Network Card Driver Problem
Dec 14, 2009
When I start the computer, everything goes fine until the OS starts loading network connection. I get the "device plug in sound" and then everything freezes completely. I have to wait about ten seconds and after "device unplugged sound" the computer works, but only for five second or even less. This continues for about 10-20 minutes every time I boot up the computer.
The problem does NOT occur if I plug of the lan cable. That is not the solution though because the problem continues immediately after I connect the lan cable back. I have tried system restore, installed different network drivers but with no luck. What could be the problem, maybe it is some hardware problem?

I have a network card that doesn't have a Windows 7 driver but some googling dug up a driver that made it work with a side affect of freezing the computer every now and again. Maybe once a day max.
My problem now though is it randomly decided to go haywire today. The computer won't last more than a minute now without freezing. I have it disabled at the moment so I can use the computer but whenever I try to enable it again, it's frozen about a minute later.
I didn't change anything, didn't do anything at all, it just started happening. I'm not sure what to check, what to do at all really since it was working fine before.

my brother's hdd in his laptop was going bad, it kept failing to boot. so i replaced it with another one. when i turned the laptop back on it started installing all the drivers for his hardware (windows was already installed on the 2nd hdd) and prompted me to reboot. after i did windows failed to start several times. i re-installed windows from scratch, and now his graphics card isn't showing up in device manager and windows cant find a driver for the network or ethernet card.
his specs:
gateway
windows 7 professional x64
ati mobility radeon hd 4250
broadcom bcm943225hm (network card)
amd phenom II x4 n9790

My rig uses a Centrino Advanced-N 6230 wireless mini half-card. It reports the correct name except within the wireless network list. Instead of 6230 it reports 6320. I searched the registry to see if I could find the error, but nothing found. It's only a nuisance, and a minor one at that.

This sounds really noobie of me but is it possible to improve local network transfer speed by adding a 2nd network card. I was planning to connect one exclusively for lan transfers and another one hooked to a separate wireless router.
Right now only a maximum of 3 users can stream SD videos off the PC before it gets a little choppy.
The pc in question runs on windows 7 and it's board has built in gigabit, I happen to have a spare gigabit card.

I have a "SanDisk Ultra CompactFlash" 4GB card and an internal card reader (HP desktop). When I insert the card into the reader, the green light above the slot turns on as if it recognizes the device, but it doesn't show up. Device Manager says that the driver is installed and working properly, and I have uninstalled it,reinstalled it, and restarted my computer. A system restore isn't really an option because it isn't my computer.

I've been having this problem ever since Windows Vista 64bit, a problem I've been trying to find a solution to for the last 3 weeks. It's REALLY frustrating to realize that the problem was the network card. I was using a RT2561 branded as a Sabrent wireless card. This card would work fine in normal use, downloading, but when it came to uploading or anything JAVA, it would crash and hardlock the computer. So I thought it might be the OS, then I installed Windows 7 and I still have this problem, even after switching hdds/memory. The problem lies within the network card because once it's removed, theres no crashing.
So I want to ask, what wireless network cards do you guys use that work with Windows 7 64bit. I know there are a few RT61 chipsets out there (Linksys WMP54G) but the RT61 doesn't work well with my machine as it has more than 4GB of memory (article: Ralink RT61 or (RT256x/RT266x) causes freezing Windows 7 x64)
Sad but funny, I went to the store to buy a bunch of network cards to try, and low and behold, most of them use the RT61 chipset . Unfortunately, my location doesn't permit any wired connection. What network cards have you guys found compatible? Do you have 4GB Ram+?

Card is a 3com pci card - 3Com EtherLink 10/100 PCI NIC (3C905-TX).
Now, I have just decided to go 64bit, and all is installed driver wise aside from this card.
So, I have just downloaded a 3c90x1.exe package, (the site I have it from suggests it is 64bit compatible), but when I try to run the exe i get an error suggesting that it is not compatible with the version I am running.
Can anyone offer any suggestions on this please. or a location for a verified working 64bit driver?

Hi guys a couple of months ago I tried Windows 7 but I had to change back to vista due to a Asus P5K inbuilt network card problem, for some bizarre reason it would restart my computer randomly when using anything heavy on bandwidth.
Does anyone know whether or not this has been solved?

I have recently installed windows 7 (64) and wanted to put more RAM in. I started off with 2Gb and added 1 Gb of ram to make 3Gb (No problems Here). I then added another 2Gb of ram bringing it up to 5 Gb (Now the fun begins!)
Windows 7 runs fine and I can play games with the 5Gb...but... I can't seen to get on the internet! It comes up saying unidentified network! I take out the 2Gb and everything is ok again and i can get back online and everything.
I was told to make sure all my drivers are updated which I did and they are all up to date.

My brother has a laptop - wireless network card just stopped . I am going to:
1. Uninstall network card and reboot to see if the system picks it back up.
2. Update the drivers.
3. Check for Malware.
If they don't work then I'll do a restore point. If all the above doesn't work what would you suggest before getting a new network card - presuming it can be replaced and not an on board type ?? System recovery ?

I'm connected to a Router/homenetwork using a REALTEK PCIe GBE Family Controller and computer specs are in my profile.

Each time I put the PC on, I can't use Internet before I deactive then reactive the network card. When it's run fine, I have a domestic network but when I start the Pc I have two networks, the domestic one and a new public one.
As soon as I desactive - reactive the network card, the public network desappear and all is ok as long as the PC stay on..
I'm a brand new user of Seven so perhaps it's just a simple tune I didn't do..

I'm having problems with my wireless networkcard. Sometimes i can connect to the Internet with it but at other times, I am simply unable to connect. Windows detects that there is a problem between my computer, the router, and the Internet. There are five other devices in my house that are able to connect flawlessly. I am currently only able to connect using a wi-fi adapter but this soultuion is awkward as i have only two available USB ports.

Network card can not be enabled. I tried with several wireless network cards, nothing changes. The problem arose after the computer's motherboard replacement. Everything is working as before, except for a wireless network card.Where would be a problem in Windows

I have a D-Link AirPlus Xtreme G+ (DWL-G520+) network card but after installing the Windows7 Release Candidate, can't get any drivers to work for the card.
Does anyone know of any drivers or firmware that can sort this? Can't see anything on the D-link site and tried both the latest G520 and 520+ drivers (they don't show anything for G520+)
It is the 64bit version i have downloaded - ordered the Home version, but that's not released until October in the UK.

There are several threads about the network card going to sleep when a laptop is idle, but all of them I've seen just suggest the same things regarding various settings. I still have the same problem despite having set the following settings...
In "Change Plan Settings"
-----------------------------
Dim display: 5 min
Turn off display: 10 min
Sleep: Never
[Code].....
Are there any other settings I've missed that could be causing my card to shut down as soon as my display cuts off? Or is this a bug in Windows 7 Pro?

My network cards drop the connection and are listed as "unplugged" every time I game online, regardless of the game. I have 2 internal Realtek PCI GBE family controllers on an ABIT IP35Pro mobo. There is no set instance of why/when this happens only that it is completely random and I get the usual Event ID's in the system log after it happens:
The TCP/IP NetBIOS Helper service was successfully sent a stop control.
The reason specified was: 0x40030011 [Operating System: Network Connectivity (Planned)]
The Computer Browser service was successfully sent a stop control.
The reason specified was: 0x40030011 [Operating System: Network Connectivity (Planned)]
There are no other events, Application or Security that happen right before these events other than MS Application experience service entered the stopped state in system log. It could happen every few hours during the day to every 5-10 minutes after midnight( this is what is very weird since it did not do this prior to midnight this many times ). I sit behind a uverse router with it passing through a gateway from 2 powerline adapters. I have no problems downloading torrents, watching movies or anything l else strenuous on the network, but gaming. The only fix I have found is to disable the card and re-enable every time.
I have tried the fixes below with no luck.
1) Disabled Computer Browser service
2) Disabled TCP/Ip Netbios Service
3) Updated Realtek drivers
4) Rolled back Realtek drivers
5) Changed IP address
6) Reset TCP/IP Stack
7) Completely blew out Windows 7 Home and installed a fresh Windows 7 Ultimate I had
8) Disabled windows 7 from shutting these cards off
9) changed power management to never sleep the system

If I update the BIOS on my Intel motherboard to any one of the three most recent BIOS's, my add-in Intel network card (located in one of the pci slots) shows up as a removable device in the taskbar (Much like a USB device; for example a passport removable hard drive or flash drive). However, the motherboard's network controller does not exhibit this behavior.
Intel support is telling me that it can vary as to how the devices are detected by Windows and that this is normal. I have never ever seen a pci slot card being detected as a removable device in the 20 years that I have been using Windows, so I was wondering if what they are telling me is a valid statement? It seems kind of scary that this is happening.

I previously used win XP pro and my Internet connection worked perfectly.
After installing windows 7 PRO x86 i cannot connect to the Internet.
when windows tries do diagnose the problem it just says "check cables" but the cables are in mint condition!
I have checked that SSL and TLS protocols are enabled as windows advised me.
I have tried to move the network-card to another PCI bus but still not working.
I have also tried to disable the component and then Enabled it again
i use a Realtek RTL8168B/8111B Family PCI-E Ethernet NIC.
under "devices" in the control panel it says the component is working, but apparently it's not.

I recently build a Frankenstein desktop, or at least that's what I'm calling. I started out replacing the motherboard in a HP Pavillion p6130y desktop.
After some research I found that the stock motherboard as pretty outdated so I decided to go aftermarket. I wanted to replace as little as possible but now the only original parts are the dvd drive and network card. The network card has to screws on the back to attach an antenna and is a PCI1x card.
Current Problem: I now have a problem where after installing the card and Windows 7 Professional , I can see the list of available wireless networks including my own.
But, I cannot connect to any of them even though my own network has full signal strength.

I've formatted the laptop and it worked great, but I saw that there was no wireless card and opened it to insert. I put a card from Dell laptop and when I turn on laptop, I got this error:
Error 1802 Unauthorized network card is plugged in - power off and remove the miniPCI network card.
I searched the internet and I saw that for this error, solution is updating/flashing bios with "whitelist removal". I did it and turn on the laptop and it worked normally, until I unplug the charger. Whenever I unplug it from the charger, laptop shut down immediately, just like it is without the battery in it. I tried to get back the original bios, but still the same. It shut down in Windows (7 32bit), in Safe Mode and in Bios. So the laptop is running great when I plug charger, battery shows a 100%. Previously battery held around 2-3h.

A few days ago I did a clean install of Windows 7. Now I have a problem. The computer is a wireless 'client'. It has a Realtek RTL8168D/8111D PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet NIC (NDIS 6.20).
When I bring up Device Manager and expand 'Network adapters' I see "Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller".
When I expand 'Other devices' I see "! Network Controller" (Note the exclamation point.) Double click on that and I see "The driver for this device is not installed. (Code 28). When I click on Update driver I get a message Can't find a driver. I have tried many times with different source folders and files and nowhere is a driver found.
I have gone to MSIs driver web page and downloaded the Realtek PCI-E Ethernet Driver for Windows 7 32/64 bit "realtek_pcielan_7_nb.zip", extracted the files and still no joy. (M/B is MSI G41M with Intel E7400)
There is a wireless icon in the tray. I click 'Open network and sharing center". No matter what I choose Windows 7 ends up telling me to plug in an Ethernet cable. No, this is a client not the server. I have verified that the NIC can connect to the computer with the Ethernet cable by using the old XP hard disk.
Any suggestions?
