I had to re-install Windows 7 on my computer as I had to replace the motherboard. I backed up my outlook.pst file (2.3 gb) to a DVD and after installing Office 2007, I copied the PST file to my desktop. Now when I try to import it or read it using Data Management, I get a message saying this is not a personal folder. I know there are tools out there that can manage larger pst files

I'm trying to move a file that is larger than 4GB in size from my main hard drive to an external, and getting the error message in the title. The consensus on the other post was that the hard drive must have been a FAT format, and that too fix the problem either split up the file or reformat the hard drive as NTFS.Well, by all accounts, my computer is telling me that my external hard drive is ALREADY formatted as NTFS, but I'm still getting this error. I would prefer not to split up the file, but other than that, what are my options?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am trying to move one pst file from one laptop which has Outlook 2010 32 bit to another laptop which has Outlook 2010 64 bit installed, steps taken 1) Copied the pst file from the User/AppData/Microsoft/Outlook folder to usb. 2) Pasted the file from usb into User/Documents folder. 3) Tried to open the file in Outlook and I get the error that Outlook encountered errors while opening the file. Now how is that possible when the file is working perfectly in one laptop but when I copy and paste it into another it gets corrupted? Is it due to 32 bit to 64 bit outlook? I tried to repair it using scanpst and it brought back few mails?

When I try to add a 4.29 GB file to a disk image I'm creating it says "ERROR: Added file is too large." Registered Magic ISO is supposed to support up to 10 GBs. What's the deal?
View 4 Replies View RelatedYes, I STILL need to burn to a regular CD as CDA is all that will play in my car. I have an audiobook in one large file & have tried breaking it down into several smaller files for burning. The first file burns just fine, but all subsequent files fail as it claims they're too long for the cd, even tho the size is a miniscule CDA. Older versions of windows used to prompt you for subsequent discs but I can't get any program (Roxio, Ashampoo, Cyberlink) to do so--they all return too large for disc.

But since this was on my netbook, I tried to transfer the file to a 16GB Kingston USB Drive which is empty as I have bought it new. However I get an error saying that the "file is too large for the destination file system" and thus, cannot move my file to the USB. I just created my first PowerPoint presentation containing 30 slides, all containing images, with a total of 35 images overall. All of the images together add up to less than 6 MB. During the creation of the slides I was careful to follow the guidelines for Sizing Digital Images For Powerpoint. However, when I save the presentation to disk, it is over 55 MB! I have tried to Compress Pictures from the Format toolbar-- no effect. In fact, file size of the presentation was larger after this. If I go to File>Info>Optimize Media Compatibility, this option is GRAYED OUT and does not work! I want to be able to send this presentation as an email attachment, but 55MB is way too big!

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have moved to Windows 7 Ultimate x64 for almost half a year, recently my hard drive was getting full and I decided to move some of the data to usb external hard drives. Both the externals I have are IDE hard drives and both are NTFS. I always use Quicksfv to make a CRC check file before I transfer the file and then run the CRC check after its been copied over to the external drive. I have used these externals in the past with Windows XP and had no problems.
However, on Windows 7 when transferring large files (usually over 1GB in size), I get corruption in the files. The corruption occurs randomly, if I recopy the files again it might be corruption free. This only occurs when copying files from internal to external, if I copy files from the external to my internal there's no corruption at all. I have tried changing the usb cables, power cable of the externals, using different usb ports but none of it helped. I scanned both externals with chkdsk and I used memtest+ for over 24hours and all the tests passed fine.
Just installed Windows 7 64 Home Pro from XP two days ago. The last remaining issue I need to solve is a drag and drop file transfer to my other home network computer (HNC).o far I've been able to d&d files from the HNC via Acronis WD in it's explorer mode without any issues, some sized in the multi Gb range. I'When I try to d&d a large file, specifically my NVIDIA drivers sized at 123Mb the Windows 7 computer freezes immediately. The cursor is stuck and the computer is absolutely locked, the only thing that works to recover it is the power off button.When I come back I don't get any indication of anything going wrong and if I look on the HNC drive the file has been transferred successfully

View 14 Replies View RelatedMy client's computer was infected with a virus obtained via Facebook. I removed this and multiple other infections (and I'm pretty thorough with my scanning). She gets it back, starts working on it, and apparently her devices and printers icons are blank. Not missing, like with a "blank page" icon, just... blank. Here's the kicker: it only happens with large and extra large icons. It also happens with normal folder icons. When I change it to medium or lower, they come back. I've tried rebuilding the icon cache database several times, tried sfc /scannow, tried chkdsk, tried uninstalling any recent updates, etc... There have been no hardware changes, the hard drive has been tested as good (no bad sectors), her dual monitors are at a sane resolution, and I'm confident that the viruses has been removed.

Now that MS has moved on to the 2013 version of the software, it still does not work on 2010. What did people do? Here is the problem have a .pst file from Outlook 2007 on an old computer. I want to use that same .pst file on a new computer running Outlook 2010. I want all my new mail to go to the old .pst file and nowhere else. Now here is what I've tried and what seems to happen:When starting O'2010 it needs your email address. I create that but then it creates a new .pst file named myname@mydomain.com.pstAnd it creates it in C:/Users/myname/AppData/Local/Microsoft/Outlook. If I try to move the new .pst file to the folder entitled C:/Users/myname/Documents/Outlook Files, then when I restart Outlook it recreates the deleted .pst file back in the AppData folder

Have followed microsoft's instructions (which worked fine for me earlier this year), as well as various other site's advice but everytime I import the new .pst file it simply loads up an empty inbox and deleted items folder. Also - each time I import the old data the new .pst file increases exponentially (I get multiple and I mean MULTIPLE inboxes...) until I have to restore it to its original state. I have checked the OUTLOOK compatibility is correct - I can only think it is a glitch casued by Windows 7 OS

I have a fresh install of MS office 2010 and when trying to incorporate my pop3 mail everything works fine, even the test emails, but I can not save profile because i get an error, "This information service is not installed on your computer", so it wont let me create a new data file. when I search for an existing .pst none are found on hard drive. so I'm kinda stuck. I tried the same basic thing via control panel > mail > data file tab > add data file, but i get the same error. "This information service is not installed on your computer." I took a look at my add/remove windows features pane to see if maybe on windows install I missed some email protocols or something but I could not find any. did the same for the office 2010 install, checked to see if I did not install a key feature. still nothing.Tried using IMAP as well since this does not require .pst access but still same error. Fortunately the hard drive was unaffected and I have this now in a USB enclosure that I can access via my new laptop.The problem is that the old machine came pre-installed with the SBE version of Office 2007 whereas the new one came with a trial version of Office 2010, which has subsequently been activated as the Starter edition of Office 2010.So, I have an Office 2007 pst file and only Windows Live Mail on the new laptop.I've already done extensive searching for a solution but they all seem to require that there is a running version of Outlook in order to extract the data from the file and present it in a way that WLM can import.I did look at Mailstore Home but it says that this configuration (pst) is only supported in the Server version, which having been installed refuses to run claiming the trial period has expired.
