View 5 RepliesI use MS Word a lot. Whenever I want to do anything with my saved Word items, I click on Documents, click on my Word item I want and it opens up. Since I upgraded to Office Home and Student 2010, when I click on the Word item I want, a window opens up and asks me what program I want to use to open it up, 'Notepad' or 'Wordpad'. I want neither. I just want it to open up like it did before I upgraded.

View 5 Replies View RelatedDell Inspiron w/Win 7. MS Office worked fine this week. On 1/22/12 I contacted Dell re: blue screen problem. Tech said it was because my computer was running too slowly and he did cleanup, etc. Then he installed System Mechanic and told me it would solve problems. Had even more problems so contacted Dell last Sunday (1/29/12) and THAT tech told me System Mechanic should never have been installed because it conflicts with my anti-virus and told me to uninstall which I did 1/30/12 after conv. w/Dell about refunding my money.Discovered my AV had not updated at all during the week. Contacted Total Defense today...spent 4 hours w/him to uninstall/reinstall and get it working.NOW none of the MS office programs work. All say they're not installed, but they are there in the program files. Tried to reinstall from CD...quit half way through and said it could not finish installation. I used Excel during the week so I know it was working after System MEchanic install but do not know if the uninstall of that or the changes the AV tech made are responsible

View 4 Replies View RelatedI clicked on Microsoft office 2007 Home & student edition. It displayed "The version of this file is not compatible with the version you're running (Windows 7 premium). Check your computer's system information to see whether you need an x86(32-bit) or x64(64-bit) version of the program, then contact the software publisher". I checked the version and it was 32 bit (under Program X86). The problem was the application (Microsoft word 2007) worked last night, until the windows update 7 has caused the application to become incompatible. Is there a way to correct the error?

Printing is fine in all programmes in Office and others (Thunderbird, Chrome, Foxit Reader, etc...). All except in Excel. The programme (Excel) does not see the printer, or when it does it does not let the printer be chosen.Printers are all Kyocera or Brother, but different models.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI have tried everything under the sun to get my MS Office working (2010 Home & Business). This is the third time I have had such issues with it. The first two times it miraculously worked on it's own. This time it seems to be dead for good.
When I try and open office it just stays at the "starting" box and doesn't go any further. I am unable to open it via winword.exe either.
I am able to open it in safe mode, but when I try and save a file it just freezes my computer, same if I also try and close the program.
I have attempted a repair and an uninstall and neither work, they just get to half way and hang (for hours.) I have done a "clean boot" I have tried to restore my system to a point when MS was working but I get some 0x8007005 error saying a virus protection may be in the way. I disabled the virus scan and it still occurred. (I am using Avira Anti Virus)
Something else to note, I also have open office & PDF Complete and they are also freezing in the same manner as MS Office.
My question is; Does anyone else have some possible solutions for my problem or is a complete system over hall in the midst?

View 1 Replies View RelatedHaving upgraded my desktop PC to Office 2010, I need to import three seperate letter template files for use in Word. These were lost during the upgrade but are on my laptop, which still runs Office 2003, as .dot type files and I also have them copied to a memory stick. However, I am at a loss as to how and where to save them into the new programme on my desktop PC. If it makes a difference, I should add that I do not use Libraries and have disabled them.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI now have a new problem, before I managed to open 2007 files by opening Office 2010 and then from inside the application choosing to open a file. The problem I have though is if I just try to open an Office 2007 file then I can't open it, and I can't change the default program to open it. How do you get Office 2010 to open all the Office 2007 files such as word, excel etc?

View 1 Replies View RelatedJust bought a new laptop with Windows7 64bit installed-my first exposure to Windows7. I had Office 2007 installed on my old Dell 32 bit machine. I had also recently pruchased Office 2010 and installed that on my new machine. Now, when I try to open those 32bit 2007 files with 64bt 2011, Iget an error message that "no picture file is available", or words to that effect. When I try to "open with", the only option displayed is "Microsoft Office" with an icon that looks like a picture file. When I try to browse to the proper office program(Excel, for example), there are none of teh Office suite programs displayed, only "Microsoft Office".I can navigate seperately to the proper progran, Excel, etc., and drag the file into the application, and it opens, and all seems to work OK. I "save as" the proper application file, but it still will not open with double-click on the file name.
