I have just started using a new Windows 7 laptop. In Windows Live Mail Version 2011 (15.4.3538.513), when a new mail is downloaded from the IMAP server, there is no sound or popup notification. I think that all necessary sound / notification settings are properly checked in Windows Live Mail > Mail > Options. My sound is ok. I even get a windows default sound, when some error is notified in Windows Live Mail. I have been using OE (under XP) and WinMail (under Vista), and this problem does not happen there.
From the Internet I downloaded the sound that I want, Master I have mail for you, and "gotmail07" is in my, Recent Downloads. In Control Panel, Sounds, I clicked on, New Mail Notification, (which has a sound icon in front of it), I imported "gotmail07" and under, Sound Scheme, the system automatically entered, Windows Default, Modified, which I saved. When the test button is clicked the sound does come on BUT there is NO sound when new mail arrives when Yahoo mail is opened. Also, when Yahoo email is opened I went to Tools, Internet Options, Advance, and there IS a check mark for both, Play system sounds and under Media, Play sounds in web pages. Also, there is NO icon for when new mail arrives in the lower right area where the time & date appears.
I've used a wav file from SNL ("Candy Gram") to announce the receipt of e-mails, in Win-98, Win2K, and XP. Now, when I substitute this file for use as my mail notification in Win-7, it works fine, once, and then stops. It then defaults to the original sound.

When I change a file and then close it I get no sound when the pop up ask if i want to make changes. I tried different things in control panel under "sounds" but was unable to fix this? I assigned a sound to "menu-pop up" and "close program" but when, for instance, I open a note pad document, change a letter and close it a window opens asking me if I want to save changes but I still don't here a sound like I do in XP?
I get a sound exactly like email notification every hour. I have turned off every possible source of notification sounds I can locate, but cannot stop this hourly chime. I have noticed that rec task is scheduled hourly in task scheduler but cannot fine any indication that it has a notification button. I can, and do, mute the speakers for most of the day but when listening to audio/movies the sound comes through the speakers loud and clear.
I don't remember the exact date, but before, whenever I startup my laptop, I always have the Dolby notification icon in the bottom right. But now, I don't know what I did, the notification icon never appears for Dolby. The settings for that icon is set to "Show" but whenever I click on it again, it says "This notification is currently not active" Eventhough, I'm pretty sure it's on.I tried reinstalling, but I keep getting error messages once it's reinstalled. So I have to use System Restore, and this has been driving me nuts...and this keeps going in circles.I think there is something wrong with the registry of this program. When I go to the program location, I have a Dolby Profile Selector, Dolby Profile Editor, and Dolby Profile Launcher...I am so confused now, as I always had the Notification Icon available.I can add Dolby to the Startup Folder, but when turning on the laptop, the entire Dolby profile pops up when Windows 7 boots, and that was not what happened before?
c\windows\system32\hkcmd.exe pops up after every login and says "make sure you typed the name correctly and then try again."How do I remove it. How specifically do I remove it in the registry or where?
i have a fresh installed os windows 7 ultimate 64 bit. And everytime i open a browser cmd keeps on popping up with but instantly closes..
i have already did a Full System Scan with my Antivirus kaspersky 2012, Did a Full System Scan using MalwareByte's Anti-Malware, Did a Full System Scan using SuperAntiSpyware found some infected files but still the cmd popup thingy is still there heres a copy of my hijackthis log file..
I have a new eMachines running Windows 7. On each startup a popup appears asking if WkUFind.exe should make changes to the computer. either newly installed 3rd party software or Microsoft Picture It program. I don't believe Picture It is installed.
I've found WkUFind in a Program Files folder. Trying to eliminate this pop.
I've just reinstalled my Windows 7 (purely for speed), but while my previous installation of Real Player had no problem downloading live streams for recording, I'm stuck this time around to figure out how to get past a new error msg.I go to File/Open & put in the stream name - this particular one is shown in the msg below. When I try to connect I immediately get a popup box with this msgI've tried it with 3 different versions of Real Player but get the identical msg every time,s not necessarily the Player's settings.I have a Belkin Play router & am using Microsoft SE as my antivirus program and use both Firefox & IE9 as browsers.I've no understanding of UDP/TCP & ports etc & really don't want to start meddling with them until I know that's what I really have to do, & also get specific instructions etc.
My job involves juggling six different pieces of internal software and attention to detail. It's easy to forget that I need to check my email for customer messages each half hour (or thereabouts). The company wants me to use gmail so I can't configure incoming messages to make a sound. Even if I could, it would be better just to do a scheduled check.
Cnet has a ton of reminders and clocks; too many to sort through. Anyone have a suggestion for something that will make a simple sound and pop up a message box on top of whatever I'm doing? I use Windows 7 Professional 64bit
Ok, there is a program that I use a lot, and I am wondering if it is possible to turn off that annoying UAC popup window that comes up every time I open it.
lately on startup the User Account Control window appears and it asks: Do you want to allow the following program from an unknown publisher to make changes to this computer?
Program name: ISUSPM.exe Publisher : Unknown File origin : Hard drive on this computer Program location : "C:ProgramFiles(x86)CommonFilesInstallshieldUpdateServiceISUSPM.ex e" - Startup
I went too this location on my computer and this program is installed but lately on startup it asks me do i want too click on yes or no too allow this program too make changes to my computer..why is it doing this now when it didnt before and what do i do? Ive clicked on both yes and no lately and it still is appearing on my startup.
I installed Windows 7 a few months ago. I started having problems soon after. So I reinstalled Win 7, Friday. The same problems continued. One that my son found was when we installed Spy Sweeper. That made it impossible to switch between users, so we uninstalled it. The other major problem has been the Developer's Tools window that pops up when I try to type any reply or information into any program on the internet. I can't get rid of it by hitting the X. After about an hour on the computer, that stops. Does anyone have an idea on what could cause this?
I have 3 computers on a network and 1 printer and all work great , access the internet etc.The win 7 computer has a Windows Security pop up box asking for a Network username and password.I did not set a password and do not care to have one . I just want to stop the box from coming up.So far I have changed all the security selections that I can find pertaining to the network and nothing changes.
In the past two days a tremendously annoying popup window has started showing up about every minute and a half. It is labeled "Xmarks Authentication" and it asks for a username and a password. I don't have any idea where it came from. I have run a McAfee scan with no result, and have searched the hard drive for "Xmarks*" and found nothing.
Upon every boot I get a auto play popup for my ext hdd. All I see is stuff telling me to turn off all of the auto play for all devices. Either all or nothing it seems. The ext hdd isn't listed under devices in the auto play (where u can pick settings for individual devices) which I found out here : What would keep a device from appearing under "Devices" in AutoPlay?
If you have connected a volume device to your computer (for example, a USB flash drive or external hard drive), that device will not appear in the Devices section of AutoPlay. AutoPlay only lists non-volume devices (for example, some digital cameras, video cameras, and phones).
This is because these devices don't use a standard file system and AutoPlay cannot browse the contents of these devices to see what types of files they contain. So is there a clever or obvious way I'm not thinking of to disable auto play for a external hard drive that is constantly connected to the PC?
I'm looking for a solution for stopping the Network Type PoPup which appears after changing the network (eg. new UMTS network etc.)I found this how-to: Unidentified Networks - Set as Private or Public which automatically defines an undefined Network as punlic or private. This is a fisrt step but unfortunatelly the Popup still appears.I need this for unattened systems that does not allow user interaction and block my network for this system.
BALLOONS POPUP WANTED..A few years back I used a software that would produce a balloon popup when the mouse passed on a file or folder in wich you could detail the use or content of any file or folder.
I am running Windows 7 32bit on Biostar TH67B mobo. I have a 1 tb E: drive and a 500 gb drive split into two partitions C: and D:, one of which is 30 gigs C: that I keep my operating system on. I have this partition set up for os use only, and have directed everything else to my E: drive. This setup was working well, but I noticed that my installed games and some other programs were still directing their saves and other info to my C: documents folder and that partition was filling up fast. Seemed simple enough to just windows point these programs to use the documents folder on my E: drive. After doing that, everything continued to work well. Until I rebooted the pc. Now, I'm getting "Access violation at address 00404BFE in module 'BiosNotice.exe'. Read of address 00000000." I wasn't able to find anything about what this error means other than to just set the program to not run on startup. Which imo, hides the problem, not fixing it.
When ever I try to run anything, install anything, or do anything, it does that stupid popup thing, asking for my permission, asking if I would let that program modify my system. How can I disable that BS? It's annoying me!!!
A colleague at work has this really weird thing going when logging in to Windows 7 professional 64bit.While he is typing his password, a window from the ease of access center pops up uninvited. Also I'm interested in removing the ease of access button from the login screen altogether.I only found 1 thing on google about it, but only for removing the button, I found nothing about the popup.
I got a popup window that says your hard drive failure is eminent backup your computer. so I created a backup disk uninstalled windows 7 reinstalled 7 booted up and got the same message The message reads disk drive failure is eminent back up your computer press f1 to continue. My question is how do I get rid of this message. Tried Dereks boot and knuke and was only able to wipe 15% of the hard drive.
Ive been looking and looking, but i cant seem to find any option where to change the font of the menus and pop-ups like the ones in the picture below..
I don't know how the default font got overwritten by this ugly one, but it sure ain't pretty .
I have a laptop that has the HP simplepass installed. Its pretty good, but everytime I enter a website with a login, a popup with the fingerprint icon popups in the top left corner of the screen. I think its annoying because i do not want that pop up coming if it blocks the back button. Furthermore, i do not have an account with all the websites that i go to. al/Temp/moz-screenshot.png[/IMG]I want to still be able to use the function while entering websites, but i do not want it to pop up everytime.
My Windows 7 Toshiba laptop no longer provides popups when I plug in an external device via my available USB ports, ie: my external HDD for backups, my camera memory stick to upload my photo's etc.. when I plug in I get the audio noise which confirms something has been plugged in but I no longer get a pop up to invite me to take appropriate action like start a backup or upload my photo's. This process worked fine until a few weeks ago now nothing?
