View 5 Replies View RelatedDell Inspiron w/Win 7. MS Office worked fine this week. On 1/22/12 I contacted Dell re: blue screen problem. Tech said it was because my computer was running too slowly and he did cleanup, etc. Then he installed System Mechanic and told me it would solve problems. Had even more problems so contacted Dell last Sunday (1/29/12) and THAT tech told me System Mechanic should never have been installed because it conflicts with my anti-virus and told me to uninstall which I did 1/30/12 after conv. w/Dell about refunding my money.Discovered my AV had not updated at all during the week. Contacted Total Defense today...spent 4 hours w/him to uninstall/reinstall and get it working.NOW none of the MS office programs work. All say they're not installed, but they are there in the program files. Tried to reinstall from CD...quit half way through and said it could not finish installation. I used Excel during the week so I know it was working after System MEchanic install but do not know if the uninstall of that or the changes the AV tech made are responsible

View 4 Replies View RelatedI clicked on Microsoft office 2007 Home & student edition. It displayed "The version of this file is not compatible with the version you're running (Windows 7 premium). Check your computer's system information to see whether you need an x86(32-bit) or x64(64-bit) version of the program, then contact the software publisher". I checked the version and it was 32 bit (under Program X86). The problem was the application (Microsoft word 2007) worked last night, until the windows update 7 has caused the application to become incompatible. Is there a way to correct the error?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI use MS Word a lot. Whenever I want to do anything with my saved Word items, I click on Documents, click on my Word item I want and it opens up. Since I upgraded to Office Home and Student 2010, when I click on the Word item I want, a window opens up and asks me what program I want to use to open it up, 'Notepad' or 'Wordpad'. I want neither. I just want it to open up like it did before I upgraded.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI now have a new problem, before I managed to open 2007 files by opening Office 2010 and then from inside the application choosing to open a file. The problem I have though is if I just try to open an Office 2007 file then I can't open it, and I can't change the default program to open it. How do you get Office 2010 to open all the Office 2007 files such as word, excel etc?

View 1 Replies View RelatedJust bought a new laptop with Windows7 64bit installed-my first exposure to Windows7. I had Office 2007 installed on my old Dell 32 bit machine. I had also recently pruchased Office 2010 and installed that on my new machine. Now, when I try to open those 32bit 2007 files with 64bt 2011, Iget an error message that "no picture file is available", or words to that effect. When I try to "open with", the only option displayed is "Microsoft Office" with an icon that looks like a picture file. When I try to browse to the proper office program(Excel, for example), there are none of teh Office suite programs displayed, only "Microsoft Office".I can navigate seperately to the proper progran, Excel, etc., and drag the file into the application, and it opens, and all seems to work OK. I "save as" the proper application file, but it still will not open with double-click on the file name.

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy new computer came with Office 2010 Starter installed. I believe I activated it. Then I installed my last legal version of Office Home 2007. View 1 Replies View RelatedI've recently built a new computer and reused my old HDD. I didn't have the windows disk to re-install, so I burned a windows 7 iso to a disk and re-stalled windows that way. Well, the problem is I just got a notification saying the key I used was wrong, and after checking, I realized I'm running the 32 bit version, not the 64-bit which is what the key was for. So, my question is, after burning another Windows 7 home premium disk, what steps do I have to take to install it. I need specifics such as whether or not I will have to re-install my mobo and gpu drivers, etc.
