View 1 Replies View RelatedI use MS Word a lot. Whenever I want to do anything with my saved Word items, I click on Documents, click on my Word item I want and it opens up. Since I upgraded to Office Home and Student 2010, when I click on the Word item I want, a window opens up and asks me what program I want to use to open it up, 'Notepad' or 'Wordpad'. I want neither. I just want it to open up like it did before I upgraded.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI clicked on Microsoft office 2007 Home & student edition. It displayed "The version of this file is not compatible with the version you're running (Windows 7 premium). Check your computer's system information to see whether you need an x86(32-bit) or x64(64-bit) version of the program, then contact the software publisher". I checked the version and it was 32 bit (under Program X86). The problem was the application (Microsoft word 2007) worked last night, until the windows update 7 has caused the application to become incompatible. Is there a way to correct the error?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI downloaded from Digital River yesterday with the student discount, and had the same problem as everyone else "unboxing" the download. I used the fix that's been circling round the forums and have got it installed and working. The only thing I'm missing is a product key. Wasn't Digital River supposed to give me one in my confirmation email?
I've received nothing of the sort, and would really like to activate this product I've purchased. I have product keys from previous versions of Windows that I've bought, but the machine I installed Windows 7 on was using Linux as its main operating system. Any thoughts?
I am taking an online college course. When answering questions we were advised to first type our answers into micrsoft word and then copy and paste into the website. The school website only has basic spell check that is the reason for copy and pasting.I have Word 2010 and Windows 7.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI was recently upgraded to Windows 7 and Office 2010. Under my old version of Windows XP & Office XP/07, when I received an emailed spreadsheet & made adjustments to it, I was able to save it directly over the old emailed file. Now when I make any changes I am asked to save a copy of the file & to save it elsewhere on my computer & cannot save it directly over the original emailed spreadsheet. how to get this old feature back? I'm sure it's just a matter of ticking some option off.
View 7 Replies View RelatedDell Inspiron w/Win 7. MS Office worked fine this week. On 1/22/12 I contacted Dell re: blue screen problem. Tech said it was because my computer was running too slowly and he did cleanup, etc. Then he installed System Mechanic and told me it would solve problems. Had even more problems so contacted Dell last Sunday (1/29/12) and THAT tech told me System Mechanic should never have been installed because it conflicts with my anti-virus and told me to uninstall which I did 1/30/12 after conv. w/Dell about refunding my money.Discovered my AV had not updated at all during the week. Contacted Total Defense today...spent 4 hours w/him to uninstall/reinstall and get it working.NOW none of the MS office programs work. All say they're not installed, but they are there in the program files. Tried to reinstall from CD...quit half way through and said it could not finish installation. I used Excel during the week so I know it was working after System MEchanic install but do not know if the uninstall of that or the changes the AV tech made are responsible

View 4 Replies View RelatedJust started using a new workstation with Office 2010 installed by OEM. Everything worked fine for a few days, and then every time i attempt to open a Word file or Excel file i get the MS Office dialog box that states "please wait while windows configures Microsoft Office 2010". The dialog box stays visible for 30-45 seconds and then the program opens and works fine.
Ran a repair, four times, didn't fix it.
All of my research leads me to a solution of uninstalling and re-installing. I'm not buying that if everything worked fine for several days, that a bad install will make the program stop functioning properly.
I also noticed, while visiting help within outlook, that the product was still a trial version and not currently activated. I have entered the activation code numerous times with no luck.
