View 1 RepliesI just put a fresh installation of Windows 7 on my PC, I have the latest drivers, and the graphics card worked with Windows XP before I changed the OS. I am currently working off of the on-board graphics via VGA, but when I try to plug my monitor into the nVidia card with the DVI (same monitor, different source), the "Screen Resolution" window doesn't recognize the 2nd input. I also cannot get any signal from the card if I boot up with either cables plugged in.I don't see anything in the device manager or in the HWiNFO32 program I have that throws any red flags. It appears to be working fine. And BIOS doesn't have any settings that should be interfering with the card working properly

Everything I try to print something, the printer just says "invalid data" And refuses to print anything. I've tried looking but the official site has no drivers that I can use, as it says that the drivers come with the OS.

I have a desktop with W.7. Ultimate - connected to Internet by WIFI - and I have just bought a laptop, which has W.7 Home Premium, to use when away from home.I have just returned and would like to transfer data from the laptop to the desktop. I do not seem to be able to do so.I could obtain a memory stick and transfer via that, but I was wondering if I could obtain a cable (USB) that I could use.I have a second HD inside my tower from my last Computer .- which contains my music collection - and I can access that through the Start button/Computer. I do not have a cable with a USB connection at each end - only an extension USB cable for my reception of WIFI which is an ordinary USB for the computer and a larger size to connect the radio receiver.
View 4 Replies View Relatedi think the motherboard went out on my laptop (have a gateway nv53, turned it on one evening after using it that day and the power light came on, the cpu fan came on for a second, then nothing, no "no hard drive detected" no beeping, nothing.after taking it apart and trying to see if something came loose, i found nothing. i have a thermaltake backxduet internal drive docking station. I can see my drive, i can see everything on it, except what i really want, windows 7 puts everything in a library, i see it under user, my name, but if i click on the folder it tells me access denied. that is where all my photos and documents are, and that is what is important to me. I can get a motherboard for $150, but i dont know if it is the motherboard for sure or not, i am guessing since i get power, the cpu starts to heat up if left on for a while (amd chip) so i know the cpu is getting power, the fan is getting power, the monitor has a plug that i think i power, it is getting voltage, i also tried plugging in an external monitor and i had nothing.

Is there something I can buy like an external dock that I can plug the 2 drives into and access the data? Maybe there is a sw solution? I thought about looking on eBay for a 2nd hand inspiron 1721 and poping in my drives but thats a bit pricey.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI purchased Outlook 2010 out-of-the-box and am authorized to install it on two machines. It's been running on my desktop (duo-core Intel/Windows 7 64bit) for months now, and I've just gotten around to installing it on my Toshiba Satellite (Athlon/Windows 7 32bit) laptop.
So far, so good, but I don't want to have to manually and tediously set up my email accounts again. let alone copy calendar and notes, etc. How do I transfer all that data over? It'll be especially important when synchronizing the two machines. I tried copying over the C:User...AppDataLocalMicrosoftOutlook folder with contents and C:User...AppDataRoamingMicrosoftOutlook folder as well. No apparent effect.
It used to be that copying Outlook.pst would do the trick, but no longer, apparently.

From what (little) I understand, most imaging programs clone everything, including the XP register and boot drive. But how can you then boot the Windows 7 machine to run the programs that were originally instaled in XP?I know I can just drag over the data files and re-install all the software, but I am not sure I will live long enough to complete that task.

View 1 Replies View RelatedSo I've been using my 64GB ssd as my windows 7 boot drive and i have a 1TB hdd as my data drive. Recently the my computer has begun to freeze up with errors like "explorer.exe" has stopped responding or "windows" has stopped responding and half of the time when i try to boot it says it cant find windows. This has lead me to believe that my ssd is dying despite being only a year old. I need to RMA my ssd but to do that i would be losing my boot drive for weeks. So I thought id try to create a system image so that i can simply put my boot drive on my hdd, but when i try to create the image it says that the image would be 711GB because its including all of my hdd (which contains all my user libraries and downloads). My question is: how do I make windows stop thinking that my hdd is a system drive so that I can create a reasonably sized image, or more generally: how can i easily move my boot drive to my hdd? Also, I've read some posts about using "easyBCD" to accomplish the latter but I'm not sure that's exactly what i need in this situation.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a new laptop, which was set up for me in the shop. Everything was working perfectly. Now however, my PC is not recognising the printer. I have previously been able to print from this laptop using the same cable, printer and USB port.
When I try to 'troubleshoot' this problem, I get a message that the printer driver is not installed. I thought Windows 7 automatically installed devices when connected via USB?
I have double checked the cable with another laptop and all is fine. I have double checked both USB ports with other devices and all is fine.

View 2 Replies View RelatedMy wife is getting colors that are different between her hp dv7 windows home and hp all-in-one b210 printer. The colors are correct on the laptop but come out quite different on the printer. I haven't been able to find any knobs to turn on the laptop to correct this. I don't have this problem with my xp desktop and hp 7200 printer.
Does anyone know where to begin looking for settings on either the laptop or on the printer?
Comments: To help others who may have same problem, this is what I discovered. I had her print a web page and the colors were really off. I replaced the print cartridges then ran another print. The colors compared well to the monitor. These (B210) cartridges are small and store a salesman had previously commented that they tend to dry up. The problem thus was probably gunky cartridges. I found a "clean print heads" function on tools. I recommended she run this monthly to keep the them clean (I don't normally use her printer). In thinking about it, I realized my 7200 automatically cleans the print heads plus its cartridges are much larger.
