elsewhere and downloaded it. However it doesn't appear to work.
I'm trying to run Windows 7 Profession x64.
Does anyone have a solution / working driver for this. Tried searching the net but yet no success.

For some reason, Windows 7 does not find any adapters on my computer. I have heard that Netgear does not support Windows 7 yet, (Aren't vista drivers supposed to work on Windows 7 anyway? I have a WPN111 adapter) so I'm using a built in pci-e Ralink for my adapter that came with my comp. I downloaded the most recent driver for it off of HP's site, but when I install it on Windows 7, it comes out saying that my system does not meet the miniumum requirements.

I have a HP G7 Laptop with a Ralink Wifi Card, which is having problems connecting to the home wireless network. have tried tcp/ip resets, ipconfig/flushdns command, and resetting the winsock catalog, although none of this seems to help.
The router is a D-link DIR 365, Hardware Version A1, Software version 1.09- and the dlink says there are no updated drivers (for either the Ralink card or the router) We also dont have wireless security but use the inbuit mac filtering option, and the filter definitely has my ip address as the few times when it has worked (albeit intermittenly) I have been able to fully check all the ip addresses. I have also tried a full factory reset and reload of both my computer and the router, still to no avail.
However all the other computers in the house ( On broadcom cards) work with the router absolutely fine with no connection issues. my card works with the other routers I have tried and just has problems with my house router. Attached onto this is a full ipconfig readout and I also have Xirrus, but not sure what you would like me to screenshot?

I know many people, me amongst them, have been looking for the (64-bit) drivers for this card that will work on Windows 7. I've finally found a link to a driver that seems to be it:
Download Railink RT2561/RT2661/RT2500 (RT61) Driver v.1.2.8.0/2.1.6.0/3.0.1.0 | Catalog - X-DRIVERS.COM: eXtremly full software portal
I'd love for someone who has Windows 7 installed to check and confirm this. I won't install windows 7 before I know my wireless internet will work on it.

I've just recently installed Windows 7 on my desktop PC, upgrading from XP and most of the things had ran smoothly, accept for my network driver.
The network won't recognize my internet signal, and because of this i cant update anything directly from my PC.
I have found a download for a new driver, but it seems the compatibility only goes up until Windows XP, Is this fixable?
Additional Information: I cannot connect my computer directly up to my modem, as the LAN connection in my PC seems to be missing (I'm suspecting it's because of my old motherboard)
I'm sure the problem is only with the drivers compatibility with Windows 7.

i'm trying to find a windows 7 wireless driver for my gateway m-1617. can't get the wireless to work.
Answer:-
Download Link:
http://support.gateway.com/support/drivers/search.asp?st=pn¶m=1014770R
Drivers are available only for Vista. Hopefully vista drivers will have to work with Windows 7.
Try installing Vista Drivers.
Answer 2:-
Only two types of chips used in your model for networking, Marvell & realtek
1.Check the User manual, if yours is using marvell, get the Marvell part number from your user manual & Download latest driver directly from here, by selecting your OS (63 bit/32bit)
http://www.marvell.com/support.html
2. If yours is having realtek chip, get the chip no. from your user manual & Download the drivers from here.

I apologize in advance if a thread related to this has already happened. Judging from my join date, I'm obviously new to these forums, a friend of mine recommended this to me, so I'm hoping someone here can help me figure out this problem. That problem being, I recently just wiped out my Windows 7 Basic edition due to some problems it was having and I recently just installed Windows 7 Ultimate (Wireless LAN_ Realtek_ 8.0. 0.238_W7x86W7x64_EM108). Now from my judgment with computers when I want to connect to a router, in the bottom right hand corner you could do as so and connect right away. Well, I can't do that. Right now I'm connected through my Ethernet cord and I'm trying to figure out this issue.
I went to my manufacturer website (I have a Gateway zx4800) and I recently downloaded the driver I needed (also x64bit) and I have set-up and installed what I needed to do and I even restarted, and still nothing. I even tried to set-up a wireless connection myself and it told me to wait 90 seconds, but nothing showed up for me to sent anything up, so my mind is just completely boggled.

Like everyone else I've been having trouble with getting the F5D7050 to work on Windows 7 32-bit. I went through the different compatibility modes using the v4 drivers from Belkin's site. My results ranged from OS not recognizing the driver as compatible to BSOD when using the network. Finally I tried Vista SP1 mode. It works! That's the only mode that worked for me.

I can install Windows 7 and make it run just fine as long as I don't let it install a wireless driver. When I run Windows Update after installing Windows 7 it wants to download the "Intel driver update for Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 2200 BG Network Connection" driver. After it is installed the computer locks up on boot up.
I tried to install the XP driver using xp compatibility mode "Intel 802.11a/g,g Mini-PCI Driver" which came on the laptop when I bought it and I get the same result.

I just upgraded a friend's HP desktop from Vista to Win 7. The Qwest 11n wireless adapter (actually an Actiontec 802ain) which worked fine in Vista, now has a problem. Everytime the computer is turned off and turned back on, the wireless adaptor disappears from Control Panel>Network Adapters, we need to reload the driver. The driver installation file is loaded on the adapter, we re-install it by unplugging/re-plugging the adapter into the usb port.It is kind of an odd install.t first the adapter shows up as a flash drive and autoplay prompts you to run Setup.exe., then it no longer shows up as a flashdrive._Windows_7.pdfso I do not have to reinstall the driver every time I turn on the computer? It was not like that on Vista.I am wondering if there is a service or something that needs to be started. Both Qwest and Actiontec have no ideas, they say the device is compatible with Windows 7.

since i while ago my laptop's wireless been behaving really weird. the wireless driver will suddenly disable and gone from the network list going into Device manager, it says "this driver is not installed " or sth like that. cant exactly rmb what it said, and sometimes the wireless bars in the bottom will show a yellow "!" with no connectivity with showing only the network i connected to. if i repair it the driver will be gone. almost have to repair like 10X times to get it come back on, (or i think i came back on itself) or sometimes just no network "no connections are available" 1st thought was virus, but did full scan.no virus. just did a Full Format and reinstall window, and 1st thing i've installed the wireless driver..still happaning.
