View 1 RepliesI do not have the new laptop on, it is an expensive paper weight at the moment. None of my XP software works. I loaded MS XP Mode, I was able to load Office 2000, neither Outlook or outlook express work and I dispise MS Mail and all web based mail. None of my CAD programs worked in XP mode. Note: Acer does not have the hardware support. I removed MS XP Mode. Loaded VMware Player with XP Pro,loaded all my programs, copied my old HDD to new files in virtual machine. Setup Office 2000 Outlook and outlook express work perfect as does all office 2000. Cad programs work (or so I thought) I wasted 3 hours designing a generator room in one of my cad programs and all was well till I tried to create a new file on the virtual drive and was unable to. Tried to save my drawing to any file, was not allowed.
Spent the rest of the day re-drawing the generator room on old laptop. Tried all of the things on setting up networking the drives and folders, was still unable to create new file folders or save any new cad files. There is nothing wrong with this old laptop, it is just 6 years old and found a great deal on the Acer. Tried to load XP on a new HDD, that failed (somewhat) after loading and looking at the properties, many drivers were not working. It seems all MFG's are looking to MS to develop their drivers. What else can I try to get XP Mode to work like XPI can not afford to upgrade all my programs and with that, none of my old files would be usable.I use several cad programs daily at the same time as I work on several projects at the same time, plus I do all my own quotes and PO's and send to vendors, plus receive in everything. I have to be able to create new files and save everything I do where I want toThis is also the first time I have used a new OS so soon. I usually give it a few years.I went from 95 2nd Ed to XP all was smooth. Stayed away from ME and Vista like the plague
I have upgraded to Win. 7 on a new computer. I removed my old C drive from my dead computer and installed it in the new one. How can I retreive Outlook 2000 contacts from the old drive either as an export file or print the contacts?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've installed my version of MS Office(2000 Premium) on Windows 7, and everything seems to work fine, except outlook. I get two different errors:
1)An error occurred while attempting to open the Windows Address Book. Unable to find the WAB.DLL.
2)Unable to update public free/busy data. An error occurred while attempting to open the Windows Address Book. Unable to find the WAB.DLL
I've been searching the web, with no concrete results for 7. I've found references for everything from Win 95 up through Vista, but, not 7.As I understand it, these are included in Outlook express, which, of course isn't available in 7. Each reference it to 'reinstall OE'. 7 doesn't give you that option, as its not a native application to 7.One reference suggested copying WAB.DLL as well as WAB32.DLL to the sytem32 directory. Didn't work.
I have just purchased an HP with Windows 7 and am trying to install Outlook 2000 but have a problem --Outlook installs OK but does not show up on the Program files so I can make it my default email program. I have removed Windows Mail. Also having problem in creating a personal folder. I receive two messages,
1. Outlook can not open the folder that has the files for opening, sending or receiving email.
2. Outlook can not find the personal folder to send information to.
I'm trying to move outlook 2003 .pst to outlook 2010 on a new computer running windows 7. I have copied the ..pst from the 2003 XP machine to a flash drive and copied them into the outlook folder on windows 7 under documentments/outlook folder which is new in 2010. I have already created a single pop account in 2010 and been using for a couple of weeks while trying to move the old 2003 pst file. It seems simple, have read enough how to's but nothing seems to work. How do I do this.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am trying to move one pst file from one laptop which has Outlook 2010 32 bit to another laptop which has Outlook 2010 64 bit installed, steps taken 1) Copied the pst file from the User/AppData/Microsoft/Outlook folder to usb. 2) Pasted the file from usb into User/Documents folder. 3) Tried to open the file in Outlook and I get the error that Outlook encountered errors while opening the file. Now how is that possible when the file is working perfectly in one laptop but when I copy and paste it into another it gets corrupted? Is it due to 32 bit to 64 bit outlook? I tried to repair it using scanpst and it brought back few mails?

View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen migrating email/contacts etc, I have frequently moved Outlook PST files from one computer to anohter- not a problem, but I always have to manuually re-enter the email account settins ( email address, reply to, POP/SMTP setting apasswords etc). Tat is moving the PST file is fine, and I can easily set it up udner Accounts Settings/Data File tab ..... but the Account Settings/Email tab is empty. So I enter it manually.
About to other move, , moving from Outlook 2003 on my XP machine to Outlook 2010 on Windows 7. Is there a way to move the settings as well, or must they be manaully entered?
This is my setup:
- PC1 runs Win 7 and Outlook 2010. It has my personal Inbox called Jon Local.
- PC2 runs Win XP and Outlook 2003. It holds my company data and is Server.
I want to change this setup so that I only have all my Outlook data on PC1, running under Outlook 2010. So, I need to migrate the data from PC2 to PC1.
1. How do I do this?!
2. Do I need to convert the format of the data on PC1 to a new Outlook format?
3. Can I export the account settings? No idea what all the pop settings are and the passwords, so would be nice if I can export that and import into Outlook 2010.
4. I need to have the company data from PC2 separate from PC1. Will it give me two Inbox?
whatever i try to do on my outlook that has to do with .PST file management results in a crash where outlook quitsif i go to control panel > mail settings > data files 2 of the files that are in use (& work) do not show up, one of them the default mail delivery .PST. in these two, trying to access the advanced properties gives an error:The operation failed. An object could not be found.now - general googling tells me that recreating the profile could perhaps fix this - but i would love to avoid that as there's no manageable UI to set up the email accounts and there's many in use.event log on trying to open a pre-existing .PST that's not in the current profile:

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am trying to move a .dll file from one of my folders in Downloads to Program Files (x86)/some_folder, but it keeps showing "you require permission from my_machine/Owner to make changes to this file", so I can't finish the job; I tried take owner ship of the dll file, but it didn't work.
Here is what I tried: First of all, I changed the own ship of the .dll file located in Download folder to my_machine/Owner(full control), and then i changed the own ship of program files(x86)/destination folder to my_machine/Owner(full control) as well; then tried to move the dll file to the destination, failed. Then I turned off the UAC, tried but failed again. The error msg is still "you require permission from my_machine/Owner to make changes to this file".

View 12 Replies View RelatedThere are a lot of questions about this and none of the proposed solutions seems to work for me. Now that MS has moved on to the 2013 version of the software, it still does not work on 2010. What did people do? Here is the problem have a .pst file from Outlook 2007 on an old computer. I want to use that same .pst file on a new computer running Outlook 2010. I want all my new mail to go to the old .pst file and nowhere else. Now here is what I've tried and what seems to happen:When starting O'2010 it needs your email address. I create that but then it creates a new .pst file named myname@mydomain.com.pstAnd it creates it in C:/Users/myname/AppData/Local/Microsoft/Outlook. If I try to move the new .pst file to the folder entitled C:/Users/myname/Documents/Outlook Files, then when I restart Outlook it recreates the deleted .pst file back in the AppData folder

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm in the process of transferring Outlook data from old xp laptop to new windows 7 for my hubbie (who knows even less than I do). Have followed microsoft's instructions (which worked fine for me earlier this year), as well as various other site's advice but everytime I import the new .pst file it simply loads up an empty inbox and deleted items folder. Also - each time I import the old data the new .pst file increases exponentially (I get multiple and I mean MULTIPLE inboxes...) until I have to restore it to its original state. I have checked the OUTLOOK compatibility is correct - I can only think it is a glitch casued by Windows 7 OS

View 1 Replies View RelatedPurchased a website and email domain. I have a fresh install of MS office 2010 and when trying to incorporate my pop3 mail everything works fine, even the test emails, but I can not save profile because i get an error, "This information service is not installed on your computer", so it wont let me create a new data file. when I search for an existing .pst none are found on hard drive. so I'm kinda stuck. I tried the same basic thing via control panel > mail > data file tab > add data file, but i get the same error. "This information service is not installed on your computer." I took a look at my add/remove windows features pane to see if maybe on windows install I missed some email protocols or something but I could not find any. did the same for the office 2010 install, checked to see if I did not install a key feature. still nothing.Tried using IMAP as well since this does not require .pst access but still same error. "This information service is not installed on your computer."
View 5 Replies View RelatedMy laptop died last week. Fortunately the hard drive was unaffected and I have this now in a USB enclosure that I can access via my new laptop. The problem is that the old machine came pre-installed with the SBE version of Office 2007 whereas the new one came with a trial version of Office 2010, which has subsequently been activated as the Starter edition of Office 2010.So, I have an Office 2007 pst file and only Windows Live Mail on the new laptop.I've already done extensive searching for a solution but they all seem to require that there is a running version of Outlook in order to extract the data from the file and present it in a way that WLM can import.I did look at Mailstore Home but it says that this configuration (pst) is only supported in the Server version, which having been installed refuses to run claiming the trial period has expired.
