i just upgraded (?) my desktop PC to Win 7 Home Premium 64 bit from Win XP Pro 32 bit. The system does not see the installed creative Soundblaster 5.1 digital sound card. I cannot load the driver. Any clues? It all worked fine before the "upgrade?"

I have a Toshiba Satellite laptop that I just installed a new hard drive and Windows 7 in. The problem is I have lost all sound. It shows the sound device is working fine and all drivers are up to date but no sound. I did notice that for a sound device, instead of speakers it shows headphones but they dont work either.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI got a new computer custom built a few months ago, but it came with Windows 7 32 bit, so I decided to wipe it clean and install 64 bit, for gaming purposes.It installed fine, games ran a lot smoother etc, sound was working at this point.The sound still worked up until a few days ago, when the headset I was using had broken. I ordered a new one from Amazon and while I waited for it to arrive I thought I'd just use my phone earphones in my computer.Considering the sound worked, the same day on my headset, but didn't work with my earphones, I'm sure you can imagine how confused I was. Because the headset was only physically broken, the sound was still working through it, and it sounded perfectly fine and clear, but when I used my earphones it didn't work at all.After some looking around, I discovered that the Realtek HD audio manager wasn't even installed on my computer, even though the previous headset had worked.. which confused me even more.So I installed it, plugged in my phone earphones, and it still didn't work.At this point I wasn't too bothered, because I thought that maybe it was because turtle beach headsets had their own sound-card inside the box that controls the volume, so I waited.
Only to have them have the exact same problem as my phone earphones, they didn't work on my computer, at all. I done all the usual stuff, checked that it was the default device on playback devices, which lead me to the other issue, my computer hasn't even picked them up as a device. I thought it was okay though, because the headset (Turtle beach x12's) are designed for xbox, but are compatible with PC (Which I have confirmed by using a laptop, they work on that). My old headset (Turtle Beach Foxtrot) actually appeared in the playback devices as "Turtle Beach Foxtrot" which I set as the default device, but with this new headset, nothing appears, just "Speakers".I've re-installed the realtek drivers and manager so many times, trying different versions, I've updated my chipset, checked nothing is conflicting in Device manager (There are no yellow symbols on anything), I've made sure audio is enabled in Services, I made sure audio is enabled in my BIOS, changing it to AC97 instead of HD, also changed the settings in Realtek HD audio manager to AC97. I've made sure the ports I'm plugging the headset into are working, by plugging my mouse into the same USB port. I've tried plugging them into the back panel, tried every possible combination.I've even made sure that the old headset I used didn't have its own sound card, because I thought maybe the sound card had been disabled inside my computer.The only thing it points to, is something being disabled inside my machine, which I haven't checked yet, because I wanted it to be a last resort.

After installing Windows 7 in a Mini Mac I have no Sound (High Definition Audio Device).
I have a Dell Dimension 4600 and recently had a clean install of Windows 7 done by a large box store (I won't list names at this point). They told me that the system was compatible however, when I got it home and several hundred dollars later, we have no sound. I am a little techy, but have not been able to locate a driver to work, The store has been unresponsive since they have been paid.

View 7 Replies View RelatedWorking on a client's computer that was blue screening with Vista 32 bit HP desktop gl309aa. She cannot find the original Vista install CD. I determined that the culprit was probably the wifi driver, and hoped to install updated drivers for that, plus video card and sound card drivers. After much fiddling with the system, I finally got it started through Startup Repair long enough to install the video driver. I had to go through 2 sets of memory diagnostics to start it at all, since even safe mode was not working. When I went to do the sound card driver, it required an uninstall first, so I did that, and foolishly went along with the restart to finish the process. Lacking a sound card driver, it blue screened all over again. Tried everything, including many times with HP Recovery, but every time it blue screens before any process can complete. On top of this, while working on it, she had a power "flash" for a second, and now the system is missing BOOTMGR so it won't even try to boot into safe mode or anything else. I have the drivers on flash but cannot install them. I've decided to forget Vista (awful system anyway) and give her Windows 7 instead. Much more stable, and her data is backed up in case she loses it.
am I going to have any problems installing the Windows 7 if the computer still thinks it has no driver for the sound card? And is there a way to install the file before or during the Windows 7 installation so it will go smoothly? Again, BSOD every time I start HP recovery so there is no way to use that, and we will have a new Windows 7 CD to begin this process.

View 2 Replies View Relatedi just installed win 7 ultimate 32-bit and have no more sound. i fried my onboard sound so i used an old soundcard(this was before the install) and forgot where the driver is. i found out it is an OEM compaq soundcard made by creative called audio pci 5200(?).
with some research i tried to install drivers but its incompatible with win 7. i also tried the windows update and it found Creative AudioPCI (ES1371,ES1373) (WDM), but could not install it. checking the properties it said it does have enough free resources and i need to disable another device. (?)

it shows the name up there (Creative...) under sound, video and game controllers in the Device Manager.
My sound card doen't seem to support 5.1 surround sound. Can I install an additional sound card?
