No Multiple Display After Installing Win 7
Aug 30, 2009
I have a ACER Aspire 2920Z Laptop which has the graphics card - Mobile Intel(R) 965 Express Chipset.
I recently performed fresh install of Windows 7 on this Laptop. The OS automatically downloaded and installed all the drivers. However after installation, now I am unable to connect to my TV using S-video.
When i connect the s-video, nothing happens. The application does not even detect the connection.
On launching the Intel Graphics application - under Display Devices, it shows the Operating Mode as Single Display. Please refer the attachment.
Before upgrading to Windows 7, it used to show Multiple displays.
Have also attached the Dxdaig information.
Can somebody help with getting the S-video display to work.

As a family we have 4 active hotmail accounts. A while back we were able to have all four accounts displayed on the hotmail login menu. This made it easy because we didn't have to enter the account's hotmail email address. Because all four were displayed, all we had to do was click on an account, enter the password when so prompted and we were logged in.Then, it suddenly disappeared. Now we're back to entering the hotmail account in order to login. So, how do I get it back to the way it was.

I have my Iiyama prolite connected via dvi and another TV via HDMI.As soon as the HDMI is plugged in I lose the DVI display and it transfers to the HDMI. The DVI is no longer detected.Does this mean if I want a second monitor I will have to set it up through VGA?

I have multiple @hotmail.com accounts for personal and business purposes. I used to be able to see them all on the sign in page (very useful!) but now that has suddenly disappeared and there is space for only one email address (plus for some reason I have to type the entire address!) every time I want to access an account.

My mom's laptop is stuck in extended display mode and doesn't give the option for any other display mode. We've tried rebooting and disabling the secondary, external monitor, as well as disconnecting that monitor. She reset the computer from a restore point and that seemed to fix the display, but the computer still thinks it's in extended display mode and won't let that change. The Win + P hotkey also didn't seem to work.

I have a desktop running windows 7 premium and will later purchase a netbook that will come with windows 7 starter. Started is dumb, and i want nothing to do with it. So can I use the same key with the installation on the desktop on the netbook without it causing issues? In other words, I want to install it on both machines. Is there a way to do this without getting another copy or using a keygen?

I've been having quite a few blue screens lately after installing and playing a few games I bought off the Summer Sale not too long ago, and they seem to be jumping all over the place as to what the issue really is. It was mainly when I would play the game "Saint's Row the Third", which would result in a random BSOD between a few minutes to an hour or so of play, if the game itself didn't crash first for some reason, but I just recently installed TF2 for the first time on this new machine of mine and I've gotten several BSOD a day now as a result. Like... Now I get about 3+ crashes a day, and almost always guaranteed a crash whenever I try to run that game, compared to before where it was isolated to SR3 or the occasional one here or there.I got a message about a .sys file related to Avast! Anti-Virus trying to access memory after it was freed in a BSOD message earlier on, and it improved my stability quite a bit after I uninstalled the whole progam, but I've had a few more crashes since I wiped that out earlier today.

I need to install Windows 7 on multiple computers (over 20), overwriting the original install with a customized one with added software. I would use a boot time imaging software to simply load the image but I am concerned about the license key for each computer.Could I update the cloned license information with the license I copied from each computer beforehand? Either by getting it from the documentation that came with the computer or by using a software tool to extract the key from the Windows 7 install that was originally on the computer before I overwrite it with the clone image.

ack when I first set up my system I used a tutorial on this forum that showed how to install the OS on one drive and everything else on the other. The setup required changing the registry settings in audit mode during the initial OS install. I am looking for this tutorial but now can't find it. I even posted in this post, but even those are missing so I can't just trace my posts. I'm confused as to why it is missing and am hoping anybody could lead me back to it.

my HP Pavilion dv9010us. I soled it to a friend, and he installed windows 7, I believe it to be the home 32 bit edition. Windows 7 is not compatible with HP dv9000 ?He brought me the computer and told me the monitor wasn't working. So I checked it out... I swear I've tried almost everything, and I'm about to through it out. I've tried using an external display, still didn't work.

I am working with Windows 7 Professional 32-bit, in a network environment and I am trying to test it with our old GPOs we use on XP machines.I am currently trying to install GPSI's such as Office etc. When I reboot the machine after a GPUpdate I can only see 'Please Wait' while it installs the updates, but I know some of these updates will hang. I won't know what's hanging if I can't see what stage of the update it is at.Is there anyway of customising this area of the startup to display which updates are installing?Like in Windows XP where the box would appear in the middle of the screen saying "Installing Managed Software <Program Name>" etc.

new to these forums as I have run into a recent problem with my display drivers. To start I am running:[CODE]I recently reformatted Windows 7 and now when I try to update either my Intel or Nvidia card, they both fail. The Intel update will most often say that my computer is not compatible, or that it simply fails. On the nvidia update I get the classic "Nvidia Installer failed" after trying both Express, Custom, and clean installs. In my first attempt at this I uninstalled my drivers and then tried installing, even in safe mode, and I could never get it to work. I did another install of windows in another attempt to restart the process but still no solution worked. I have browsed forums for about a day or two now and still have not found a viable option. The games I play do not open and usually crash after their first loading screen, however after I uninstalled the Nvidia drivers I was able to open the games at a low performance on the intel card, which leads me to think this Nvidia bug is the problem.
It is probably important to note that this was the first time I had reformatted since the laptop was purchased about a year ago, and that I also did it in a different format that I wasn't even really sure about doing. Rather than using the Windows install disc that came with the laptop (it is of course misplaced), I used the Windows Restore to go back to factory settings. I'm not sure if this may have played a role, but I am all out of ideas.

It's my parents computer out in the living room, a Compaq Presario SR1135CL.
I installed an EVGA GeForce FX5600 Ultra to enable Aero and so that the computer will run at the monitors native resolution of 1366x768. The generics work fine, but then it only supports up to 1024x768 and no Aero.
Once I install the drivers and reboot the computer it goes to a blank screen after running through the boot screen. I ran updates and then tried it again with the same problem.
After a reboot it recommends startup repair, and startup repair reports that the problem cannot be repaired automatically.
I've installed in safe mode and in compatibility mode, almost any possible form of installing the drivers. I've tried doing it via Device Manager and pointing it to the directory that the installer package is extracted to, all with the same result.
It is important that I get this resolved because the computer is used mainly for work purposes and the low resolution of 1024x768 doesn't meet the requirements of the desktop real estate needed.

I was attempting to install the display driver when I received this error message from Windows Update: "WindowsUpdate_80070006" "WindowsUpdate_dt000"
I searched Google and only found 7 results with no solutions. I attempted to get the drivers from the nVidia website and it informed me that I needed to get the drivers from my computer's manufacturer (HP)-so I went there. The only thing offered on my particular notebook's support page was an update for the Wireless Assistant.
Has anyone else encountered an error when installing nVidia drivers on their laptop or received that particular error from Windows Update?

I am trying to get my wife's new computer up and running without any BSOD or program failures. Note that the system was not initially set up to capture the dmp files so all the earliest ones are missing. I presented the initial problems to the original seller who recommended sticking with MSE and uninstalling Norton 360 and I did that. Another forum suggested that Virtual Memory was the problem and I disabled and restored VM. Still having multiple crashes and I am hoping that I can get real help here. I do note that all the crashes have ntoskrnl.exe in the driver stack although sometimes alone and sometimes with other drivers.[CODE]

We have three medical clinics and the front desk staff float from clinic to clinic depending on their schedule. I only started here a few months ago and I am working on upgrading their Dell xp systems to Windows 7 systems. The problem begins to crop up when say a user named Sally will come in and sit down at this system for the first time.. Well, she needs to login, click on outlook icon, let it find her exchange PST and copy settings to her user profile, then she launches the application for the scanner that she uses to scan in ID's and insurance cards for every patient coming in.. The scanner is set to default settings and needs to be tweaked on color depth and double sided, etc.. Then after that, she needs to launch her Medical EMR application.. and then choose various options in the citrix client, ..TL;DR - Each user needs to spend 20 minutes resetting the defaults at this updated system.
Well this is fine except, I am planning on updating 2 front desk systems at each clinic, the user Sally will need to do all these things EACH time she finds herself sitting down at a system I just swapped out the previous evening. My thought is this, put a single system down in one clinic and let it sit a week giving most of the float users a chance to work on it for a day, setting all of their preferences etc.Once I get a bunch of them with user profiles on the local drive, grab an image of that drive and just deploy that to each system I roll out..Couple issues I am running into:First would be that I would have to register each Windows 7 copy with a new serial, which I have The next issue is, we have a mis-mash of Dell optiplex systems. 330's - 380's even a couple 320's..

I am uploading the dump files and I hope someone can give me a hand I am running a sfc scan right now to test for any problems too. Also got this off the TSG SysInfo Program.

I have attached a second monitor to my laptop which runs Windows 7, however, I need to set different resolutions for different monitors, because the display does not fit to fill the screen on both monitors.
It is also noted that the display is replicated, and I would like to have the effect of having different desktops e.g. being able to use different applications such as debugging code on one monitor on an IDE such as Visual Studio, and, viewing the browser on the other monitor.
Currently it does not seem possible since the behavior seems to be that the same resolution is replicated on both monitors.

I'm having a bit of trouble trying to get two monitors, a small 1024x768 LCD, and a 46" 1920x1080 TV, to display the same wallpaper at different resolutions. My graphics card is older, a Nvidia Quadro FX 1700, but it is perfectly capable of driving both displays at the same time. It's a minor annoyance, but I'd like to get it working if it's possible.

Windows 7 64 turns off the monitor 1 signal after startup. At login, it powers off monitor 1 and powers on monitor 2. Windows 7 behaves as though dual display is working even though monitor 1 does not display. It's the same for single display, the monitor will not work on cable 1 except at startup. Both 'Extend these displays' in Windows Screen Resolution and 'Extend' in the Nvidia Control Panel is selected. And changing which one is primary does not turn on monitor 1. Nor does switching the position of display 1 in either (ex.left/right/top/bottom).GeForce 8400 GS; Dual Monitor Solution 59 pin (DMS-59) to 2 VGA adapter -tried two of these adapter cables.atest Driver: 306.23 - installed a clean reset install of the latest Nvidia driver released last week.Same Resolution: 2 of the 4 monitors I have tried have the exact same 'recommended' resolution (1280X 1024), both 60Hz, and even chose 16 bit color for both instead of 32 to reduce resources.
Linux worked: Dual display worked immediately when I tried it in Ubuntu 10. So, it's not the hardware. It works in Ubuntu 12 too but not properly -it won't transfer windows across displays. My Windows 7 64 is an upgrade from Vista 64. One person in another forum with the same problem resolved theirs by reinstalling Windows 7. But another got the same problem only after a fresh clean install of Windows 7 64 with the same GeForce 8400 GS and DMS-59 when it had previously worked in Vista. Since installing a Second 1TB HDD into my system, I've been encountering brief lag before any action performed. For example, clicking Internet Explorer (Stored on HDD1) will completely Freeze the system for about 4 - 6 seconds, before proceeding. Also, clicking on a song or a video to play in Windows Media Player (Music and video stored on HDD2 and Program stored on SDD1) will also incur a 4 - 6 Second system freeze. Also since installation, my games have been slower and overall perfomance have dropped. I can constantly hear my HDD spinning up, asif it is idle every second I don't use it.
My stystem:
Code:
AMD Quad-core 3.0Ghz
8GB DDR3 RAM
40GB SSD / 2 x 1TB HDD
1GB ASUS EAH5670 DDR5 Graphics Card

Is there an easier way to accomplish this on my laptop? I took an XP image from the first primary partition and copied it to the 2nd partition. When I rebooted to the second partition I thought wow this is just great!. My only problem is when I found out that the working OS saw the booted 2nd partition as the next drive letter and not C drive. Argggg...
How do I get around this? It's easy on my desktop PC because it has two drives and I keep XP on the 1st partition on both drives. But this seems to be a problem on the 1 drive laptop. People recommend on the internet to use EASYBCD but will this really solve this problem? What is the easiest solution? I am open to entering command line arguments. Could manually switching the "active" partition solve this problem using Gparted?
Once I get this solved I would then like to install Windows 7 and also protect the first two versions of XP. I already have my XP apps set on the first partition so I hope to keep that as-is. What is the best way?
