I just installed Outlook 2010 on my new Samsung laptop running Windows 7 a few days ago (an upgrade from Outlook 2002 that I was previously using on my old computer running XP). My husband & I have 4 different email accounts, so I started configuring all of them on the new version & it all seemed to be working fine. Last night my husband moved our saved emails, etc., from our old computer to the new one. At first everything went smooth. All the stuff we still had on the old pc showed up in all the right places in our new inboxes. Once he was finished, we tested send/receive several times & it was all working fine.After powering up the laptop & starting Outlook, I've discovered that all email accounts work EXCEPT our main account. This is the error message I keep getting:
Sending' reported error (0x8004010F) : 'Outlook data file cannot be accessed.'
Receiving' reported error (0x8004010F) : 'Outlook data file cannot be accessed.'
I've just upgraded my Outlook 2010 ANSI .pst file to an Unicode format by creating a new .pst and importing data from the old .pst. I want to delete the old .pst,but I get the error message "You cannot delete this Outlook data file. Configuration information in the file is being copied to your new default data file. You can delete the file after this information is copied."I don't think information is being copied, as I've waited to see if it would resolve, but I do think that there is still some connection to the old .pst file that is preventing deletion. I have changed the folder of my email accounts' storage location to the new Unicode .pst. What else do I need to do?
My Outlook 2010 installation has started displaying a dialogue box that my mailbox is over its limit and that I should consider coverting my data file to the new style MS Outlook 2010 data file which can handle larger file sizes.I was successfully using MS Outlook 2003, and 2010 for a while, now this error message pops up!
I have another issue regarding Office Outlook 2007 and Windows 7 RC (Build 7100). When I open up Outlook sometime (pretty frequently lately).
I get a message telling me that the data file was not closed properly last time it was opened and a check is now is progress (whoo-hoo).
I am happy for it to check the file to make sure that there is no problem with it but doing it every single time I open Outlook for the days work ahead (gimme a break).
There was a thread that I came across on here that Ian had posted about disabling the iTunes Add-On in the Trust Center. But I have tried this to no avail.
I am trying to move one pst file from one laptop which has Outlook 2010 32 bit to another laptop which has Outlook 2010 64 bit installed, steps taken 1) Copied the pst file from the User/AppData/Microsoft/Outlook folder to usb. 2) Pasted the file from usb into User/Documents folder. 3) Tried to open the file in Outlook and I get the error that Outlook encountered errors while opening the file. Now how is that possible when the file is working perfectly in one laptop but when I copy and paste it into another it gets corrupted? Is it due to 32 bit to 64 bit outlook? I tried to repair it using scanpst and it brought back few mails?
I purchased Outlook 2010 out-of-the-box and am authorized to install it on two machines. It's been running on my desktop (duo-core Intel/Windows 7 64bit) for months now, and I've just gotten around to installing it on my Toshiba Satellite (Athlon/Windows 7 32bit) laptop.
So far, so good, but I don't want to have to manually and tediously set up my email accounts again. let alone copy calendar and notes, etc. How do I transfer all that data over? It'll be especially important when synchronizing the two machines. I tried copying over the C:User...AppDataLocalMicrosoftOutlook folder with contents and C:User...AppDataRoamingMicrosoftOutlook folder as well. No apparent effect.
It used to be that copying Outlook.pst would do the trick, but no longer, apparently.
I haven't touched Outlook in about 5 or 6 years, and it was actually the Express version at that.
I would like to transfer my email files from Thunderbird version 16 to Outlook 2010, which I have now.
Is there a simple way to do this? I have about 4 to 5 gig of email data. Of course it would be too easy, but I don't see an "Import from Thunderbird" option anywhere...
There are a lot of questions about this and none of the proposed solutions seems to work for me. Now that MS has moved on to the 2013 version of the software, it still does not work on 2010. What did people do? Here is the problem have a .pst file from Outlook 2007 on an old computer. I want to use that same .pst file on a new computer running Outlook 2010. I want all my new mail to go to the old .pst file and nowhere else. Now here is what I've tried and what seems to happen:When starting O'2010 it needs your email address. I create that but then it creates a new .pst file named myname@mydomain.com.pstAnd it creates it in C:/Users/myname/AppData/Local/Microsoft/Outlook. If I try to move the new .pst file to the folder entitled C:/Users/myname/Documents/Outlook Files, then when I restart Outlook it recreates the deleted .pst file back in the AppData folder
I have three email accounts with gmail connected to outlook 2010. Sadly the PST file contains all the emails from my email addresses and since I hate deleting emails the PST files are huge. Is there a way to set up outlook so it only goes back X ammount of time for storing email on my system and have some other way to access anything older?Right now I have 10 GB's of files on my laptop and I am sure my desktop to. So I would much rather shrink that down as much as possible, if not then I can move the files to a none OS HDD, but with my laptop at least hard drive space is somewhat limited.
I had to do a Windows repair install on my desktop. All files are still intact; however, Outlook 2010 is asking to set up from scratch. I have the old .pst file. How do I go about setting up Outlook to use the saved .pst without creating a new one? I have searched online but have had no luck. While the old computer was being reset, I installed Outlook onto laptop and could merge the old and new .pst files but the calendars, contacts, and rules did not migrate over. I would like to avoid this problem on the desktop computer.
I'm having trouble closing out outlook in my new 2010 outlook. What is causing this? I click on the "x" or file exit and it still won't close. I have to shut down, and it will close out.
After I imported a pst into my mailbox(using the option to replace duplicates) I know have strikethroughs on all of the duplicates that should have been replaced.
How can I get rid of these messages. I have also checked and the messages are not set to expire.
When I try to open my 2010 Oulook the following window opens: Heading - "Outlook data file password." Message - "Type the password for [my e-mail address]" I cannot change any settings in Outlook, everything is blank except for the window described above. I have tried all the passwords I know I could have or usually use and nothing works. There is no option to type in a username. I do not use an exchage server, only the POP and SMTP settings. I have Windows 7 Pro 32 bit loaded with Office 2010 Home & Business.
Purchased a website and email domain. I have a fresh install of MS office 2010 and when trying to incorporate my pop3 mail everything works fine, even the test emails, but I can not save profile because i get an error, "This information service is not installed on your computer", so it wont let me create a new data file. when I search for an existing .pst none are found on hard drive. so I'm kinda stuck. I tried the same basic thing via control panel > mail > data file tab > add data file, but i get the same error. "This information service is not installed on your computer." I took a look at my add/remove windows features pane to see if maybe on windows install I missed some email protocols or something but I could not find any. did the same for the office 2010 install, checked to see if I did not install a key feature. still nothing.Tried using IMAP as well since this does not require .pst access but still same error. "This information service is not installed on your computer."
I keep an Outlook data file on my external HDD that I carry between work and home.How do I get it to stop downloading emails twice!?I have three accounts; a Gmail account (which doesn't have this problem), a work account that uses SmarterMail and another account that's set up through Windows Live Mail.
I used to be able to conect to my office email from my home computer but I now get an error message code 20 that mentions something about a "proxy server". Is there a fix within Microsoft 2007, itself, that can fix this? Or do I have to purchase one of the MANY registry repair programs?
I have office home and student 2010+ outlook 2010. All work great, but since the last updates whenever I open action center there are loads of non critical outlook errors, all the same! I don't know what the error means, I never had them before the updates and I dont want to see them! I have tried: repair on both office and outlook. Excluding outlook from error reporting, turning error reporting off! they still appear, about every other time outlook is opened. They are all identical! each error is phoned home. I don't want them to be!
I sometimes get a script error when getting data from web when using Excel 2010.
This seems to depend on the ISP I'm using as I can take the laptop into some Wifi enabled Cafe's and EXCEL gets the data without the error popup.
Since I like to run some of these as background queries (updating Stock prices for instance) is there any way to skip or supress the popup. I've just about tried every possible option both in OFFICE and IE.
I am getting an error message within outlook 2010/Windows 7. When clicking on hyperlinks I get a message that states. "This operation has been cancelled due to restrictions in effect on this computer outlook". I had IE and firefox installed but uninstalled firefox to see if this would make a difference. It didn't work and I am still getting the message. Also, I downloaded the new IE 9.
I've been trying to create a Task in Outlook from a Word Document that I have created on this computer. The idea is that a shortcut to the document is created as an Outlook Task. Click on the shortcut, and voila - there is the document.The "Create Microsoft Office Task" icon DOES send the document to Outlook as a Shortcut in a Task, however, when I open the task, Outlook says:"Outlook blocked access to the following potentially unsafe attachments: Shortcut to 'document name'."It's NOT an unsafe attachment; Outlook WILL OPEN this document if I send it as an email attachment. Outlook will open .docx files types.
I have a new Dell Inspiron 14Z running windows 7 pro 64bit and i'm using Microsoft office 2010. I'm trying to retrieve archived emails that i backed up on an external hard drive from a previous computer, the files are .pst which is an outlook format but i keep on getting an error message saying the file is not an Outlook data file (.pst). i dont have any other way to retrieve these emails since they were deleted from the server and its about 1.5 years of work emails. Not sure what to do? should i move the files from the external driver to a different location on the computer and open them, or are they corrupted and need to be fixed?
I tried to install new updates of Ableton live and the machine crashed badly... and since them it has really gone a bit wonky. whatever i try to do on my outlook that has to do with .PST file management results in a crash where outlook quitsif i go to control panel > mail settings > data files 2 of the files that are in use (& work) do not show up, one of them the default mail delivery .PST. in these two, trying to access the advanced properties gives an error:The operation failed. i am running windows 7 64 bit i have microsoft office 2010 minus outlook, so i have just bought outlook 2010, installed it,but every time i try to open now i get a pop up saying the server is unavailable?
I'm running Windows 7 Professional 64-bit and Microsoft Home and Office 2010. Everything was working fine yesterday, but when I came back to work today and attempted to open Outlook 2010, I instantly received a message saying: "Outlook failed to launch in safe mode. Do you want to start repair?" If you try to open it again, it opens a second process of OUTLOOK.EXE*32 in the Task Manager. Here is what I've already tried to do while troubleshooting:
- Restarted the computer - Performed a MS Office Repair, it completed, rebooted (Did this twice) - Uninstalled MS Office 2010, rebooted, reinstalled it, rebooted, but same problem occurred - Verified that the other Office programs work (Word, Excel, etc) - Tried to run "outlook.exe /resetnavpane"

I have just completed transfer to a Solid State Drive using a clean install of win 7 and all programmes etc.Everything appears to be running well but I need help in restoring my Outlook account. On first starting Outlook on the new drive I was asked to set up an account but obviously don't want to end up with two of them so I backed out.I do have my original .pst file backed up to a memory stick.
I`d like to know how to backup the outlook :contacts,emails, archive. I try this way ! File/open/export/export to a file/Outlook data file( pst.) browse location/Select Folder to Export From/etc.maybe i did wrong!I have 8 gb to backup and the is a sign said that icant backup more then 4 gb .
I do not get a Page set up dialog box when I click Print - only a Print Options with Properties that if you change gives a message saying that some of settings changed may not work in Outlook and to use the Page Setup dialog box
