PC Stutter, Latency, Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller?

Sep 28, 2012

ive been revieving some stutter noticibly when playing and form of video or audio and it has been getting worse as of late. Overall performance has dropped as well.Ive tried using Latency Checker and Latencymon and Realtek Ethernet Diagnostics Utility to try and diagnose the problem and the closest thing ive come to is that it has something to do with 'Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller' as when I disable it the stutter appears to vanish and latency readings drop however I need that to connect to the internet so keeping it removed is not really an option.I have tried using a variety of drivers and methods from this forum and others and none have come to be of any use as of yet. High Latency Issue Onboard Realtek Adapter

Oct 30, 2009

I received my copy of Windows 7 Home Premium. I skipped the Vista bandwagon, so I was moving directly from Windows XP Service Pack 3 (32-bit) to Windows 7 Home Premium. I opted to install the 64-bit version of Windows 7, as I had no issues when running the 64-bit beta.

As it turns out, I seem to have encountered an issue with my network adapter on Windows 7. Using any speed test site, such as speedtest.net, I get an extremely high ping (500ms +). I have tested another machine behind my router running Windows XP and there is no problem. Also, on the speed.io website, which tests connections per minute, I can only get around 200 on Windows 7, whereas I could get 2000+ on Windows XP with the same hardware.

Strangely, in games like Counter-Strike: Source, my ping is normal and in the 25-60 range on most nearby servers. Also, when running the ping command from the command prompt, most servers return a result lower than 100ms ... which is also normal. So, I don't understand why on speedtest.net, pingtest.net, and dslreport's flash speed test.. I get a ridiculous ping time of 500+ms. Web browsing does seem to be slow as well, as images take longer to load then they should.

I'm not sure whether this is a driver issue, or what. I have tried disabling both my firewall and AV software, so they are not at fault. I've tried 3 different version of the drivers for my NIC. One from the Gigabyte website, and two from Realtek's website (they released an updated version yesterday). My motherboard is a Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3R (rev 1.1). I have all of my system specs listed on my profile if anyone needs to know more.

Realtek PCIe FE Losing Connectivity In Windows 7 Home 64-bit

Mar 23, 2012

I am having an intermittent problem with my network connection dropping out for no apparent reason. When it drops, I still see the lights blinking on the NIC card, but cannot pass packets even to the router.Windows does not report the connection or the cable as disconnected when this problem is occurring. The problem will persist until I disconnect and reconnect the CAT-5e wire, or disable and re-enable the NIC.As soon as I do one of those 2 things, connectivity immediately returns (and works for another hour or so).I am running a legitimate copy of Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit on an HP Pavilion. All of the latest Windows updates and the latest firmware drivers are installed. My ethernet connection is a wired Local Area Connection with a static IP address, gateway and DNS.The IP address, gateway and DNS settings are accurate and work for several other computers here.

The Network Interface Card is a Realtek PCIe FE Family Controller (VEN_10EC / DEV_8136 / REV_05).NIC Power Management, Energy Efficient Ethernet, and Link Down Power Saving are all turned off.On the NIC, ARP/Large Send/IPv4,TCP,UDP Checksum/NS Offload, Flow Control, and are all on.Receive Buffer Size on the NIC is 64Kb (512 buffers). Receive Side Scaling on. 128 Transmit Buffers.Interrupt Moderation is turned on. Magic Packet features are turned off. Optimal Performance enabled. [code[

RealTek Network Adapter/Controller Not Being Found

Dec 12, 2011

Has someone faced the problem of the RealTek Network Adapter/Controller not being found. Yesterday morning my Internet connection went off and when I tried to repair it I got the following message: The RealTek Network Adapter/Controller was not found. If Deep Sleep Mode enabled Please Plug the Cable i searched the Net on my other Computer and found chapter and verse on this problem but none of the suggested cures worked and the Net remained off the whole day. Finally in the night in disgust I shut down the errant computer, unplugged all the cables attached to it, and went to sleep. This morning I attached all the cables and restarted the computer and everything was back to normal again. After scouting the Net the only change that I have made is to uncheck the "Allow this Computer to turn off this device to save Power" Box.

After some time it turned out i got my Realtek network controller missing (along with network dirvers ofc).So i took my driver setup file and installed it.. however in the end i got the following message "The RealTek Network Adapter/Controller was not found. If Deep Sleep Mode is enabled Please Plug the Cable"So i turned on my old PC and looked for sloutions on-line.Here is what i tried so far-Removed my RAM (first time for around 10 mins ; second time for around 1 hour)-Reseted CMOS (from motherboard)-AND RE-INSTALLED WIN 7.NONE OF WHICH WORKED.

Realtek Ethernet Controller Not Detected - Deep Sleep Error

Aug 4, 2010

I did a fresh Windows 7 64 bit installation and everything was going fine (besides the BSOD problems about the graphics card which I fixed by renaming nvlddmkm.sys which was the cause of the BSOD) until I tried installing the Ethernet drivers.

Specs:
Gigabyte GA-MA69G-S3H Motherboard
AMD Athlon 64 6000+ CPU
4GB 800 DDR2 Memory
585 Watt Power supply
XFX 8800 GTS GPU
2 Seagate Hard drives : 250 GB & 160GB

Windows doesn't even detect the adapter even though its onboard. I've tried installing the drivers from the original dvd (and in compatible and as administrator) with no luck. I also tried downloading the latest lan drivers from [URL] but it still didn't work. I got a deep sleep error or something. (Which I couldn't resolve cause there's nothing in network connections, not even the 1394 connection which is also turned on in the bios)

No it does not show in device manager under Network adapters. Actually there isn't even a network adapter subcategory unless I click show hidden devices(which has multiple devices then but no network controller). The only driver with a question mark is the graphics card driver which I will try to install after I get the Ethernet adapter working. Microsoft did say its 64 bit compatible [URL] so I don't know what to do. I did check the settings in the bios to see if everything with network was enabled and whatnot.. I also tried resetting everything in the bios to default settings with no luck.

Out of desperation tried adding the device manually through device manager (action>add Legacy hardware>manually>network adapters>have disk..) I tried this with the latest drivers I got from gigabytes website but it didn't even show a device, so I tried the original drivers from the mobo dvd which gave 3 devices.. I tried them all.. each time reinstalling the latest drivers and whatnot to no avail. I'm Thinking of trying to use the windows 64 bit repair disk seeing as it might be software related seeing as it doesn't even show the firewire adapter.

Stutter / Freeze At Midnight

Aug 25, 2012

A weird freeze/stutter thing occured on my system (Windows 7 64-bit Ultimate) today at midnight (00:00). It was present for a second and was gone. My sound became corrupt during that second, as if BIOS was flashing, but after a second, the system unfreezed and returned to normal.I had this on my old computer, and not exactly sure what's causing that. I looked in the event viewer and the only log I could find at that time was this:"Windows Time service entered the running state." - Brief translation from my native language. [code]

CD Audio Stutter Spiking At 100%

Dec 27, 2012

Certain audio CD's stutter when played and I am wondering what to look to change as to settings to resolve the issue. When running Resource Monitor, the CD's that stutter are showing that the "CPU", "Network", and "Memory" are all operating in the middle of the charts, but "Disk" is spiking at 100% and then dropping to lower values and then spiking again.Only certain commercially recorded CD's demonstrate this behavior such as Trans Siberian Orchestra, while others like BIllboard and such do not stutter and do not spike on "Disk" and play normally.

Audio Stutter/lag Whilst Typing?

Jun 3, 2009

After installing Windows 7 64 bit yesterday, I'm very happy with it, but I've come across my first problem;Whenever I type at any sort of speed (most of the time, I touch type), regardless of the software in which I'm typing, the audio seems to lag or stutter very slightly, as if input from the keyboard is too much for the machine to process. It's only noticeable when I'm playing music.Perhaps I'm being a little lazy starting a thread this early, as I haven't yet exhausted all my options, but I'm curious to see if anyone's experienced the same issue and can save me some time. So far I've installed the latest Audio drivers I could find, to no avail. The next thing I'll try is to update my video card drivers, as it's currently only using the default Windows 7 wdm one. I figure if the UI of Windows 7 uses hardware acceleration, it might have an issue there.

System specs, for reference:

CPU: AMD Athlon64 X2 4600+
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-MA78G-DS3H rev. 1.0 (Realtek Azalia HD Audio chipset)
Memory: 2Gb DDRII 800
Video card: ATI Radeon 9800GT 512MB
Audio player: Winamp 5.55 (latest version)

It seems ATI's latest catalyst driver package for windows 7 doesn't list my video card as being supported, only the newer HD series cards, but I might give it a go anyway.

Video And Audio Stutter In Games / Videos

Aug 6, 2012

the problem is stuttering. i get stutters in games, game movie scenes, videos, Internet videos, even as i type this to you know at times what i am typing doesn't appear, it stutters, then the words appear. in games, the stutter is probably every 10 seconds or so and makes games unbearable to play. with movies, the video will freeze but the audio will carry on, then once the stutter ends the video catches up and synchronizes with the audio. in firefox, like i mentioned earlier sometimes what i type doesn't appear for a few seconds, and also when i click on links it occasionally stutters. my laptop is an alienware mx15 which is less than 18 months old and 2months ago i wiped and reinstalled windows. things i have tried so far?

- updated graphics card driver which is a nvidea geforce gtx 420
- i did a disc defrag
- error checking of the hard drive (this got rid of the stuttering for about 10 mins whilst i was playing a game. however, when i go back to the properties on my c drive and look at this option again, there is the shield (2 blue quarters and 2 yellow quarters) usually this means an update, but nothing happens.

Stutter / Lag When Playing Games And Mouse Cursor

Jan 17, 2013

I am having stuttering Issues while playing any game, occasionally my mouse does this laggy thing on the desktop but rarely, but when in game about 5 minutes into it the game starts acting like im having lag spikes, but it does it when playing non online games as well. Mainly Metro 2033 (most noticeable when a bomb goes off) and Counter Strike GO after 5 minutes or so.When I originally had this problem I had used a program called ToolWiz which I would not recommend, it changes way to much and deleted things from windows. In any Case I reformatted my computer hoping it would solve the problem. [code] Have a Hyper 212 on the CPU 4 great case fans. Idles temps are CPU: 29c 39c under load.... GPU 30c 47c under load.I used FRAPS when in CS GO to check FPS and normal I get about 120fps, WHen the glitching stuff started the fps never went below 90fps, so given for changes in enviroment, I would say FPS isnt an issue. All drivers are updated. Going to run Memtest tonight, but doubt that I will see any issues.

Im trying to get Memtest to boot from disc, but cant seem to get it to load at start up, (had similar problem when I installed fresh OS, had to do it inside OS) But was looking through BIOS settings, and saw some things that somehow got changed, switched it back into Ganged mode, and set Voltage on DRAM to 1.55 from 1.51. Didnt have an issue before with it this low but we will see, still trying to figure out how to get that darn memtest disc to load.

How To Find Out What Application Causing System To Stutter

Nov 13, 2012

About 2 months ago I bought a new laptop. (Asus n56v). Since day one, I noticed every application I run will freeze or stutter every now and then. Its totally random when it does this. No matter what I am doing, web browsing, watching a video or playing a game. I always notice the application will stutter. I never get any errors, the applications never crash they just stutter for a second. Now, being a smart wiz that I am, I half screened a video playing, while I had task manger opened in the other half. I went to the performance tab and waited. Sure enough when the video started to stutter, I noticed all of my cores went up to 100% for the time the video was stuttering.

Then they went back to normal 1 - 5%. Again its not just 1 program that does this. Every program does this. Its not my drivers as I installed them over and over again. Its not my video card as I was able to switch to my on board intel 4000 gpu and it still does the same thing. So my only theory now is that there is a background application running that seems to be trying to do something quite intensive every now and then and this seems to be making my applications stutter. So is there a way to check to see what application is using 100% of my cpu every now and then?

More info on my laptop:
Core i7 3rd Gen
Nvidia GT 650m

USB External Soundcard Latency?

Mar 9, 2009

Testplatform HP Pavilion DV-5 Entertainment Notebook PC (4GB RAM, 2GHz dual-core) with MicrosoftĂ‚® WindowsĂ‚® 7 7048 x64 and Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Surround 5.1.Driver:USB_W7DRVBETA_US_1_01_0091.exe. Tested with clean installed OS and only this driver. The Sound Blaster X-Fi Surround 5.1 is connected with optical TOSlink to a 5.1 Pioneer reciever. There occures great (and increasing) latency while playback of videofiles.-Sound will very noticably loose sync from video within a minute (all filetypes, not a codec problem). The latency will not occure with the internal notebook speakers, nor on same system with MicrosoftĂ‚® WindowsĂ‚® Vista x86. The Notebook ships with HPs "AMD USB Filter Driver" that should improve the performance of USB accessories, such as USB speakers or a USB TV tuner. I have tried to install this also on the testplatform to resolve the problem, however even though it seems to install fine the latency/syncproblem still resists.

I had an issue were my latency was spiking to 1700, so i uninstalled my network driver and that brought my ping down alot, it spikes as high as 160 roughly. Is that fine for gaming or should i expect alot less? I have done the ping fix and other various tweaks to my nextwork and that seems to be the lowest i can get it.

Does Internet Effect Latency

Sep 17, 2012

I've been having DPC latency problems lately. It seems as if the latency ONLY spikes when using the internet. That's it. I play music in the Media Player; latency is fine, sound is fine. I play Halo and the sound is fine. I don't get it. Does the internet effect the latency? It only spikes when I'm watching a video or listening to music while online.

DPC Latency & Sound Dropouts

May 25, 2012

Recently I upgraded my computer hardware to a new motherboard, graphics card and processor. I moved my old hard disks (from my old hardware) into this new computer, turned it on and it started right up, I just had to re-validate Windows 7, which went without a hitch.Yesterday, I bought a new headset and started using it with my PC (before I was using desktop speakers), however, when I turned on some music, I was hearing a lot of stuttering/static while it was playing. I had this problem before, but it usually only happened when there was a program running that was taxing the CPU, and that isn't an issue now.I read around for a while last night about the issue, and it turns out that it's something called "DPC Latency", so I downloaded all the tools and tried to troubleshoot it for a few hours before I went to bed with no luck.So far I've tried:

-disabling HPET in bios & switching it to 64 bit mode (it was on 32 previously)
-turning off Powermizer on the Nvidia card
-disabling all USB ports one by one
-disabling all audio and network drivers
-changing the power settings for the CPU and HDD (tried this http://www.sevenforums.com/tutoria [...] -dipm.html
-updated all my drivers except by BIOS so far (I haven't tried that because it seems kind of risky, but I suppose I would do it as a last resort)

Another issue I was having was with my processor making this high pitched whistling noise, but when I turn off "disable processor idle" in the Windows power management area, it stops making noise. The weird thing to me is, it changes my dpclat.exe from full red bars to this for about 1-3 minutes (but after a few minutes it just goes back to full red bars, 28000ÎĽs):Before I went to bed last night, I turned on a 2 hour audio track and set it to loop with LatencyMon running. You can see in the screenshot below that the main culprits are:

-ndis.sys
-ataport.sys
-usbport.sys
-dxgkrnl.sys
-HDAudBus.sys

I've looked around on how to fix these individually, but I can't come up with anything at all. If I purchase a PCI sound card, would it fix these issues? I would prefer to fix it without having to do that, but if that's the only way to fix it for sure I can do it.

This screenshot shows the results of a UAC window popping up and being closed at the point when the bars are red.I was hoping it would resolve when I re-installed windows 7 and updated my drivers but the crackling still persists. By checking DPC latency when some devices were disabled in Device Manager one by one, I noticed that without my graphics card (nVidia GeForce GTS 250 512MB) driver installed, the audio crackling and latency was gone.

Network Usage Causes High DPC Latency

Jan 6, 2010

After about 24 hours of booting my computer, I have seen my DPC Latency spike tremendously. At first, I thought this was an issue with my network card (since disabling it would drop DPC Latency), so I bought a new card. The problem didn't go away, so I realized it was something else. High DPC Latency is a problem since it causes audio and video lag.

As I troubleshooted the issue, I have realized the spikes were caused from network activity. For example, when I am seeding [not necessarily uploading] many torrents or am loading a website, it shoots up.

Does anyone know what may cause this and how I could prevent it?
