No Sound After Install - (Code 12)
Dec 5, 2009
i just installed win 7 ultimate 32-bit and have no more sound. i fried my onboard sound so i used an old soundcard(this was before the install) and forgot where the driver is. i found out it is an OEM compaq soundcard made by creative called audio pci 5200(?).
with some research i tried to install drivers but its incompatible with win 7. i also tried the windows update and it found Creative AudioPCI (ES1371,ES1373) (WDM), but could not install it. checking the properties it said it does have enough free resources and i need to disable another device. (?)
edit:[ This device cannot find enough free resources that it can use. (Code 12)
If you want to use this device, you will need to disable one of the other devices on this system.]
it shows the name up there (Creative...) under sound, video and game controllers in the Device Manager.

Well, I recently updated my Windows 7 x64 Ultimate to SP1 (as of about half an hour ago), and I've had one noticeable problem: my sound doesn't work.
This means that unfortunately, I cannot hear the sound of a Ferrari 458 Italia starting up as I log in, and even more so I cannot blast Rush louder than a sonic boom.
Well, here's the deal: Windows 7 reports to me that there are no input or output sound devices installed. So, I go into device manager. Device manager tells me that "Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The drivers may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)" for the audio devices (HDMI) on my ATI Radeon HD 5700s AND my onboard Realtek ALC889, along with "Microsoft Trusted Audio Drivers". I uninstalled the driver with device manager and restarted. They showed up again, with code 39. I tried updating the drivers with windows update. Nothing. I installed drivers from the Gigabyte website. Nothing. Still that code 39 shows up. I even tried a "UpperFilters" and "LowerFilters" registry key fix. That didn't work either.
I tried uninstalling SP1 and trying the aforementioned fixes, and nothing. Same issue. Reinstalled SP1, and same issue still! Somewhere along the line, "Microsoft Trusted Audio Drivers" stopped showing up in computer management.
I would do a system restore, BUT the most recent backup was in december 2010, since restore points have been disabled for some strange reason. Out of desperation (not being able to hear "The Fifth Order of Angels" ), I tried a system restore, but that failed since I don't have enough space on my boot disk (an 80 gig ssd).
Even more intriguingly, my creative fatal1ty USB headset (older one) works fine. I get sound in and out through that guy. It's just the 5770s and the ALC889.
I decided I'm going to wait this out. If I don't see a hotfix in the next month, that's it. I'm reimaging or reinstalling.
Otherwise, do you have any input with regard to this matter? I'm going to test the sound card from a live cd and see if that does anything, but I'm more than confident the ALC889 is in good working order.

Also " You need to disable other device to work this one. " (I have written in my own language...)
Please help me as I cannot enjoy Sound on Windows 7. I have installed Driver by Dell for this one and it says its right after checking Online also.

I recently built the computer that I am on and installed Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit in December.Everything's been working great and no updates have had issues installing until SP1 came out today. It fails every time with error code 80004005, unknown error. I am fairly certain that it is due to the Windows Mail hack, but any attempt to restore the files back to the original versions (I've tried copying them from another machine and sfc /scannow) have not resolved the issue. On another note, I've read that the same error came up when people did service pack installs for Vista. I have attempted many of the "best practice" fixes for these cases - disabling services, antivirus, startup entries, etc., but this has not resolved the issue, either.

I have an older desktop that I want to upgrade to Windows 7 (Clean Install).
I also have a new Samsung laptop that came with a Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit SP1 install disk, which I used to do a clean system install on the laptop. I also have full C:Partition images to go back to at any time I need to.
Now, my question is this: If I purchase a license key, can I install Win 7 on my desktop system, using the disk that came with my laptop, and then activate it with the new license key?

i had to reinstall my windows 7 64x dell inspiron 1750 laptop using my windws 7 home premium disc that came with my laptop when i bought it because it was in a constant starup repair loop. the disc worked find until i got to the part where it said "expanding windows files." it was stuck at 0% after a whilr and then a message popped up that said error code:0x8007045D. during the time when it was expanding windows files i could hear my disc running, but after a while it stops.when i tried running the disc again, the error code message didn't pop up, but the expanding windows files was stuck at 0% forever. when i tried turning on my computer without using the disc, it goes directly from the "finding window files" screen to startup repair. it tells me that it can't fix the problem and i click on a link that tells me that the problem is that my boot configuration is corrupt. i have also ried cleaning my disc and it doesn't look like there's any stratches on it.

Next i tried to do clean install with windows 7 from a usb this goes fine untill it asks for missing cd/dvd driver i have found away round this which is to select cancel then when back on install now screen swap the usb to another port and continue. If you just want the solution page down .. it's in this blue
New shiny windows 7 disk arrives. ...... doesn't want to install ...
keep getting error message 0x80070570 when Windows 7 is expanding files:
Quote: Windows cannot install required files error 0x80070570
The file may be corrupt or missing.. Make sure all files required for installation are available and restart installation. Spend an hour googling .. people suggest RAM problems .. I know my RAM is good but spend an hour or two running MEMTEST ...
Then I see a lot of people reduced to trying to install from a USB key .... great .... borrow my neighbours 4GB Cruzer, follow instructions, ... and bork it in the process of not installing the OS.
So eventually I call Microsoft and speak to a very nice lady in India who runs me through a dozen or so workarounds for this .. I'm pressing control +F keys left, right and centre, taking out RAM sticks, disabling EVERYTHING in BIOS.
Always the same thing:
Quote: Windows cannot install required files error 0x80070570
The file may be corrupt or missing.. Make sure all files required for installation are available and restart installation. So after maybe two hours on the phone with her she decided to report the issue to the second line team. I'm told they will call me back today as they don't work weekends (all this took place Friday up til now).
EASY SOLUTION:
I don't wait weekends for answers (nor do I usually need to call tech support). One thing we had noticed is that the repair console refused to lauch because it said there was an install in progress. But the support didn't pick up on this and it wasn't until Saturday morning I tried what turned out to be the easiest solution ever.
When you see the error "0x80070570 can't access files" on install click --> Cancel ---> you will be returned to the "Install Now" startup screen and - WITHOUT REBOOTING - just re-start the install.
Second time round it went smooth as clockwork and installed fine. I have not tried to reproduce this error as I just want a working system:
Be interested to know if this easy solution works for anyone else. I informed Microsoft of it when their engineer called today and they are going to look into it. They are aware of the install issue but never heard of this fix before.

savvy, and am having troubles installing Windows 7 on my laptop. I purchased the software, downloaded the .iso file from Microsoft's site, then burned the .iso file to a disc. Once on the disc it showed a few different folders and a setup option. I launched the setup option, which brought up the install window for windows 7. I chose clean install because upgrade is not an option for the current version of vista that I have, and while it is copying the files, after about 3% it gives me the error code 0x80070241 and says something about not being able to copy all of the needed files and that some of them may be corrupted. I don't know if this is a problem with my computer or with the disc that I've burned.

When I try to install W7SP1, I get an error message after it tries to install after restarting after having downloaded it in Windows Update. It's error code 0x800f0826. IT used to be 0x80071a9, but I fixed that I think.
Note: My laptop does not have a built in disc reader, because of its design, nor did it come with any W7 CD's.

My computer was suffering from random bsods and viruses before. I atributed the bsods to viruses, but after reinstalling windows 7, I found that the bsods still happened. It seems to happen when installing drivers, or running prime95. Booting into safe mode allows me to pretty much do anything.
When crashing, it does a slow crash, where I can move the mouse around, but the startbar and any other programs dont respond. Explorer then crashes, followed shortly by a bluescreen.

Just inherited a pc, and bought a brand new 1tb hdd yesterday to install windows on. I was foolish at first by not changing any of the bios settings (was a long time since I have done an install) and just left it as it was. I got through to installing windows and it stopped at expanding files with the above error code, which I have heard is really commonWindows cannot install required files. The file may be corrupt or missing. Make sure all files required or installation are available, and restart the installation. Now I am certain there is nothing wrong with the DVD, as it is the same one that has been used on two other PC's. I tried turning it off and restarting, that was when I got another error load up - Bootmgr is missing! After this I restarted it and changed the bios settings to boot from the DVD drive. I tried doing a repair on this through the disc.
Went through all the settings and typed Bootrec.exe/REBUILDBCD in command prompt but that came back fine. I tried clicking startup repair after this but it did not restart, so I just went through the motions and restarted it manually as by this point I was getting frustrated. Upon restart I went through and booted from the DVD, and it went straight through. This time I tried re-installing but deleted all the partitions on the drive which had appeared since trying to install. However the same error message has come up again

I have tried to install this update six times today (07/05/12) after it was flagged as an important update this morning. Looking at my update history it also failed to instal on the 18th October last year but it has not bothered me since and i have not noticed it until now. Of the seven attempts I had the following error codes from earliest to latest : 800B0100, 80246007, 80010108, 8024200D, 8024200D, 8024200D, 8024200D. I have followed advice from MS running KB947821 and FIX IT also disabled my Norton 360 firewalls and auto protect but to no avail. Also I do not have a DVD with Windows 7 as it was not supplied with my PC and I don't want to restore my computer and lose all my installed software.

I have Dell Inspiron N5010. I was using windows 7 home basic 32 bit os. I wanted to change it to windows 7 ultimate. So I have inserted windows 7 Installation disk into CD drive. Then I went to through the installation and I chose the Custom as the installation type. When the partition page appeared, I have formatted all the disks including C which contains windows files. Then I got 298 GB unallocated space. Then I split them in to 4 partitions. Then I have selected one partition to install the windows. Then installation started .
Copying windows files succeeded. Expanding Windows files(0%) is still be like that for 20 minutes. Then I got the error message like: "Windows cannot install required files. Error code 0x80070017". And I thought it would be the installation disk problem. But it works fine in other systems. I tried several disks. No use. Also I got another problem. When system boots I tried to enter into BIOS using F2 and F12 which was mentioned in screen. But it did not enter into the BIOS, Instead it goes to the installation.
