View 2 RepliesI am facing an issue where the wireless connectivity drops intermittently for my Win 7 Home Basic Notebook.Within less then a minute the connection is resumed. Earlier I thought that it was an issue with my service provider.But then I did not face this issue with my Win XP notebook. I mean, both the notebooks are connected and then the wireless connection of Win 7 drops for a minute and then reconnects. During the period when the connection drops, I can still see my SSID, and also checked that the Win XP was connected and I could access the internet.What could be the root cause and the possible solutions for this issue?It is really frustrating when the connection drops when I am downloading big files and I have to start all over.

View 1 Replies View RelatedLast night I was on the internet at home absolutely fine and my laptop automatically downloaded an update, since then I have been unable to connect to my wi-fi. I deleted the updates and was still unable to connect, so I tried to used a system recovery restore point and every one I use starts but fails to complete.So, I did a factory reset after around 8 hours of trying to sort it out today and I STILL have the same problem. I can plug in the cable to connect and my housemate is having absolutely no issues connecting and neither is my phone so now I am at a total loss what I should do to resolve this. Prior to the factory reset I was able to connect to the wi-fi but it was stating no network access/limited access and now it simply won't connect to my internet at all. It finds my full strength signal but will not connect.My drivers for the Broadcom 4313 802.11b/g/n card are the most up to date and the laptop (HP G62) says it is working fine.
View 2 Replies View RelatedToday, I managed to redecorate my bedroom; where my computer sat on top of a shaky, wooden desk. That desk is now gone, caput, and replaced by a much bigger, sturdier and prettier glass replacement.Before I dissasembled the computer to re-decorate, I was able to browse the internet at ease. There were no problems at all...However, after the new desk was setup - and all wires replaced in their correct slots, I find that I am unable to connect to the internet, or even the house's network! For the past year, I have been wired to the router using a RTL8168C(P)/8111C(P) Family PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet NIC. It was plugged into an extension cord, in my room, into the Ethernet port in the back of my computer. Downstairs, it's twin was situated no less than 2 feet away from the router - plugged into the first port.Now, when I boot up the computer, the network notification presents the following message: "Unidentified Network. No network access", and sometimes presents a yellow ! next to it. So, I am reduced to typing on my mother's laptop - which has no problems connecting to the network.I am able to use the ipconfig /release command, but unable to use the /renew - it hangs in the command prompt, then tells me that the DHCP server cannot be located. The IP, beforehand, was reverted to 169.254.223.117 - before all of this, I was 192.168.0.5?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI installed Win 7 fine and about a week later I dropped the DVD. There is a scratch on it that is noticeable. I then copied the DVD to a folder on my C: drive to see if there was an error on it. I got a message when it completed "Copied Successfully". Would you say that would mean it copied with no errors and the DVD was not harmed by the scratch?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have 2 different laptops. both running Windows7 and connecting to the internet wirelessly. within a few days of each other they both began to display "Currently connected to: Unidentified network No network access" and they will not let me get on the internet. It is not my router becuase It shows the same thing no matter where I try to connect. I have tried my gym and a local restaurant that I have always had success connecting to before. Furthermore my WindowsXP desktop is directly connected and is connecting to the internet without any problems. My laptops are both running AVG for antivirus.

View 9 Replies View RelatedYesterday it worked and when I booted today it didn't I have absolutely no idea what the problem is and I have checked everything I know with no use.
- I am using d-Lan (PowerLan) and have had no problems with it until today.
- My router, modem and the d-lan devices are functioning properly which I have tested multiple times so I'm sure the problem lies with my computer.
- I have tried Troubleshooting with no effect
- It isn't an IP conflict
- It isn't a 3rd party program (I started it in safe mode, same problem)
- Internet still works over my W-Lan but is incredibly slow and unstable
For boxing day, I bought myself a new Computer case, a Cooler Master HAF 932. After setting it up and booting my computer, without any problems, my Internet would not work.
I attached the Network & Sharing Centre screen to show you what it says. I've tried many things, switching cables, direct input from modem (I use a router), and all sorts of guides that have similar problems.
Am in deep trouble again - my WLM password has failed yet again and I don't know how to recover it. I have tried everything that I can think of even going to the length of creating a hotmail account which also I cannot access. SIW shows up the saved password but it will not work.I rely on WLM for contact with just about everyone including SF and it is truly getting me down. Is there any recovery apps that anyone knows of to get back the WLM password that is so important?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI built this PC a couple of days after windows 7 came out. I've been very happy with it, and with windows 7. It's all been running great.
I was shocked when my graphics card (an XFX ATI 4850) scored 7.3 in the WEI tool, but pleased at the same time.
Earlier today i updated the drivers to the latest ATI Catalyst drivers, something i hadnt bothered to do before, then ran WEI again. This time it wasnt a pleasant suprise i got, as my score plummetted to a measly 6.0.
I wonder if these drivers are actually making my GPU perform worse, or wether, without the latest drivers, WEI just wasnt sure of my graphics card and so tried to make a rough estimate the previous time i ran it.
What do you think? Should i roll back the driver change? I cant see any difference at all in the games i play but i'm not playing anything particuarly hardcore to push this beast anyway.
I have a Toshiba Satellite A300M00 Notebook and got it about a year ago with Vista Home Premium. I purchased the new Windows 7 Home Premium (Full) and did a clean instal.
Now they issues is this. When i was running windows vista my WEI (windows Experience Index) was at an overall 5.0 (knowing that vista's max is 5.9, my laptop was pretty powerful and ran games and other things beautifully).
So knowing that Windows 7 is supposed to increase computer performance, the opposite has actually happened on my system (both by looking at the WEI which is now 3.8 and the performance itself with games in particular being much slower).
I was wondering why this may be the case, i have installed all driver related to the graphics card which is an ATI Mobility Radeon HD3650 512MB Ram. My CUP is 2.5Ghz Dual core, i have 4GB Ram and a 400GB Harddrive.
The windows experience index is as follows. Processor went from about 5.4 to 3.8, RAM went from 5.0 to 4.0, Graphics stayed about the same at 5.2, gaming performance went from 5.5 to 6.1 and HDD went from about 5.2 to 4.9.
The lowest of those being the Processor is the subscore and not only is this rating system different but the performance is actually worse with games, Far Cry 2 i use to be able to run 1,024 x 768 with 2XAA at Very High Graphics nicely (just as an example).
So anyone with any answers would be awesome.
I have a Wireless Trendnet TEW-432BRP router. My wireless internet connection keeps dropping every 30 minutes. After it drops it usually reconnects by it self in like 1minute. This is getting to be annoying since this occurs a lot while I play online games. This router has been perfectly working fine before. It is connected to the computer using an Ethernet cable
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a Samsung Laptop and it was in hibernation mode when it was knocked off of an ottoman and fell about a foot and landed right side up on the floor. When I opened it there was nothing but a black screen with a cursor on it. So I turned it off by holding down the power button and then turned it back on the sumsung start up screen came on and then the screen was black except for a Little flashing white bar on the upper left hand side and then it just stays that way, I have also tried taking out the battery but it did not work. One time it came up with an error saying your computer can't come out of hibernation anything not saved previously will be lost and at the bottom it says enter=continue but when I hit enter nothing happens.

It didnt fall from much of a height so i thought it would be ok. Upon starting it up again it came to a black screen asking if i wanted to use startup repair or start up normally. i swear i clicked on start up normally but it chose startup repair regardless. I left it overnight on the startup repair function as i heard it could take a long time for the program to run.

I turned it on and i was on skype and google for a while until i tried to search for a file and it froze and the a window came up saying somthing about Windows crashing. I did the little error test thing and it told me that the file was un-fixable.I don't think getting the disc to make it return to the factory setting would do anything because its corrupted i think.

This means no working Windows 7 drivers and no longer support for OpenSuse!
I had installed the Catalyst x64 drivers 9.1 on Windows 7 RC x64 but the driver is quite erratic: If I move the mouse over an icon, normaly the tooltips will be shown as long as the mouse pointer is over an icon. If I move the mouse pointer away, the tooltips should go away.
But not with Catalyst x64 drivers 9.1: After some time of working I have a lot of vodoo toolstips on the screen, which cannot been eliminated.
There is a workaround: Change the Screen Refresh Rate from 59Hz to 60 Hz or back from 60 Hz to 59Hz to vodoo tooltips go away.
I had the same phenomenon also on the last Catalyst x64 drivers for Vista (9.3), so I also switched in Vista x64 SP2 back to version 9.1.
What should I do? Throw away the Radeon X1950 which in under 3 years old now and purchase a new graphic card?
After that lousy support of ATI I don't have so much motivation to purchase a ATI card again, but they have pricy offers (Radeon 4890, 4870 or the inexpensive 4770, which is announced but no dealer has it in stock at the moment.
Or should I wait up to end of the year when DirectX 11 graphic cards are available? I also own a Nvidia 8800GTS in a second machine, same age but no problem with drivers for Server 2008 R2! Can you recommend a Nvida card and which model?

I recently upgraded my motherboard from Asus Crosshair IV Formula to Asus P8Z68-V PRO/GEN3.I had previously configured my home network to fully support 1Gb transfers in LAN between my desktop and my laptop. I could transfer files with full 1Gb speed via FTP and Windows file sharing.But now with the new mobo and it's new network adapter my FTP transfer speeds have dropped down to 2MB/s meaning both upload and download speeds. Windows file sharing still works fine and I can achieve 50-100MB/s speeds with it.What is causing the FTP to work so poorly now? I can only assume it's the new network adapter since it's the only thing that's changed. I have installed the latest drivers, ran all diagnostic tools the software included, enabled and disabled every feature in the driver configuration but nothing has worked.

Prior to installing, I ran the upgrade advisor and there was one device (listed as unknown) that was listed as not compatible.A few days after install, after the laptop sits idle for a few hours, when I open it up and start navigating, it will freeze up. I power off using the power button, power back up, and it works fine. Next time I try to use it after it sits idle for a while, again it freezes.This process is repeated nearly every time I start using it after it sits idle for a few hours

For a little while now, completely randomly it would seem, the USB ports on the back of my PC will seemingly cut in and out indefinitely until I do a restart.
If the devices that were plugged into the back USB ports are switched to the USB ports on the front of the case, there isn't a problem at all.
I'm almost certain that the problem is not with my mouse and keyboard as like I said, plugged into the front they work fine.
How do I remove radio from my laptop...it's annoying, and it just comes on intermittently...

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have recently upgraded my pc to 64-bit and Im having huge fps drops whenever I run the games that I used to play fine in 32-bit (Aion Online and Guild Wars 2). On 32 bit, I was running with 30-35 fps with highest settings, but now I'm running both games with 9-15 fps regardless of the visual settings.
I have tried reinstalling the AMD driver, as well as the chipset drivers using -overall and -overide. I have tried disabling my sound driver, and I still get the same result.
I have tried googling some fixes for my issue, but so far it has been fruitless. Aion has a 64-bit client which they say, would increase the game's performance gradually, but I have yet to try it since it's not working as of the moment.
What I'm concerned about is when I run Guild wars 2 client (just the launcher itself), I am noticing a drop on my computer's fps. I never tried to overclock my cpu nor my gpu since I have an old school mobo.
Here are my specs:
CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad Q8300 2.5 Ghz
MOBO: ECS G31T-M7
RAM: 4GB DDR2 800 (2gb x 2)
HDD: Samsung HD161GJ ATA (150 GB)

View 5 Replies View RelatedEver since I installed Windows 7 on my Toshiba Satellite computer, the keyboard unexpectedly stops functioning at times, perhaps once a week. The only solution is to restart the computer.Windows Support says for me to call Toshiba, and Toshiba Support blames it on Windows. It seems obvious (even though nothing is obvious with computers) that the keyboard is in working order - since I can type 99 percent of the time - the glitch has to be with Windows.

I did this because I was messing around with Linux and removed the partition in the wrong drive...sigh. So anyway, Windows 7 was running rock solid prior to this....no problems whatsoever with anything. So after I reinstall Windows I notice my Internet connection drops once in a while. Some days it doesn't do it at all while others it drops multiple times. It's all up to date too. There are two things different in this install though. The first is I updated my BIOS. I did this because I suddenly couldn't access the BIOS or even use F8 on boot up. The second thing is after you install, Windows wants to update my Atheros (I believe it's called) adapter. I didn't do this with the first install because it was working fine. Ok, so there are the two differences. Do you guys think it's the adapter driver or the BIOS update? [code]
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have been running Windows 7 Ultimate x 64 bit on my pc for 6 months or so when recently it just started freezing up either whilst loading or whilst im on the desktop screen. I have checked memory chips for error and its returned back no errors found. I have to sometimes reboot the pc when its frozen and then it doesn't load up. It freezes just after windows logo appears and just halts for ages. Sometimes it doesnt even get that far. I have a memory and cpu gauge on my desktop which constantly has memory on about 56% usage and cpu on 0.2%.
I have even resinstalled a backup image i have created of the operating system but now its even worse. I have Virgin media security software installed.
It seems like every other restart I get that error on boot up. Why is it off and on?
I ran a repair disc (startup repair), I did a memory diagnostic test, and a restore from a month earlier, and still I get this error. Dont have a Win 7 disc, so don't want to do a clean install yet.
I have a pair of WD 500GB drives in Raid0 array with the resulting >900Gb partitioned such :
C: Priamry 100Gb - Windows 7 64bit
D: Primary 80 GB - Windows 7 32bit
E: Primary 40GB - Windows 7 32bit
R: Secondary Logical - 355GB - Data
Z: Secondary Logical - 355GB - Data
Using DualBootPro to boot between the various OS Both the Windows 7 32 bit installations give me no problems whatsoever, however, intermitantly when booting into the Windows 7 64 installation sometimes the R drive will appear as read only, or the Z drive will appear as read only or they are both OK.This is more an inconvenience than a major disassater, as a reboot normally resolves the issue. This appears to be cmpletely random, as it does not happen specifically after a boot into either of the Windows 7 32 installtions, but can occur even after a previous successful boot of the Windows 7 64 installation.
