View 1 Replies View RelatedI have three PCs that connect to my home network wireless and two others that connect wired through a hub. Periodically one of the wireless PCs will see the other wireless devices but not the wired ones. This morning I installed some Win 7 updates and after the restart my laptop can't see the wired devices. My wife's Win 7 laptop sees everything. So the problem is intermittent. I have fiddled with Advanced Settings in Network Sharing, such as turning Network Discovery off and back on again. I can't seem to find the silver bullet that will cure this problem when it occurs.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI got a new laptop 3 days ago after my old laptop of 4-5 years finally decided to die. Now, with this laptop, ever since I've had it I keep having problems with the wireless losing connection to the internet. On my previous laptop this never used to happen and it was Windows vista. This laptop is Windows 7. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the network adapter, searched online for a new driver (used device manager to do this because I can't seem to find any drivers just using Google) and there was no newer driver available. I've checked the power options to make sure that it doesn't get disabled or w/e due to power saving. I've un-ticked the box in the power management tab in my network adapter's properties so that it doesn't get turned off to save power. I've also uninstalled Norton to see if that was causing the issue. The network adapter I have is an Atheros AR9485WB-EG. The drop outs usually happen when I speedtest, do Windows Updates or any kind of updating for that matter and when I try and torrent. If I move my laptop from where it currently is and put it in another room, the internet is fine. So I'm thinking it's the wireless card in my laptop. And as I said above, I never used to have any of these problems with my 4-5 year old Windows Vista laptop.

View 8 Replies View RelatedMy Dell Inspiron windows 7 laptop's wireless functionality has completely stopped working. Instead of a wireless tray icon, in the bottom right, there is a broadband ethernet icon, with a red x. There is a button on the keyboard which enables wireless, but pressing that has stopped doing anything. Troubleshooting the problem, it tells me that I need to connect an ethernet cable, for it to work.Checking the network connections page, there is no wireless driver or connection listed. Only the broadband. In short, my wireless driver is completely gone.I've tried downloading drivers from the manufacturors website, but there is none.
View 5 Replies View Relateduse my laptop just fine down a 40 foot hall way and through a kitchen and 2 more rooms wirelessly(admitedly with a mediocre connection).
About 2 days ago it was giving me sporatic messages after a restart claiming my network settings did not match the ones saved on my laptop. The only change that was made was adding all but one roomates devices to an access list on the router (since the jerk wouldnt shut off bit torrent while people were working). Some other people were noticing some screwy occurances too but dont recall the symtoms so I just set it back to factory default and removed the access list. Everyone else seemed to be fine
Yesterday I cannot see the router on my laptop, I cannot see my neighbors (sporaticly I usually would see 1 bar pop up but now I can't find it at all) I can pick up my router wirelessly only when I have direct line of sight to the router and only 4/5 bars 0,o , so that rules out a lot of choices in its self since it sees it, just not very well.

it was possible to replace my g wireless card (which still works) with a N wireless card? to get faster wifi speeds.
View 2 Replies View RelatedSeveral months ago my computer stopped picking up any wireless networks. I can connect using an Ethernet cable and a USB wireless adapter. I have troubleshooted and removed my driver and updated software; I even upgraded from Vista to Windows 7 hoping that might fix the problem but it didnt. I am thinking it may be my internal wireless card. So you recommend going to a hotspot to see if I can pick up there? I would think I would have to do that considering the USB adapter picks up multiple wireless networks but my internal one picks up none so I think that already rules out my router being a problem.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI've been all over the internet, looking for ways to fix my laptop connection - with no success so far.
I'm simply trying to connect my laptop to my router (they connect perfectly fine and the signal strength is excellent) the only problem I'm having is that the connection is dropping every few minutes, leaving my web browser to continuously load. I've tried connecting other laptops and they work flawlessly, without any issues so I'm really stumped why my brand new, 1600 laptop is giving me so many issues!

View 2 Replies View RelatedMy laptop does not connect to the internet on the wireless networks in my flat. It will connect to the network, but will not have internet access. There are several unsecured wireless networks available run by the flat and I can't connect to the internet on any of them, whereas other members of the flats and my flatmates are able to. This suggests there is not a problem as such with the router, turning it off and on again has already been attempted. When I moved in, the man in charge of maintaining/organising etc the flats took my MAC address and allowed my laptop access. Yet I cannot connect to the internet. I went to my uni's library and connected to the internet no problem. I have tried turning off my internet security, looking at the properties of the wireless connection and attempting to edit settings (changing them back again afterwards), and nothing seems to be working.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI am having trouble connecting my girlfriends laptop to the internet using her Windows 7 laptop via a Dlink router with Virgin Media. The laptop previously had Windows Vista installed but I recently upgraded it to Windows 7. For about 2 weeks the laptop connected to the wireless router fine, but stopped working about 4 days ago for some unknown reason out of the blue.
We have tried various methods to fix it, including disabling the wireless network adapter and enabling it again, we have tried updating the driver for the adapter but we get a message saying that the driver currently installed is the latest driver. It also won't let me roll back to the previous driver as that option is faded out in the properties box.
I have took her laptop to my house today to try and connect it to my router (which is also with Virgin and is working fine on my computers at my house) and the laptop won't let me connect to the network and it keeps saying there are no network connections available. I understand that usually it displays a list of connections you can log on to, but the laptop is not finding any connections at all.
On Thursday we attempted to connect to the internet by plugging in the blue wire that came with the router and that works fine. It's just it will not connect wirelessly. What really baffles us with this problem is that it worked fine for a couple of weeks then suddenly stopped working. Could it be an update that was installed that has caused the problem perhaps?
I have also tried using System Restore but that hasn't fixed the problem either. The wireless adapter is called: Atheros AR5005G Wirelss Network Adapter.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a Logitech DiNovo Edge Wireless Keyboard and a Logitech M510 Wireless Mouse.
I can't get my laptop to wake up by pressing keys on the keyboard or by clicking the mouse. The only way I can get it out of standby is to press a key on the actual laptop or click something with the laptop's built it touchpad.
I already tried looking in Device Manager but there is no Power Management tab for the keyboard or the mouse. There is only a Power Management tab on the laptop's built in keyboard and touchpad.
It's kind of annoying not being able to use the wireless devices to wake up the computer. I've read around that maybe it's because since the computer is on standby, the wireless keyboard and mouse's USB receiver aren't being powered by the laptop.
