Multiple 'Draft' Messages Appearing From Nowhere In WLM
Aug 16, 2011I tired of deleting more than two dozen emails that appear in my "Drafts" folder form no where, this is related to WLM only as my other emails work perfectly fine.

View 1 RepliesI hate to start with an apology, but I can't believe I'm the first to raise this point, so I'm sorry if it's already been done to death. But I've tried searching the forum, and couldn't find a relevant thread. My issue is this. When I'm writing a new email in Windows Live Mail, like most careful users I like to save the text every now and then. It's an instinct borne of hard experience of losing data, which can happen any time with any software. I just automatically click Cltr-S periodically without even thinking about it.Unfortunately, it appears to me that every time I do this in Windows Live Mail, the program creates a new copy of my current draft email in the relevant Drafts folder. If it's a long email, or one I'm phrasing with extra care, I can end up with maybe ten or fifteen nearly identical drafts cluttering up the folder! This behaviour seemed so bizarre when I noticed it that I trawled through the settings, looking for a way to override it, but I can't find any reference. Am I missing something obvious? I must be.
In Outlook Express (sorry to dredge up that familiar phrase), when you do what I've described above, the software behaves logically, and simply resaves the amended draft email each time over the previous version, so that you never have more than one draft copy at any time - which is how nearly all word processors also work. Surely that's how Windows Live Mail should behave too? I realise there might be occasional instances where you would want two different versions of a draft, but surely these instances are far outnumbered by the times when you just want to save a single copy incrementally as you write it?
Over the past few weeks I have been getting intermittent BSOD's and pc freezes. When the pc has frozen (does not respond to any keyboard commands etc) it sort of powers up, but I get no signal to the monitors and no 'beep' as when the pc boots up properly. If I leave it for 10-15mins it will boot up again fine, but then I get BSOD's. I have had multiple errors such as SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION , BAD_POOL_CALLER, and the BSOD not giving an error as before but listing a .sys file, such as FLTMGR.SYS, TCPIP.SYS, ATAPORT.SYS, NFTS.SYS.I haven't recently installed any new hardware apart from a new 4gb of ram (2x2gb sticks) which I have had for 3 months + now. The only other hardware/software I installed recently was a Logitech webcam, and oddly the crashes did start occuring after this.I have ran memtest for multiple sweeps on each stick of ram and no issue, I have also ran chkdsk and it found no errors. The pc this morning has really been BSOD'ing like mad, so I now have it in safe mode replicating what I was doing and no BSOD as of yet.I have a minidump of the most recent BSOD (as they dont always report a BSOD when they freeze). My pc is around 3.5yrs old, is running Windows 7 64bit, has an Intel Pentium CPU E2220 2.4 ghz processor, and 8gb of DDR2 ram.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI had been having problems previously with this same system getting multiple BSOD everyday with varying messages on them. I was told after it was looked at that I had corruption in my registry and the easiest solution was to just re-install Windows. I went ahead and did that and even after a fresh install i'm still getting BSOD. I tried several re-installs and have been getting the same issues every time. There doesn't seem to be any kind of pattern to it doing it, just happens here and there. It doesn't seem to be the same frequency it used to but it's still happening. The only message i've seen thus far is "Memory_Management". During this last re-install, all I did was install Windows 7 Ultimate x64, loaded the necessary, updated drivers for my graphics card and motherboard and just left it, still got the blue screen.
View 9 Replies View RelatedSince last weeks I've had multiple BSOD's and it seems to happen mostly while I play games through steam. Games like GTA4, The witcher 2 and Sleeping dogs cause the crashes while I for some reason can play Shogun Total war 2 for hours without problems. Games that are not connected to steam, like Battlefield 3, seems to work good as well. I don't have any cd/dvd tools like Daemon tools installed.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am trying to get my wife's new computer up and running without any BSOD or program failures. Note that the system was not initially set up to capture the dmp files so all the earliest ones are missing. I presented the initial problems to the original seller who recommended sticking with MSE and uninstalling Norton 360 and I did that. Another forum suggested that Virtual Memory was the problem and I disabled and restored VM. Still having multiple crashes and I am hoping that I can get real help here. I do note that all the crashes have ntoskrnl.exe in the driver stack although sometimes alone and sometimes with other drivers.[CODE]
View 2 Replies View RelatedWe have three medical clinics and the front desk staff float from clinic to clinic depending on their schedule. I only started here a few months ago and I am working on upgrading their Dell xp systems to Windows 7 systems. The problem begins to crop up when say a user named Sally will come in and sit down at this system for the first time.. Well, she needs to login, click on outlook icon, let it find her exchange PST and copy settings to her user profile, then she launches the application for the scanner that she uses to scan in ID's and insurance cards for every patient coming in.. The scanner is set to default settings and needs to be tweaked on color depth and double sided, etc.. Then after that, she needs to launch her Medical EMR application.. and then choose various options in the citrix client, ..TL;DR - Each user needs to spend 20 minutes resetting the defaults at this updated system.
Well this is fine except, I am planning on updating 2 front desk systems at each clinic, the user Sally will need to do all these things EACH time she finds herself sitting down at a system I just swapped out the previous evening. My thought is this, put a single system down in one clinic and let it sit a week giving most of the float users a chance to work on it for a day, setting all of their preferences etc.Once I get a bunch of them with user profiles on the local drive, grab an image of that drive and just deploy that to each system I roll out..Couple issues I am running into:First would be that I would have to register each Windows 7 copy with a new serial, which I have The next issue is, we have a mis-mash of Dell optiplex systems. 330's - 380's even a couple 320's..
I have been getting a fairly random blue screens and I cannot pin point it myself. I know a bit about diagnosing and repairing issues but this one is just a pain in my butt. I am uploading the dump files and I hope someone can give me a hand I am running a sfc scan right now to test for any problems too. Also got this off the TSG SysInfo Program.

I have attached a second monitor to my laptop which runs Windows 7, however, I need to set different resolutions for different monitors, because the display does not fit to fill the screen on both monitors.
It is also noted that the display is replicated, and I would like to have the effect of having different desktops e.g. being able to use different applications such as debugging code on one monitor on an IDE such as Visual Studio, and, viewing the browser on the other monitor.
Currently it does not seem possible since the behavior seems to be that the same resolution is replicated on both monitors.
I use WhoCrashed to analyze these errors but I dont know how to solve. Maybe my hardware cause these.

I'm having a bit of trouble trying to get two monitors, a small 1024x768 LCD, and a 46" 1920x1080 TV, to display the same wallpaper at different resolutions. My graphics card is older, a Nvidia Quadro FX 1700, but it is perfectly capable of driving both displays at the same time. It's a minor annoyance, but I'd like to get it working if it's possible.
View 4 Replies View RelatedSomeone just recently got a new Gateway all-in-one desktop computer running Windows 7. He has a slightly older HP deskjet printer connected to it. Each day, a second iteration of that printer appears and sets itself as the default printer. When he goes to print, nothing happens because it is sitting in the queue of that second printer. Yesterday I reset the print spooler by turning it off an on. When done, only the original printer appeared and everything printed fine. Today he called me and said the second printer was back and he can't print.

View 1 Replies View Relatedwhy my system will no longer display the contents of my CD/DVDs? I have been going through some older CD/DVD (RW) that have various files on them, zip, jpg, txt, doc etc. Looking from Explorer 'Computer' the disk will show once inserted and state it has (for example) 23.2MB free of 702MB but when I select the drive to view the contents all I see is desktop.ini and nothing else. Strange since it recognizes the media has 23.2MB free which means there is data present.
Now, I absolutely know this system showed contents at one time (like yesterday)for anything I inserted to read. I've rebooted also. I can also move the media to another machine, running Linux ;-) and it displays the contents just fine. I have tried other media that I know I have recently written (from this system) and they show exactly the same thing now one file desktop.ini and that's it. I have seen this before under W2K, WXP and now Windows 7 but this system is brand new and much more modern hardware but never ever found a solution.
I've installed a new SSD as a secondary drive and it has worked for two days. At the moment, I can't see any mention of it in Computer (Windows Explorer) but the BIOS detects it.There is a screenshot below of the disk manager, I believe Disk 2 should be the 120GB Intel X-25M G2 SSD:Also, ignore the 8GB drive listed there, it's just a harmless USB.How do I fix this? I don't have any data worth keeping on it so I'm quite happy to get a blowtorch and format the drive if needed.

Today it appeared and contained the words "0 files copied" which changed to "1 files copied" and then "2 files copied" before disappearing. This was the first time I could actually see what was written. About 5 minutes later it appeared very briefly again and I noticed the word "taskkill" before it disappeared.

View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen I boot up my computer, it displays the animated windows7 logo as normal, but where it would normally display the login screen all I get is a blank screen with the mouse cursor. I've tried all keyboard shortcuts and random clicks to no avail - it stays on that screen for hours with occasional HDD activity.I've tried booting in safe mode only to encounter exactly the same problem, and have no previous restore points (which I know is a big mistake).Due to it not starting in safe mode either, I tried to replace the winlogon.exe file from another Windows 7 instillation to no avail - I still get the same problem.I am able to boot into linux (off my removable HDD) and windows XP (from my secondary internal HDD), so I am led to believe it is a corrupted file or dodgy setting within Windows 7 rather than a hardware fault.

I have a couple of Windows 7 machines that have suddenly had several empty folders appear in the root directory of the c drive.
The odd part about it, they are all labelled <computername>.1234 or four to five seemingly random numbers. They aren't a jumble of hex numbers that I'd expect from Windows Update in XP (which is pretty much the only thing google has spat out for me on this issue). I'm trying to find out if this is a virus or what sort of software might be creating these folders. I did a full MBAM of the system, as well as a full GMER scan, and gave it a shot with TDSSKiller as well a Sophos AV and they have all found nothing. I also took a look using process explorer and autoruns and I didn't find anything suspicious as far as I could tell so I don't think it's malicious. I just want to figure out what could be creating them, or if anyone had heard of this issue.
Certain games are affected by this lag. The game will run smooth for a while (regardless of graphic settings) but eventually the audio will start crackling. Then graphical lag will begin. Changing the graphics from high to low does nothing and the lag persists for a while after the game is closed. Thing is, setting the affinity of the game to one core prevents the lag from turning up in the first place, however, when set to 1 core I need to have the graphics set to minimum or suffer graphical lag (which stops when settings are set down). When this first appeared I noticed that audiodg was using about 30% of my cpu. Took advice and changed my sound settings which got it down to 5% at worst. Now my CPU stays at about 70% during the lag and memory is in the 80% range. So I dont get what the problem is, if my cpu and memory havent hit max it shouldnt lag.
